Break It 2022 - An upcoming Arkanoid/Break Out style game for the Atari XL/XE by Oliver Cyranka

If you remember Arkanoid; an arcade game first developed by Taito in 1986, with the bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, bouncing an orb back and forth and smashing blocks for a high score. Then you might like this news update! As thanks to Saberman contacting us through Facebook, he has told us that while the ABBUC competition 2022 is still on going, one of those games entered is a Arkanoid/Break Out style game of 'Break It 2022' by Oliver Cyranka.

So what's the gameplay like? Well to be honest if you've ever played Breakout or Arkanoid, then you already know what to expect. If you haven't however, basically all you need to do is bounce the ball into the bricks enough times to clear them from the screen to move on to the next level. The game features many different levels, different backgrounds and themes, different enemy types, and bonus power ups such as extra firepower that give you the edge. So yes certainly one to look out for when it becomes a public download after the competition is finished.

  2. This game is a tech demo for the graphic and color capabilities of this platform plus a great demonstration of Poke's High Pass Sound Filter allowing it to produce sawtooth sound waves without any cpu help.
