S.W.A.P. is a new free FPS with out the shooting. In S.W.A.P. the main tactical 'weapon' is simply swapping bodies with opposing team players. Sooooo Ok, but is that even a game? Well Chaos Theory Games seem to think they have a formula for a fun and challenging multiplayer without the core destructive mechanic typical of the genre.
They have done this by modifying the classic Capture the Flag format but instead of knocking out and out running your opponents you have to use the body swap to either advance into enemy sections or to misdirect the opposing units into traps or just away from their intended target. It's certainly fresh and makes the tournament even more tactical than it normally would be.
The Arena is decidedly Tron-esque
Chaos Theory Games have also stated that the game will remain free, and they do not intend to monetize it, however they have written that this is really a prototype of what is yet to come, a minimum viable product for the game mechanic. Yet they still want to create the next version from the ground up to be more scalable for bigger servers and more players, and for this to happen it will need funding. So expect to see a kickstarter campaign or other crowd sourcing tool to actually raise the funds.
