Wonderboy III - Monster Lair (AGA) is still in the works for the Commodore Amiga!

We've featured Wonderboy many times now on Indie Retro News, from the Amiga version of Wonderboy in Monster Land SE, to the previously released Wonderboy 1200; An Arcade game from 1986 as an unofficial Amiga port by Acidbottle. Well here we are with another Wonderboy story to keep you company, as we have recently found out through Twitter, that Acidbottle has teased some new footage of his upcoming game of Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (AGA); An in development game for the Commodore Amiga using Earok's excellent Scorpion Engine! 

Rick Dangerous - A platforming classic as a remastered edition for the Amiga 1200/CD32!

If you remember playing the late 80's game of 'Rick Dangerous'; a very challenging platformer that made you feel like an Indiana Jones character traversing dangerous locations such as caves and temples while avoiding the bad guys and deadly boulders and spiked traps, then you might like this latest news story sent to us by Per Ola Eriksson. As he was kind enough to inform us earlier today, that the graphically overhauled version of Rick Dangerous by The Z-Team, has just been updated with a kick ass release for 2023!

Temptations - An UPDATED Amiga 1200/CD32 port(?) demo of an MSX game released back in 1988

You might like this Amiga news story that's just been sent to us by Saberman, as we've been told that an EAB member of 'S0Y', has released an UPDATED demo of a work in progress game called 'Temptations'. A game which according to the developer, is a Redpill Amiga conversion of an MSX game that was released way back in 1988 by Topo Soft. To coincide with this news story, Saberman has also done a gameplay video for you to view if you wish to see if the game is any good before downloading the new demo.

Inviyya II : Hyperblaster - Tigerskunk's eagerly awaited sequel to an incredible Amiga Shoot 'em up gets new footage (Amiga/Neo Geo)

If you have played TIGERSKUNK's awesome side scrolling shoot 'em up of Inviyya, an incredible game that not only won IRN Game of the Year 2021, but many of those who played it thought it was one of the best games on the Amiga, then this latest news story is for you! As we've recently found out through Facebook, that Tigerskunk has shown off some brand new footage of the eagerly awaited sequel of Inviyya II - Hyperblaster. Yet another awesome looking Shoot em up which is coming to the Amiga 1200, 4000, CD32 and Neo Geo.

Athanor 2 - The Legend Of The Birdmen - A brilliant Amiga game is getting an AGA edition!

Sometime back we informed you that the Amiga game Athanor 2 - The Legend of the Birdmen was not only a fabulous looking Adventure game that was programmed in C and is the sequel to the 8bit 2015-2016 game of 'Athanor', but we also announced the game was released as a gorgeous boxed edition much to the delight of the Amiga community. Well if you missed out on the game and still want to get your hands on it, it might be worth keeping an eye out for the latest AGA edition, which is coming soon to the Amiga 1200 and above!

We've featured Wonderboy many times now on Indie Retro News, from the modern remake of Wonderboy The Dragons Trap, to the Amiga versions of Wonderboy in Monster Land SE, and the upcoming Wonderboy 1200; An Arcade game from 1986 as an unofficial Amiga port by Acidbottle. Well here we are with another Wonderboy story, as Earok recently contacted us, to let us know that Acidbottle may also start on a project to bring Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair over to the Amiga 1200 using the Scorpion Engine. Although he does state this might happen when the Wonderboy 1200 port is done!

Spear of Destiny & Wolfenstein 3D - Two classic MS-DOS FPS gets a final version download for the Amiga 1200 via BSZili!

It was only just the other day that we announced through Indie Retro News that BSzili was aiming to bring the full version of the classic ID Software game of 'Wolfenstein 3D' and 'Spear of Destiny' over the A1200 with some Fast RAM, no CPU accelerator required. Well fast forward to today and not only can you play the final version of Wolfenstein on your Amiga 1200 but BSzili has also released the final version of Spear of Destiny over to the Amiga as well. Two incredible games that any Amiga 1200 owner fitting those requirements above should try at least once!

As thanks to a heads up from Saberman, we've found out that the in development remastered edition which is coming to the Amiga 1200 and CD32 using Earok's Scorpion Engine, is ready for testing as the first public beta!

If you remember playing the late 80's game of 'Rick Dangerous'; a very challenging platformer that made you feel like an Indiana Jones character traversing dangerous locations such as caves and temples while avoiding the bad guys and deadly boulders and spiked traps, then you might like this latest news story. As trawling through Facebook this evening, we've found out that the upcoming 32 color edition which is being developed for the Amiga 600, 1200 and CD32 using Earok's Scorpion Engine, has been teased again with even more in game footage!

We've always had a soft spot for that classic Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and DOS game 'Rick Dangerous'; a very challenging action platformer from the late 80's, that made you feel like an Indiana Jones character traversing dangerous locations such as caves and temples while avoiding the bad guys and deadly boulders and spiked traps. Well if you remember this fine game (some people didn't like it) and have an Amiga 1200 or a CD32, Z-Team has announced an enhanced 32 color edition that's currently in development using Earok's Scorpion Engine!

WarpGate - An early mock up Run'n'Gun possibly coming to the Amiga 1200?

With it being Monday and lots of games to feature, the first one to be mentioned as a heads up from Per Ola, is the mock up 'Run'n'Gun' game called WarpGate. Although the game does have some early footage viewable below or linked here, according to the creator Marchie and his friend who is behind this game. They are hoping to release it for the Amiga 1200 with the hope to release it on other platforms as well down the line. To coincide with the news, the team behind the game have shown what has been created so far using DPaint.

Low cost Vampire Raptor 1200 accelerator is on the way and we are excited!

Chances are if you have an Amiga 500, you'll be looking out for the PiStorm, an adapter board intended to be paired with a Raspberry Pi Model 3A which offers additional features, like fast graphics acceleration, SCSI disk emulation, and the ability to run whatever Kickstart ROM you so desire. But for those of you with an Amiga 1200, you'll need to look elsewhere for your acceleration power house, but rather than the long wait times and high cost of a Vampire accelerator, then the Vampire Raptor 1200 Accelerator might just the piece of hardware your Amiga 1200 thanks you for (and so does your wallet)

SkillGrid - A wicked AGA Shoot em up released for the Commodore Amiga


Even more Amiga news for this week and one I think you'll agree is pretty damn awesome! As we've just been told by RGCD that the previously work in progress Shoot em up called ' SkillGrid ', has just been released and can be purchased through the RETREAM and or RGCD website. This game of which we have featured before, is an endless score-attack vertical shoot 'em up that has been in development by RETREAM and works on an Amiga 1200/4000 and cd32!

Even more Amiga news for a Monday and one I think you'll agree is pretty damn awesome! As we've just been told the upcoming Shoot em up called ' SkillGrid ', has just received a massive gameplay trailer showing just how cool this Amiga game actually looks. This game in development by RETREM is an endless score-attack vertical shoot 'em up which is currently in development, and will be released (hopefully) in Q1 2019.

The Kiwi's Tale - A commercial length platformer for A1200/CD32, a fan-sequel to The New Zealand story! [UPDATE]


You can just tell it's Christmas especially with all these fantastic games coming out at once. And sure enough as a Christmas gift to you all, Earok has released the A1200 and CD32 version of ' The Kiwi's Tale '; a commercial length platformer for the Amiga1200 and CD32, as a fan-sequel to The New Zealand story and itself an almost 1-1 conversion of a freeware PC title from the late 2000s. Earok has noted this game is partly an apology for not having completed AlarCity (yet), but it's also something he's wanted to bring to the Amiga for some time - as well as being an opportunity to train in new skills for Amiga game development.

Kipper2K pre-orders for Cherry MX keyboards for the A500, A600 and A1200

The Big Red Adventure - Multi-platform Adventure game, gets a DamienD Amiga release


In 1995 Core Design released ' The Big Red Adventure ' as a sequel to a very fun and comedic Adventure game ' Nippon Safes Inc ', which was released on multiple platforms such as the PC, as well as a CD-ROM for the Amiga 1200 and A4000 in 1997 by Power Computing. This rather well known game, which takes place in Russia after Michael Gorbatsjov's Perestroika, has been unofficially re-released for the Amiga by DamienD but this time without the need for the CD.
