We are a huge fan of shoot 'em ups and vertical shooters on Indie Retro News, from the sci-fi based shoot 'em up of R-Type to Capcom's brilliant World War 2 vertical Shooter of 1942. Well here we are with another Arcade game announcement, as thanks to Saberman contacting us today, we have been told that Magnus T together with JMD is working on a Commodore Amiga remake of 'Flying Shark'; A 1987 vertically scrolling shooter arcade video game that was originally developed by Toaplan and released on the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, FM Towns, MS-DOS, Nintendo Entertainment System, X68000 and ZX Spectrum!
Although a playable(?) work in progress version is available to download, originally many people felt the Amiga version that was released in 1988 by firebird was not only a bad conversion of a great Arcade game, but many people also felt that it had repetitive gameplay, was pretty dire, and according to stooart on the Lemon Amiga forums, the Amiga could have handled the arcade gfx with no probs. So here we are with this new remake of the game, and while we are unsure of how far development will go, and if it will end up like the one at the Arcades ( It would be nice ), now's your chance to play this very early preview and see for yourselves!
Please make sure to check out all the greets and thanks in the game before start! :)
