The Hum - VR Alien Abduction launches kickstarter campaign

Several years back, when X-Files was a current TV franchise, everyone and their dog seemed to be doing alien abduction stories and games but it's a genre that definitely hasn't seen as much love as it once did. However Ariel Arias of Thotwise Games wants to change all that with an ambitious Kickstarter campaign to realize his dream passion project of an alien invasion horror adventure with support for immersive VR technologies such as Oculus rift.

The team are keeping very tight lipped about how the actual gameplay will go down - supposedly in a bid to not ruin the surprises, but from the teasers given so far, the atmosphere and tension wouldn't go amiss in M. Night Shyamalan's movie "signs" which inside a VR headset would be a very creepy proposition indeed.

Also, the concept artwork displayed would not be out of place in half life 2 or war of the worlds.

While this isn't the team's first rodeo, it's definitely their most ambitious to date, with a funding goal of 250000 NZ$ (about £125000 or US$190000 ) but it's clear that this is a passion project that Ariel has had in his mind since childhood and the funds are to be spend on quality 2D and 3D artists to make sure the game has the level of polish it deserves.

The game has already been greenlit on Steam (after only 10 days!) so if this sounds like your bag, then go check them out:
