Cowboy Duel Junior - Live Your Dream ...Again! - Dueling fun for C64


Once again the C64 gets another homebrew release, (poor Amstrad) and for once it's not a shoot em up or a platformer, but an upto two player duel-er. " Cowboy Duel Junior - Live Your Dream ...Again is a fine release as you play as a Cowboy and must kill the other player either AI or a friendly opponent using the secondary joystick port. There are a number of desert scenes available to play on, which really gives it that authentic 8-bit Cowboy feel.

Rock Boshers DX - ZX Spectrum inspired shooter set for multiplatform release


Tikipod have just announced that Rock Boshers DX : Martian Adventure will be available next week for PS4/Vita/PC/MAC/Linux. With a backdrop of glorious eye popping ZX Spectrum colour in HD 4K detail, Rock Boshers DX will be a nostalgic trip back to the 8bit days as you fight across Mars and escape back home and away from your ordeal of rock bosh mining after an evil double cross.

Battle Tank 3D - New ZX Spectrum homebrew shooter!


Gabriele Amore has just released his own little game for the ZX Spectrum, and to be honest, it's pretty enjoyable. This is an action shooter where you are to defend the planet from the evil Aliens; with a powerful tank at your disposal exploring the desert you must take out the oncoming foe. The graphics are perfectly adequate, with fun game play and lots of bleeps and blop sound effects which is typical of the ZX.

#CPCRetroDev - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest


We haven't featured an Amstrad CPC homebrew title in ages, so instead of featuring one, we are going to feature lots of brand new retro releases from the #CPCRetroDev - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest. In all 16 games were submitted to the Spanish contest from shooters to puzzle games, and the three main winners were : Super Retro Robot Rampage, Orc's Dungeon and The Legend of CPCerdo.

Dungeon Hunt Gold Edition - Retro dungeon crawler for the Atari 8 Bit Home Computer!


Here's a treat for all you crawlerheads with an affinity for the odd and obscure! The Gold edition of Dungeon Hunt, a brand new first-person dungeon crawler for the Atari 8 Bit Home Computer, is available for pre-order.

Leovigildo - Multi-Game for ZX Spectrum!


Another day another homebrew release for the ZX Spectrum and today's release is Leovigildo; an action adventure puzzle game developed by Mojon Twins. Unlike most ZX Spectrum games, Leovigildo features 3 chapters separated into different stories by blocks. The game is divided into three different blocks, one per chapter, which load independently and which you can play freely.

Eye of the Beholder - Dungeon Crawler homebrewed for C64!


As I was trawling the internet looking for a decent dungeon crawler soundtrack, I came across a set of Eye of the Beholder releases that piqued my interest. Although we have featured pretty much every one of them so far, I did not expect to come across an Eye of the Beholder remake for C64. First released by Instinct in 2006 and stalled development through 2011, Eye of the Beholder 1 C64 features an impressive smooth grid based movement which I had not seen before on such an old system such as this.

Reformation - C64 Track remakes by Matt Gray gets a Kickstarter!


What a great year this is turning out to be, with the previous Kickstarter of the Commodore Amiga: a visual Compendium and now Reformation; a definitive set of Matt Gray C64 games soundtrack remakes, produced by the acclaimed C64 musician himself. For anyone that loves Retro and remembers the good old days, this is a re-visitation of his finest tracks enhanced with today's upbeat technology.

Halloween 2014 - Musical treat for C64 owners!


As we have just over 1 hour left of Halloween lets finish it off with a fine C64 tune released by Software of Sweden. A tune so good, it feels like an up beat 8-bit horror mix. Don't expect a great amount of background wizardry but do expect a cool image that really suits the time of the month!

Monty's Last Strike and Dark Tricks - The latest Halloween Homebrew Releases for ZX Spectrum!


As it is still Halloween, we must continue the ghastly theme and mention two of the latest ZX Spectrum titles to appear. Both released by Dazman and both full of retro antics; Monty's Last Strike & Dark Tricks, are two arcade platformers that are freely available for the 8-bit ZX Spectrum.

Willy The Wasp 2 - The ZX Spectrum sequel that's full of colour!


The thoughts of Summer are fast disappearing as the weather is turning colder and the leaves are falling. But there's one good point to an end of summer, none of those Wasps! Well at least the real ones anyway, as here we are with a ZX Spectrum sequel "Willy The Wasp 2". Probably the most colourful of Homebrew ZX Spectrum games we've played, full of detailed rooms and 8-bit music.

Page's Castle Quest - David Pagett's first ZX Spectrum title!


Welcome to Page's Castle Quest, David Pagett's very first ZX Spectrum title. An Arcade Platformer for the ZX Spectrum with simple mechanics, as you avoid enemies and collect scattered loot. In this fine homebrew release, you play as the local hero that has to collect as much hoard as possible and escape, all because of an Alien spaceship that has crashed into the castle and scattered the treasure throughout the land.

Zen - The latest homebrew puzzle game for Speccy!


It's time once again to look towards the ZX Spectrum for the latest homebrew release and this time it's a very addictive Puzzle game that works on all standard Spectrums. Developed by Einar with 5 great intro songs, and lots of levels to play, you are put through many challenges of moving piped puzzles around to complete the objective.

Another Dizzy Day - EgoTrip once again goes retrogaming!


EgoTrip developer of the previous Dizzy game; Dizzy's Poker Night, which was his very first Dizzy Age title, has now moved onto his second release, Another Dizzy Day. For anyone that is a huge fan of that little white egg, especially going by our Facebook group at least, you can now play another Dizzy game in an all new adventure. Even though not much is known about the story, when it comes to these EgoTrip releases, you'll just know it's going to be enjoyable. When it comes to Dizzy, I'm sure he will once again be picking up items, talking to npc's and solving puzzles.

The Legend of Traxtor - Match 3 fun for the ZX Spectrum


Owners of the great 8-bit system the ZX Spectrum may want to check out the latest match 3 game "The Legend of Traxtor" by reidrac. Recently appearing as a #gbjam 3 entry and now ported over to the ZX Spectrum, has you tasked with the matching of 3 coloured shapes and objects to obtain a high score. Gamers who remember titles such as Tetris will find this latest release both fun to play and an ever increasing challenge.

Tycoon Dizzy - Andrew Gouldings first DizzyAGE game!


It has been some time since we've featured a new fan based Dizzy game and thanks to a mention on our Dizzy : Retrogaming group, we finally have a new Dizzy game to play. Developed by Andrew Goulding as his first DizzyAGE game, you once again play as Dizzy in a brand new story that's a joy to play and brings back those retro 8-bit days.

Lawless Legends RPG Corral! and other updates


Seth of 8-Bit Weapon and his 8-Bit Bunch have rolled out their new website for the Apple ][ RPG "Lawless Legends" that is currently in development. The header title is appropriately named...The Lawless Legends RPG Corral!

Speccy Jam 2 has now finished - So many great retro games for free!


I've got a huge respect for developers of both indie and retro games, thus throughout the end of last month and into this month September, I've been keeping my keen eye on the retro developments during the Speccy Jam 2. A jam in which people from around the world came together to create brand new retro inspired games in the flavour of that 8-bit hit, the ZX Spectrum. Now the Speccy Jam 2 is over and winners yet to be decided, you can now play loads of fantastic retrotastic games that make you feel like you've gone back to the 1980's.

Megaman Battle 3 - Retro Action Platformer gets a crossover!


There's probably not one person on this page who hasn't heard of Mega Man, the robotic kick ass character who originally started his action packed platforming days in the late 1980's. First released on the NES and one of Capcom's most prolific franchises, you can now play a fan based crossover fighting game with 18 of the characters from that original gaming classic.
