Desync – Neon FPS Arena game prepares for steam launch

Developers The Foregone Syndicate seem to be gearing up for a release of their upcoming title Desync. Currently in closed beta, with a projected release of simply 2016, Desync looks much more than a glowy Quake 3 Arena. Desync is more than just Pick-a-weapon-and-shoot- the-other-guy focusing on creative attack sequences to magnify your kill score.

Foregone are being fairly guarded about the exact details of the game mechanics but it’s clear that it revolves around a complex mechanism of attack sequences. Rather than just shoot one weapon, you build up your own arsenal of special moves called your Attack Sequence Codex. Making it more of "Tron meets Q3A meets Mortal Kombat".

The game has a beautiful shader style – making heavy use of scanline, CRT and palette shifting effects which overall isn’t texture heavy but yet incredibly detailed. If the Tron parallel isn't already clear, the point is hammered home in the teaser trailers with a soundtrack that could well have come straight out of the Tron Legacy OST.
DESYNC is an intense single-player first person action game that begs you to play dangerously and creatively. Enemies are unpredictable and varied, constantly barraging you with ranged and melee attacks. Eliminate your opponents as you perform violent attack sequences using the explosive digital weaponry and lethal side-arms at your disposal.
Use your weapons and movement masterfully to unleash an Attack Sequence – special moves that deal great damage and bonus effects. Launch an enemy off the ground with a well-placed explosive, and then hit another one while they’re in the air. Be creative and discover new Sequences, then store them in your AS-Codex.
  • FAST, REACTIVE, INTENSE FPS GAMEPLAY WITH A UNIQUE COMBO SYSTEM
  • ROBUST LEADERBOARDS WITH A CONSTANTLY CHANGING META LIFEBLOOD
  • VIBRANT, SLEEK, DIGITAL AESTHETICS IN A FOREBODING ATMOSPHERE
  • CHALLENGING ENEMIES WITH INTERESTING AI BEHAVIOUR
  • COMPLEX WEAPONSETS THAT ALLOW FOR VARIED PLAYSTYLES, RECOGNIZED BY THE GAME
Desync looks like one of the more interesting FPS games I've seen coming for a long time, with a potential to insert some real fresh air into what is otherwise becoming a stale and boring genre.

Keep an eye out on Desync's Steam page for actual release
or follow their Dev blog from the Desync website
