Asylum Jam - 48 hour horror game jam produces 50 free games

If you hadn't noticed, it was recently Halloween and to celebrate at the end of Oct, beginning of Nov, Gamejolt hosted the second annual Asylum Jam. A 48 hour long game jam to produce horror genre games without alluding to mental illness. The result is a strong field of 50 game entries from individuals and collaborations alike.

Quote:
Asylum Jam is a 48 hour long game jam where game developers are challenged to make a horror game and explore the genre without negative mental health or medical stereotypes.

The challenge, as was last year, is to create a horror game following this one rule: "1.) You should not use asylums, psychiatric institutes, medical professionals or violent/antipathic/’insane’ patients as settings or triggers."

The field varies from web-based to local install with many available on the full range of Mac,Windows and Linux. The bar is indeed very high with some terrifying projects which would be phenomenal if they were fleshed out to full games!
