Developed by Bob for the ZX Spectrum, X=Y=Z is a fun based puzzler in which you need to roll, slide, twist and teleport your cube around the levels in order to reach the exit. According to Bob, X=Y=Z is the spiritual successor to W*H*B but uses a different game mechanic that is both complex and difficult to master.

Life of Pixel - A great retro inspired Arcade Platformer goes C64
In June of last year we preview featured a brilliant retro inspired game that had all of my childhood wrapped up into one neat little platformer, and that game was Life of Pixel by the developer Super Icon. Dedicated to the classic gaming machines of our time, Life of Pixel had you playing as a blocked pixel, traversing through 72 levels of retro gaming fun spread over 9 historic machines. It was so so much fun, probably one of the best retro inspired games I've played this year. So it was great news today from the developers that they have released a fully featured demo browser version with eight Commodore 64 levels.
The Amstrad CPC 464 - Celebrating 30 Years, new feature!
On the 16th of June we featured a big article relating to the celebration of the Amstrad's 30 year birthday, and with great success it got many people talking about one of the best systems of the 1980's! Although it didn't stand up to the C64 or the Speccy, it was still regarded as a great 8-bit system that had 64 KB Ram, internal tape deck and either a green screen or the more expensive colour monitor. But today we have something special to show you, as Xyphoe has done a special video for the The Amstrad CPC 464. Celebrating 30 Years! (featuring Darran Jones, Larry Bundy Jr, Steve Benway). So check it out and relive the golden era of the 8-bit systems!

Terrahawks - Videopac homebrew release for the ZX Spectrum
Originally developed for the Odyssey2 (Videopac), Terrahawks is a Shoot 'em up style game that feels like Space Invaders but far more action packed, especially as enemies can move around the screen at a rapid rate while trying to take you out. This more recent version is a homebrew ZX Spectrum port, developed by gazj82 that should work on just about any Spectrum. In Terrahawk you play the member of an elite group of trained specialists and it's your duty to defend Earth against the dangers from space.
Reckpunk - A weird and wonderful platform runner from Damien(dlan)
If there's one thing that stands out for me other than curious gameplay is an unusual artstyle, and when it comes to Reckpunk by Damien(dlan), a strange artistic design is certainly one of them. With a release date of September 2014 for the PC, Reckpunk features 8-bit graphics with the game play of that of a platform runner. Throughout this game your reaction counts, you must avoid obstacles and move platforms with the use of your mouse and with this design it really works. Not only is Reckpunk a great looking 8-bit styled game, which would probably look good on a Spectrum it also features fun and challenging game play.
