Micro Gotek - Move over chunky Gotek Floppy Emulator it's time to go Micro

Now it seems the original Gotek might be about to go the way of the DODO bird, as today we've come across the Micro Gotek, a Gotek Floppy Emulator that's so small it's only 47x46 mm!

Hibernated 1 - This Place is Death - Text based adventure for multiple retro systems inc Amiga/Atari ST

Text Adventures were many of our first forays into video gaming. The latest release by Stefan Vogt is one such classic text based adventure game and although it is a sci-fi adventure known as Hibernated 1: This Place is Death, it will still feel right at home for anyone who likes entering text based commands such as EXAMINE BODY, CHECK CORPSE, INSPECT DEAD!

In 2016 we were the first to announce another of Chris Wilkins Kickstarters regarding The story of the Commodore Amiga in pixels, which as always was a resounding success hitting a very respectable £60,890 goal. However this article isn't so much about the book, but one of the perks as at the time it was the first proper hints that the Atari ST version of Starquake was going to be ported over to the Amiga.

If you remember Arkanoid; an arcade game first developed by Taito in 1986 or Arkanoid - Revenge of Doh released in 1987 , with the bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, bouncing an orb back and forth and smashing blocks for a high score. "Super Cars" was developed by Magnetic Fields and published by Gremlin Graphics in the early 90's for the Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, MSX, NES and even the ZX Spectrum. The core of the gameplay was to race around tough tracks, earning money, then purchasing better weapons and power-ups to beat the competition in one of the best top down Amiga racing games as the prequel to the even better Super Cars II. Thankfully memories live on with this game as GamesNostalgia has made available a portable Amiga to MAC/PC edition of this game for all to enjoy.

The Atari ST and the Creative People Vol 1 - An awesome Atari ST book is now available

Way back in 2016 we mentioned a great Kickstarter that gave the Atari ST priority over other systems we have spoken about countless times before, such as the C64, Spectrum and even the Amiga. This Kickstarter was a crowd funding campaign for 'The Atari ST and the Creative People: Anthology'; A Marco A. Breddin book that according to the creator is a captivating Demoscene story of a European swarm intelligence, which fought against a truly limited 16-bit machine to create an exceptional style of digital art. Well you'll be pleased to know that Vol 1 is now available to buy and will be shipped within 5 - 10 days!

When I was but a we'lad I played in my opinion one of the best ever games ever to grace a computer; a game whereby you could not only control Dragons, but you could breed them AND use Alchemy to either improve or if failure, make them sick before the battle ahead. It just had to be the ultimate Dragon game, Dragon's Breath AKA Dragon Lord by Palace Software, LTD and Spotlight Software in 1990. Which has also been unofficially made available via GamesNostalgia as a freely launchable exe file for PC and Mac.

Prince Of Persia - Hit classic is audio and performance enhanced on the Atari STe

From 1989 onwards Brøderbund released the hit classic action platformer game 'Prince of Persia' on a multitude of systems such as the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and MS-DOS. A true brilliance for its time and still worth playing today, featured many platforming levels and high danger which was usually met with falling floors, sword wielding enemies, crashing grates and at worst deadly spikes. This incredible game however has again appeared in our news feeds, but this time thanks to a heads up by AtariCrypt has been audio-enhanced by Peter Putnik for the Atari STe.

Now some of you may remember this game from the late 1980's that's because it was released on both the Amiga and Atari ST by Hewson, and featured a number of levels, many different weapons and power ups and a great soundtrack by David Whittaker. However Piko Interactive have ported the game from the Atari ST version over to the Atari Jaguar, while keeping the Amiga version music intact.

Classed as a rare game on the Amiga, Return to Genesis started its life in 1987 as an Atari ST demo, intending to illustrate the performance of an Atari with high speed, horizontal, parallax scrolling using all of 16 colours. It was later turned into a commercial scrolling shooter in 1988 and released on the Amiga as well as the Atari ST and published by Firebird with music by none other than David Whittaker. Yet today we've just been told via @_Z_TEAM that they are remaking the game for the Sega Megadrive and completely from scratch.
