  1. I'd been so looking forward to this - I played for a very short while in the beta (about 20 minutes) to check out the controls - same as before, which was okay with me.
    Then offline got pulled from the game, changing the experience for me. Elite was always just me against a universe on a floppy disk; now it's become an MMO with persistent online, yet empty experience, and already DLC in the form of skin packs for ships. Without a subscription model in place, one has to wonder where the income to sustain the experience will come from.
    It's still an admirable technical and graphical achievement, albeit not the one that I looked forward to (nor the one described by Frontier when they solicited all their initial funding).
