4089: KickStart A Stealth RPG With User Content & Virtual Reality Headset Compatibility

Phr00t’s Software are hoping to KickStart the latest instalment to their successful "30x games" series, making it bigger and better than its four predecessors with help from people like you. 4089: Ghost Within will be a varied, open world RPG with user-created content, stealth, action and puzzle elements. You will be able to create your own weapons, enemies and rooms (levels) as well as playing with creations by others.

The game also encourages players to both construct and destruct, with the ability to create turrets and walls (etc) in real-time while they play, or destroy the environment as they see fit, possibly uncovering secrets. The AI will be advanced and the game has been dubbed as being “easy to learn but difficult to master”.

Available on PC, Linux and Mac, this new instalment aims to take things up a notch in many ways, the most interesting of which is its full compatibility with the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, enhancing the gaming and really giving that sci-fi feel to the experience. Players can also use the standard keyboard and mouse, or many of the compatible controllers including Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller peripheral.

With regards to the style for 4089, artist Swawa3D told us that
"We decided to go low poly for several reasons... First off, we love the crisp, bold, abstract look. It also minimizes complexity so we can focus on making a great game that will run smooth, even on old hardware..."

Two of the prior games were both successfully Greenlit by the Steam Community, with 3079 (2011) receiving “mixed” reviews from users and 3089 (early 2014) receiving “very positive reviews, and both games currently on sale with sixty percent off of the RRP (£4.99 for 3079 and £6.99 for 3089) to coincide with the release of the KickStarter Campaign.

If you are not quite willing to put your money into it just-yet, however, you can also download a special ten minute Demo of 3089 which has many features disabled but is promised to give you a good idea of what to expect from the full game, and its hopes-to-be-Kick-Started sequel.

The KickStarter Campaign is hoping to reach $3000 by Sunday November 09th 2014. Backers can support with as little as $1 and earn special thanks on the website, advanced access to the game, and many in-game benefits including the inclusion of a quote by them inside the game somewhere as an Easter Egg and the creation of an astronaut in their likeness placed into the 4089 setting.

For further details, you can view the KickStarter page, read about the game(s) on their website and of course connect with them through social media on FaceBook and Twitter.
