Kipper2K announces Cherry MX keyboards for the A500, A600 and A1200

New Amiga cases, new Amiga internal additions and Gotek installations how could anyone top that? Well how about the fact that as of this month Kipper2K has announced Cherry MX keyboards for the Amiga A500, A600 and A1200! These brand new keyboard additions to your overhauled Amiga are not just a set of switches, but are designed as a total drop in keyboard replacement that is sure excite anyone who has an Amiga!

As noted by Kipper2k on his website, this is the Cherry MX, a modern keyboard setup that replaces an old unreliable keyboard, that can be replaced with a much more reliable, responsive keyboard which can be easily fixed and parts are abundant. He also goes on to say there are only a few differences between the A500 and A1200 cases so using a universal designed Cherry MX board in either shouldn't be an issue.  (There will be slight differences between the 2 of them to allow for the LED board for the A1200 which is a separate screw on board).

So how do you go about getting these swish new keyboards? Well the best bet would be to join the discussion forum and place your interest. As currently it all depends on pre-orders and expected demand. See below from Kipper himself :

"As for the price, it all depends on Pre orders and expected demand, these are big bulky boards and shipping using faster means is pretty expensive so we will need to base customer cost on our expenditure and my initial dev costs.  Availability of these is not that far away, the basic boards take~ 10 - 12 days for me to get and the switches can be sourced from a US reseller (faster and more expensive) or ebay (slower and cheaper). The list for key caps purchases we will see what the discounts for bulk orders would be from my US supplier, The options for many colours (which are available) make it a more complicated process). There are over 200 colours available so you can see why it could be tricky to do a bulk order."
