Commando - This Hack/Mod of an 8bit classic looks rather super now on the ZX Spectrum

Saberman has contacted us to let us know that tiboh'24-26 has announced the release of a hack/mod of Commando for the ZX Spectrum. A new version of the game which not only overhauls the intro graphics, but it now features AY-Music which brings it more in line with other systems such as the Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and Commodore 64. Not to be confused with the awesome Arnie flick of the same name (though equally as awesome), Commando is a 'one man takes on all' shooter (also like the awesome film) whereby it is your mission to kill anything that moves to progress to the next level.

The classic vertical scrolling shoot-'em-up Commando has received a massive overhaul on the ZX Spectrum. A highly anticipated modification tailored for both 48k and 128k hardware has breathed fresh life into the iconic 1985 arcade port, delivering a heavily enriched presentation and a wealth of cross-platform bonuses. The game now features an alternative loading screen from Jarrod Bentley in the intro, intro's GFX from Commodore 64, AY-Music from the Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and Commodore 64, and finally a congratulatory message at the end of 8th level!
