Nicoll Hunt, proudly bearded founder of independent games developer I Fight Bears confirms for us all that his much-loved premiere title, Fists Of Awesome, has officially launched, and for its first week of availability, at half price too!

Fists Of Awesome is a Kickstarter-funded game, earning more than twice its required pledge amount and gandering nine-hundred-and-fifty one Backers, an impressive feat for a first try game! Some lucky Backers even have their own characters appearing in-game.

Not only that, but Nicoll was actually selected by the makers of the highly successful Ouya games console to be one of the first ever games available on it, come launch day, and it ranked number two in the sales charts.

Some of the writers of Indie Retro News first came across this game at Margate's GEEK (Gaming Expo East Kent) convention last year (2013), met its creator, and even played the game itself on the fellow-Kickstart-funded Ouya console and touch-screen iPad. A Full report from Neil Green - including what he thought of the game - can be read here.
Don't tell anyone but I'm going to let you in on a little secret in 18 and 1/2 hours. #Shhhh

After its sneak-peak release at GEEK, the game has, until now, had only a limited release. Nicoll recently spent many hours teasing his fans about an announcement via the use of social media prior to the announcement, and fan reaction has been very positive at the news, with plenty of "re-tweets", "Favourites" and discussion. Critics have been raving about it, Euro Gamer Expo Nominated it for an Award and even famous comedian Bill Bailey is a fan, it would seem!

The game itself is just as fun to play as its creator is to be around, and the fact that it is referred to as a "time-travelling-lumberjack-em-up", that the name of the company is I Fight Bears and its slogan is "Games For People With Beards" I am certain shows that you can expect much amusement during gameplay.

This is a beat-em-up who's premise is that of a man-verses nature variety that poses the question
"What would happen if bears took over the world?" - the eternal question now answered by this hilarious game!
Be prepared to punch many bears in the face in your quest to save humanity from their evil rule with full USB controller support and an Award-Nominated soundtrack, available exclusively via the Humble Bundle Store for PC and Mac (Linux compatibility may follow), coming to other providers in the coming weeks, and currently at a special half price offer.

If you enjoy the game, please remember to support its Steam Greenlight campaign by giving it a big "Yes!".

Indie Retro News have been provided with a copy of the game and we are very excited to be test-driving the full version, so long after having played the two level demo.

A review will be following shortly.
