Another retro heads up for you all, as Tom has just let us know through our Indie Retro News inbox, that frodewin has released the new and improved C64 version of the short and enjoyable adventure game of Babylon's Ark; a game which was not only shown at the Vintage Computing Carinthia $16 event, but it was available as a hardware cartridge ("Space Collection", with three other games) for the Commodore 64 available at Bobr Games and Protovision.
This year has been amazing for the Amiga even if it's still just FEB! We've announced new games such as Wolfenstein 3D: Spear of Destiny, Scramble, Souverän Soccer, Wolfenstein 3D, Green Beret(Rush'n Attack) and even CyberPunk Alien City. Well here we are with another great announcement for the Amiga community, as Sunlight Games have told us that the 2nd and last batch of the Special Edition of Gold Rush! for the Amiga has been made available via its retro label, “RetroTainment”!
We've mentioned a number of text entry based adventure games over the years, from games such as Venganza and Spooky Adventure, to Knight Orc and Masquerade. But now another game has appeared which will appeal to gamers who have children, is michomis 1st place winner at Silly Venture 2021 called Troll's Treasure; A game which the creator made with his/her children developed using Atari Basic and compiled for the Atari XL/XE.
Another great news story for you all, as if you followed our previous write up in regards to Attack of the Petscii Robots; A game which is a brand new porting by Vesa Halttunen's of David Murray's Action Adventure. Then you'll be pleased to learn that as of today, you can now buy the digital download release or the full boxed edition which is due late January or early February 2022. As we've just been contacted by XeNoMoRPH, that as from today, you can download the latest game Amstrad CPC release of ART WAR developed by Amstrad Sakis. To coincide with this news, the creator has released a new video showing the gameplay of this simple text adventure game whereby you have to make the correct choices in order to finish the game.
I've always had a fondness for Adventure games from The Secret of Monkey Island, to The Legend of Kyrandia or even the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, there's not an adventure game I would not put aside ( Unless it has too many riddles and puzzles ). Thankfully I'm not the only one who enjoys Adventure games, as thanks to Saberman contacting us just recently, he has told us that Unsuitable Software has made available the Adventure game of Ermentrud for Amiga(OS3/4/Morph), MAC and PC!

Although we informed you some time ago that the Amiga game Athanor 2 - The Legend of the Birdmen was a fabulous looking Adventure game that was programmed in C and is the sequel to the 2015-2016 game 'Athanor' which was also released on the Amstrad CPC, ORIC and yes even the C64. But as a more recent heads up from our good friend Tony Aksnes, he has told us that the game is being sold fast with a limited amount of copies available. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if there was any left going by this article going live.

But a NES version of the game is in development, as well as a brand new port for the Commodore Amiga by Vesa Halttunen. I've always been an Adventure gamer on both my Amiga and PC, and have such fond memories of games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer, Fable, Kings Quest and even the Quest for Glory series. In fact one such game I remember and always recommend as one of the top 10 Adventure games to play is the early 90's game Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness! Coming completely out of the blue and one I think I'll be hooked on this week as an Adventure fan, is Clifftop Games retro-ish point and click adventure of ' Kathy Rain : Director's Cut'; an enhanced version of the award winning game which is available for PC, Mac and Linux. As for the story, which every cool adventure game needs, you play as Kathy Rain, as she tries to come to terms with her own troubled past as she investigates the mysterious death of her recently deceased grandfather!

Then 'Tachyon Dreams', developed by a fan of Sierra games as Cosmic Void for your home PC is just the game for you! This is the first chapter in what the developer hopes will be a series of humorous, text-parser games with EGA graphics that will look and feel very much like the mid/late 80's adventure games by Sierra. Think early Space Quest games. Think AGI.
I know that I hark on about licensed games not being very good, but the truth is that there are some really good licensed games out there. And today, we’re going to review one such game based on a movie I quite like (which is, by itself, based on a novel by Frank Herbert). I’m talking about Dune (based on David Lynch’s movie of the same name). Dune is an adventure/strategy game developed by Cryo Interactive and published by Virgin Games. It was originally released in 1992 for the Commodore Amiga and DOS. It was re-released the following year in CD-ROM format for DOS and the Sega Mega-CD/Sega CD.
I think it's about time we put those homebrew games aside and look towards an Adventure game that may excite those who played that fantastic game 'Black Mirror' or even the classic 'Broken Sword'. As we've recently been informed through our email, that Red Martyr Entertainment's psychological horror point and click adventure game of 'Saint Kotar ' is coming to Epic, GOG and Steam as of October 28th. A game that draws its inspiration from the classics such as Broken Sword, Monkey Island and by the works from horror fiction writers such as H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe.
We've just been contacted through both Facebook and Twitter that as from today through the MSXDev competition as entry number 21, you can download the latest game release of STEP. A sci-fi adventure game developed by Uninteresting, that comes in a grand total of three chapters created with the same engine as MSXdev20’s Jäästä. As quoted by the main website "this game by Uninteresting happens to be quite interesting."

I thought to myself today it's been some time since we had any Zelda style games on Indie Retro News, but thankfully I've come across a game that doesn't just have a Zelda vibe, but it almost looks like a quality commercial release from the golden era of the NES. Welcome to Light From Within; an in development game by Atarath that they claim is a new Zelda-esque adventure that will bring you right back the the 80s.
