Skyrim Anime Overhaul - Large overhaul mod of Skyrim into an Anime style

I wont tell a lie, I really do like watching Anime at the end a weekend. Usually I'll either be watching Dragon Ball Super, or something with a little more action and more gore. So what if you could turn the AAA game of Skyrim, into an Anime like style, well Vendayn has done just that with his mod release of the ' Skyrim Anime Overhaul '.

If your gaming youth goes back to the 90's, I'm sure you'll remember the high speed 3D Polygonal racer called ' Virtua Racing '. Which had its roots at the Arcades and was later ported to home systems such as the Sega Megadrive 32X by SEGA. But there is a new retro inspired game that has appeared, titled ' Racing Apex ' by Lucky Mountain Games,  which aims to bring the best of that awesome racer but adding in modern gameplay elements such as combat and multiplayer chaos.

Now as you may have already heard but just recently Covert Bitops released a truly awesome C64 game called ' Hessian '. It is an action adventure game with a high attention to detail, with lots of enemies, rooms and much more. Eye of the Beholder 4 - Fan sequel to an incredible Dungeon Crawler (WIP)!

Knightlore - Ultimate Play the Game classic gets an Amiga update

At the beginning of this month, we gave you the heads up via a big article mention, for tcdev's Amiga port of ' Knightlore ', which originally was an Ultimate Play the Game classic for systems such as the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum. Although it did drop a few jaws at the chance for people to play such a brilliant classic on the Amiga, many felt that apart from the bugs, the biggest negative was the black and white colourless detail, which really lacked for a port such as this. Well you'll be pleased to know, the developer may well be bringing the CPC graphics over to the Amiga version!

Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze - A Crazy adventure gets a Kickstarter!

As someone who is a huge fan of the Monty Python series and more especially the movies such as ' Monty Python and the Holy Grail ', it's not often we come across games that are like this with its witty charm, brain teasing humour and foot squashing antics. But that is about to change with the current adventure Kickstarter campaign for ' Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze ' by Jean-Baptiste de Clerfayt!

POSTAL Redux - HD overhaul of the original bloody shooter coming soon!

In 1997 Running With Scissors released the bloodiest isometric shooter of ' Postal ' for the PC. It was a game of maximum gore and carnage as you blasted and burned your way through citizens and armed NPCs affected by a madness plague. The game didn't gather the highest of scores and was very difficult, but thanks to a heads up by DSOGaming, this game is coming back as a HD Remaster with a higher level of detail and an all new Rampage Mode, which encourages an aggressive style of play by increasing a multiplier for each consecutive kill in a streak.

Ghouls 'n Goblins - Ghosts 'n Goblins overhaul in development for the GX4000 (UPDATE)

Way back in 1985 Capcom released the start of one of the greatest side scrolling platform game series we have ever known. It featured a knight, creepy enemies, lots of graves and was extremely difficult to the point of frustration. The game I am talking about is of course ' Ghost 'N Goblins ', the first game in the Ghosts 'n Goblins franchise which appeared on many different systems such as the Amstrad, C64 and ZX Spectrum. And it is that game from the Amstrad CPC version which is getting an overhaul called ' Ghouls 'n Goblins ' and is being developed for the GX4000!

The Year Video Games Died - An interesting look back at our retro past

Trawling through the big internet looking for that great retro update to pass the time of a boring week, I came across a fascinating video by Ahoy that takes a look at a time when the gaming industry nearly died a slow painful death. Yes many years ago before the time of the great 8-bit machines such as the Amstrad CPC 464, the C64 and the ZX Spectrum, there was a great era of gaming with the Atari 2600 that almost ended as a complete disaster, and it is that system where this story begins!

Super Night Riders - Motorbike riding retro inspiration out on Steam!

Through all these years of writing, we always get to see retro inspired games that are either platformers, shoot em ups or beat em ups. We've also seen the odd racer that looks like some sort of mental trip back to the 80's, but we have yet to see a decent Motorbike game, at least until now. This is Super Night Riders by Neko Works, a completely wild ride as you race through 36 beautiful stages in 6 challenging courses as fast and as far as possible to reach each checkpoint.

Balloon Girl - Tap your way through an endless loop for the Atari 2600

Another homebrew mention for this week but this time it's from theloon for the Atari 2600, is an in development homage to Balloon Fight on the NES called ' Balloon Girl '. This game looks closer to Flappy Bird rather than Balloon Fight as you must avoid obstacles in a constant side scrolling loop with only a one button control method at your disposal. By simply tapping this button this keeps your girl in the air while obstacles and enemies come at you from the right hand side. The further you travel, the higher your score!

Scourge of the Underkind - Game engine footage released for this in dev Amiga shooter!

In December of last year, Wayne Ashworth of the Commodore Facebook group, gave us the heads up for his new Amiga game that is currently in development using a new game engine that has been designed by Magnus for the use on an Amiga. This early teased game was called ' Scourge of the Underkind ' and is a top down Chaos Engine and GODS mix, with many enemies to blast, keys to pick up, coins to collect and treasure chests to be found. Today however, it was s2325's turn to give the game a mention as it has received a new video showing the game engine in use for the Amiga 500 ocs chipset!

Hessian - Action Adventure from Covert Bitops for the C64 is finally here!

Hot off the press and just released, the C64 retro community is finally able to play the action adventure game ' Hessian ' for the C64! Oh yes, a game that has been in development for years with a first preview appearing way back in 2012 is now ready for your gaming enjoyment. In this fine looking title, you play the role of Kim, a night security guard working the night shift at a Throne Group science complex who wakes up in an improvised emergency operating room. When the Group's inventions spiral out of control, she gets the unenviable part of becoming an augmented, misanthropic, heavily armed savoir and ready to kick ass!

Powerglove - The most ambitious Lazycow WIP Amiga game to date from the C64

In 2013 Lazycow released the C64 run 'n' shooter as an entry in the 2013 RGCD 16K C64 Game Development competition, where it came 3rd place out of 15. This same game then appeared as a final version and released as a 16KB physical game cartridge much later in 2014. But not stopping there, in 2015 the game was made available as an exclusive PC, MAC and Linux version based on the original with some minor enhancements, such as parallax scrolling and optional pimped spritework. But after all that you'd think the game wouldn't appear on any other systems seeing as it had gone from the retro to the modern. But during the early hours of today, RGCD has announced the Amiga conversion and in their words " Powerglove is already shaping up to be his most ambitious Amiga game to date ".

WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 7 - More bug fixes for the best Amiga emulator!

As we missed the other versions in our news postings, this is a bigger update than usual and from the look of it, we can't be that far off a final 3.3.0.

Dave Needle - Amiga Co-Founder & Atari Lynx Co-Inventor has passed away

After so many have passed away this year already, it is both with a heavy heart and sadness to say that Dave Needle, Co-Founder of the Amiga Computer, Co-Inventor of the Atari Lynx and vice-president of 3DO passed away yesterday 20/02/16.  Dave Needle was well known in the completion of the Lorraine project (Amiga 1000), and was also one of the main engineers of the custom chips of the Amiga computer. Later co-inventing the Atari Lynx which we knew as that cool little handheld that plays games such as California Games. Away from his Hardware engineering status, he was also a character, he had a great personality and was loved by many. As can be seen by the pictures provided by Marcel Franquinet and the video below.... RIP Dave Needle, you'll be missed!

Golf Daisuki!: O.B. Club - Anime sports SNES fun gets an English translation

I might be falling asleep at my computer, but I'm awake just enough to write about the latest English translation release of the SNES game ' Golf Daisuki!: O.B. Crazy Otto - Pac-Man style antics from Extend Mode - Gets a Steam Greenlight campaign!

We were recently given the heads up from one of our twitter followers, of a new game that's currently aiming for a Steam Greenlight success, that looks very similar to Pac-Man but with more than just your usual scattered pellets. In fact, ' Crazy Otto ' as the game is called, is actually a 2016 conversion of the Arcade game of the same name but developed by Extend Mode. Unlike that 1980's title though, this one adds an extra twenty four levels, eight simultaneous players, full support for vertical monitors and what I think sounds really awesome in ' Crazy Otto ', is the ability to play as either the good guys or the bad guys, and battle it out with your friends.

After our BIG review for the DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464, developed by Zaxon also known as Piotr Bugaj. Wonderboy in Monster Land SE - Alpha Amiga enhancement of a retro platformer

When I was a wee lad spending all my money down at the Arcades, one such game I used to love was that fantastic platformer ' Wonder Boy ' designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa. It started its life as a skateboard rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the adventure platformer with RPG elements ' Wonderboy in Monster Land ' that many of us know and love to this day. I myself mainly played it on the Amiga and although it was addictive as hell it suffered from being a straight Atari ST port with poor colours and long loading times. Thankfully our good friend Earok is now working on a ' Wonderboy in Monster Land SE ' version with more than just palette improvements.

Super Mario Kart goes mental with 101 players!

In the early 90s' Nintendo released one of the greatest go-kart racing games ever for the SNES, and that game was Super Mario Kart, which has sold well over 9 million copies in its life time. But even if the game was an awesome multiplayer experience battling your way through to first place, you have probably never seen it with 101 players. Well that's exactly what Hat-Loving Gamer has done with this great classic as the game is full to the brim with gaming characters spanning many years.

In this mini-metroidvania Gameboy style game, you play as a lonely knight seeking to defeat the evil force that resides in the Cuckoo Castle!

Lemmings Techno Remix by RIGELZ

It's incredible to think that this weekend was the 25th Anniversary of DMA Design's ' Lemmings ', a game published by Psygnosis way back in the early 90's for the Amiga, Atari ST and PC. It is one of the greatest games ever and featured many blue, green haired Lemmings that could be blown up, ripped apart and dropped from the highest of points before they even hope to reach that exit. But it wasn't just the digging, blocking and thought worthy gameplay that made people love it so, but it had some really chippy tunes that sound great even today. One of those tunes has been remixed by RIGELZ also known as Anton Eriksson, and although it's a short remix, the creator has promised to make it longer and for that I'm really grateful.

The Ship: Remasted - Murder mystery multiplayer enhanced delayed 22nd Feb

A bit of bad news today as we've been informed by Blazing Griffin that their murder mystery game ' The Ship : Remasted ' has been delayed based on feedback from the community. But not to worry as it has only been delayed for a week so it will now appear on 22nd Feb 2016. For those of you who haven't heard of this game, ' The Ship : Remasted ' is a remastered edition of the great 2006 game ' The Ship : Murder Party ' in which you play on a 1920's cruise ship and must murder someone without anybody watching while also avoiding being harmed yourself by other hunters.

Is the C64 palette far superior to the Amstrad CPC?

To this day people still argue over which is the better system way back in their gaming youth, it doesn't matter if it's the Amstrad, C64 and the ZX Spectrum, or the Amiga versus the Atari. It's a topic of conversation that has lasted many years and it's why so many Facebook groups are very computer specific, try posting an Amstrad in the ZX Spectrum group and see what happens. So what does a user by the name of SuTeKH/Epyteor do on the CPCWiki forums? He tries to prove that the Commodore 64 palette is far superior to the Amstrad CPC by converting many C64 pixel art images over to the Amstrad and comparing them! So in a word posting a C64 topic in an Amstrad group!

Hugohunt - A new C16/C64 game inspired by Atari XE German title! (UPDATE)

I think after this I'm going to take the weekend off, as it has been non stop this week with some fantastic game news from across the globe, but after today my brain feels like mush ;). But anyway, hot off the press is the new C16/C64 game ' Hugohunt ' by Angelsoft, which is inspired by an Atari XE German title from the 1980's, and unlike their previous early version announcement is officially finished.
