Dig Dug & Mario Bros - Two Arcade classics ported over to the Amiga/Atari ST via AI by TjLaZer

Welcome to the Commodore Amiga port of Namco’s 1982 arcade classic, Dig Dug, rewritten for OCS/ECS or AGA, 512K chip RAM by developer TjLaZer with the assistance of modern AI tools. This conversion brings the Arcade classic to the Amiga, featuring original graphics, accurate round layouts, and iconic sound effects. Players can expect all the classic gameplay mechanics, including ghosting enemies, fire-breathing Fygars, falling rocks, and a high-score table for the top five diggers. Lastly, the game automatically detects and adjusts for PAL and NTSC systems—providing a side-panel score view on PAL and a scrolling display on NTSC—while maintaining the arcade’s true 60Hz speed across both formats.

TjLaZer has also launched with the help of AI, an Amiga OCS port of Nintendo’s 1983 arcade hit, Mario Bros. This version translates the sewer-clearing action to the Amiga using a 32-color low-resolution palette that captures the original arcade aesthetic, complete with smooth sprite animations and the screen-shaking POW block effect. The developer hopes the game delivers performance at 60 frames per second on both PAL and NTSC machines, even allowing players to manually toggle the display rate using the F5 key. Lasty the game also supports simultaneous two-player cooperative action via dual joysticks.

[ATARI ST UPDATE] TjLaZer has converted over to the Atari ST with the help of AI, both Dig Dug and Mario Bros and they can be found (here)

    1. I saw your posts on EAB, step away from the computer this man be raging! :) To be honest these aren't too bad, I'd class AI Slop as ports that look and run really badly. Although I've not featured a lot of games, there's just so many good and bad ones now. I think there was something like 20-30 AI games these last two weeks and 1 or 2 non AI. And that's just Amiga!

    2. And this is great stuff. Since before you had almost nothing - we should be happy - AI will get better at this so as time goes by more quality stuff will pop out of the AI realm.

  2. I know it's fashion to complain about AI assisted ports, but with these running well on a base spec A500 I don't think that's fair

  4. Looks good - but best of all, it's running perfectly well on an OCS Amiga! WTF??? A conversion of a simple arcade game from 1982??? Normally that requires an AGA Amiga with 64 MB of FAST ram with dual-core 68060 processors and eight accelerators - and all to get it running in four colours at 8 frames per second.

If this is the future of AI conversions, then I'm all for it! Could it be that one day we will see decent conversions of Arkanoid or Pang! or Silkworm or Pac-mania or Rainbow Islands running on the OCS Amiga??? Just kidding - I know that even for AI, that would be impossible.

    1. Silkworm on the Amiga is better than the Arcade original.
