Flying Shark - WIP Flying Shark remake for the Commodore Amiga gets a 3 level playable demo

It was just recently that we gave you the heads up that the 1987 Arcade game of 'Flying Shark' was being remade for the Amiga by none other than Magnus T together with JMD. Well if you were hoping for more news on this Arcade like version of the game, which was originally developed by Toaplan and released on the Amiga as well as many other systems. Then as of today the creator has just released a 3 level playable demo for you to try requiring an Amiga 500, 7.14 mhz cpu, OCS/ECS, 1 MB and 1.3 ROM.

As we said before, originally many people felt the Amiga version that was released in 1988 by firebird was not only a bad conversion of a great Arcade game, but many people also felt that it had repetitive gameplay, the port was lazy, and the Amiga could have handled the arcade gfx with no problems. So here we are with this new remake of the game, and while we are unsure of how far development will progress, already we can see the game looks better than ever in this new work in progress footage and 3 level DEMO!

  1. Well...much more fluid if we compare this "enhanced" edition respect the old disastrous port from Firebird in 88 but...now it's almost identical to the St version! A decent attempt but Amiga can be worth of a true "pixel perfect" port in my opinion!

    1. I would not mind changing the Deluxe Paint 2 look against the arcade but that might be more effort. The formation now seem to deviate more from the arcade from what I saw.

    2. i agree that a pixel perfect arcade port could be possible now. but this seem like a huge improvement anyway

  5. dont u just hate when there comes waves from behind XD.. this port looks pretty decent, 50fps fluid.. the music is mediocre to my ears but in truth the arcade music isnt very good either. there could be more details to the explosions and enemy hits to make it feel more like the arcade experience. but overall a very good job with this.

    1. the fact is that this version is graphically identical to the atari st-f version from Firebird...yeah the scroll is fluid but for the rest it's the same game coded for a way weaker machine (no blitter,no hw scrolling,no copper, only 16 colors on screen..) and the port itself was already "back in the time",mediocre at best for the atari! This enhanced version is way harder than the original and much more harder than the arcade version!! The enemy waves from behind and sometimes even from the sides of the screen are almost unavoidable!!
