Elite - David Braben's 8bit space combat trading simulator of Elite gets an Atari XL/XE port demo by reifsnyderb

Only just recently I was talking to a few friends about the original David Braben's 8-bit space combat trading simulator of Elite, and how we've seen a few fan based remakes appear as well as improvements and ports to different 8bit systems. But this latest news may interest you, if you have an Atari XL/XE however, as reifsnyderb has released a demo of a port to the Atari XL/XE. A version of the game you can see being played in the footage below.

Rebel Wars - The Amstrad and ZX Spectrum gets a great action game by Mananuk!

Paleto Jones 2, The Mandarin 2, Black Sea, The Mandarin 2, and many others were all created by Mananuk. A developer that likes creating different gaming styles on a multitude of systems, such as the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum. Well fast forward to today and as a double bonanza, he's released a new action game for yes you guessed it, the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum. A game whereby you play as the soldier of the star alliance Orion Kane and are tasked with boarding one of the enemy star corvettes.

Bug's Quest 2 - A challenging platformer from YB Software for the Amstrad CPC

This year has already seen a few nice titles released for the Amstrad CPC, but here is a lovely colourful homage to the Jet Set Willy/Chuckie Egg style of game, featuring the creators very own character, Novabug. Guide his likeness across many different screens to raise enough money for the "BIG C'" research while trying not to be damaged by many of the weird creatures spread throughout the game.

Syrion - The Time of The Dragon - A charming ZX Spectrum platformer by sisko_MSX

This week has been a little overwhelming with all the news; as soon as I'm about to say I'm done for today, along come even more games that I just had to mention. From Mixelslab's awesome Amiga game called 'Creeping Me Out Hex Night' to the recent hot news story from Norecess, with their latest game called 'Sonic the Hedgehog' for the Amstrad GX4000 and Amstrad Plus. Well, I'm not done with the news just yet, as I've been informed through Facebook that sisko_MSX has released the charming ZX Spectrum platformer called 'Syrion - The Time of The Dragon'.

Sonic GX - HOT NEWS as Sonic the Hedgehog has arrived on the Amstrad GX4000 and Amstrad Plus!

When I was a youngster I had the pleasure of playing the fantastic platformer of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive. A game which featured a ring collecting blue hedgehog, that could spin, run, jump and roll about, at the fastest of speeds in a battle against a number of menacing enemies and the main antagonist Doctor Eggman. So why is this game getting an mention on IndieRetroNews? Well, I've just been told by Xyphoe, that Norecess and team has released the impressive Amstrad GX4000 and Plus conversion of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Whack-A-Skull - Smashing skulls in this new Halloween Amiga game from Alberto Sgaggero

The last Halloween game from me today as I've just been told that Alberto Sgaggero has released the AMOS BASIC programmed game called 'Whack-A-Skull' by Alberto Sgaggero. A new Commodore Amiga game, whereby you need whack as many as Skulls as possible for a high score. Dia de los Muertos and Amstrad Eterno X - Two Amstrad games to enjoy this week!


Usually I do one game at a time! But with so many appearing this week I thought it would be best to feature not one, but two Amstrad games that might be worth checking out. The first one is called Dia de los Muertos by Vitop69, and the second one is called Amstrad Eterno X by Capasoft. Two very difficult platformers that you will either enjoy or tear your hair out in frustration. To coincide with this news, provided below are gameplay videos from each of these Amstrad homebrews.

P.T. - Haplo's Horror game released for the Commodore 64

Even more Halloween games to get through as looking through the itch io website, we've found out that the developer of Haplo. Who was behind games such as Tenebra, Ooze: The Escape, and Nixy and the Seeds of Doom has released the Commodore 64 horror game called 'P.T'. A game that the developer describes as, an interactive teaser for the video 2014 game Silent Hills. To coincide with this news, if you like horror games make sure to check out the video below.

Xenomaze - A creepy first person maze game for the ZX Spectrum for Halloween

If you're at home and looking for a scary game that fits right in with Halloween, come and check out Red Zebra's ZX Spectrum game called 'Xenomaze'. A first person maze game, that will have you aiming for the exit as quick as possible, before you become food for the monster that is hunting you down. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video that has already received feedback such as "too scary, I'm not playing". 

Creeping Me Out Hex Night - An awesome looking Amiga platformer by Mixelslab gets a new demo

We have just been told a new demo has been released for the eagerly awaited Scorpion Engine developed Commodore Amiga game called 'Creeping Me Out : Hex Night by Mixelslab. A high quality game that's mixes it up with a bit of Castlevania, and hints of Addams Family. To coincide with this demo update, Saberman has also done a video showing the game in action.

Green Beret - The Commodore 16 gets a far superior version of Green Beret compared to the original release!

Green Beret was an action arcade game released by Konami in 1985. It is remembered for its Cold War setting and its reliance on the player using mainly a knife to dispatch enemies, although you were able to collect many different weapons to aid you in combat. Green Beret was one of the hardest games I had ever played and yet was one of the games that gave me the best memories! Sadly however if you had the Commodore 16 version, it was widely regarded as one of the worst video games ever made. Well at least until now...

ROGUEish - Check out this awesome roguelike C64 game by Syntaxerrorsoftware

I do love a good roguelike, it's one of my favorite genres to play, especially when I'm delving deep into dark dungeons looking for decent loot and avoiding many of the nasties contained within. So if like me, you like that sort of gaming experience. Then make sure to check out Syntaxerrorsoftware's  Commodore 64 game of 'ROGUEish'. A rogue-like for the C64 computer (either via emulation or on real Hardware) that even comes with a demo for you to try right now!

Dylan the Spaceman - A Dizzy clone demo'd for the Amiga 600/1200 by Camden Town Games

As many of you know when it comes to Dizzy, that little white egg has a special place on this site. We have featured art work, collections and fan based games, but what we have for you today isn't exactly a Dizzy game, but it's a Dizzy clone called 'Dylan the Spaceman' by Camden Town Games for the Commodore Amiga. A game that was been made using the Reality game creative software with the adventure skeleton disk.

Escape from PETSCII Castle - A WIP Wolfenstein 3D inspiration but for the Commodore C64 by Jimbo

This week we have been flooded with awesome Amiga games, so to change all that, here's the latest update from Jimbo, his newest of WIP creations for the Commodore C64 called ' Escape from PETSCII Castle'. A Wolfenstein 3D inspiration from the same creator who released other games on different systems such as PETSCII Bros, PET Panic!, PET Space Invaders 2 and TREKWAR. Danger Dennis - Devlab/TSA and Virtual Dimension's single screen platformer is still coming to the Amiga and C64 [UPDATE]

At some point in the near future, Devlab/TSA and Virtual Dimensions are going to release the full version of their currently in development arcade single screen platformer of 'Danger Dennis' for the Commodore Amiga and C64. A game in which they have described as, a jump’n’run game that is loosely inspired by the gameplay mechanics of Mr. Robot and His Robot Factory.
