Return to Monkey Island - Follow-up to a classic Adventure series will be setting sail today! [Released]

The Secret of Monkey Island developed by Lucasfilm Games (later LucasArts) was originally released in 1990 and created by now industry legends Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, and Dave Grossman. It was a game that has lived on the hearts of many with its fantastic pirate charm, brilliant characters, challenging yet enjoyable puzzles, and a story set in a fictional version of the Caribbean during the age of piracy. Well if you remember that fine game and have been keeping an eye out for the sequel of 'Return to Monkey Island', then as of today you can finally play the game with all its pirate charm! 

Athanor 2 - The Legend Of The Birdmen - A brilliant Amiga game is getting an AGA edition!

Sometime back we informed you that the Amiga game Athanor 2 - The Legend of the Birdmen was not only a fabulous looking Adventure game that was programmed in C and is the sequel to the 8bit 2015-2016 game of 'Athanor', but we also announced the game was released as a gorgeous boxed edition much to the delight of the Amiga community. Well if you missed out on the game and still want to get your hands on it, it might be worth keeping an eye out for the latest AGA edition, which is coming soon to the Amiga 1200 and above!

Well if you remember that fine game, you'll be pleased to know that the upcoming sequel of 'Return to Monkey Island' is not only coming September 19th, but a brand new teaser trailer has also been revealed!

Great news if you loved games such as Deju Vu, Uninvited or even my personal favorite Shadowgate, as we've just been told through our Game Dev : RetroGaming Facebook group, that Teebowah Games has released an early demo of the dark horror themed game of Occult Case Files; A game in which you play as an amateur occult investigator that is investigating a supposed paranormal spot, where people have vanished into thin air and have never been seen again.

Cancelled game 'Warcraft Adventure Lord of the Clans' gets an impressive remaster by DerSilver83

Way back in 2016 we announced much to the surprise of the community, that after 18 years of waiting, the rather rare and cancelled Adventure game ' Warcraft Adventures - Lord of the Clans ' was finally made available for download; a game that was due for release in 1998 with hints of the games announcement in a number of classic sources and magazines. Well if you were able to download it even after a DMCA had been issued by Blizzard. You'll pleased to know that as of just recently, we've been told by a good friend of ours that a remaster project of the games cutscenes has been released as version 1.0

The Curse of Rabenstein - High grade graphical text adventure gets a C64 40th Anniversary (Point and Click) Edition!

If you fancy loading up a bit of horror this weekend, then make sure to check out the latest 40th Anniversary (Point and Click) Edition of The Curse of Rabenstein by Stefan Vogt for the C64. Once they are gone, then that's it!

A game that draws its inspiration from the classics such as Monkey Island  and takes players on an adventure with many twists and turns.

Glory Hunters: A unique Game Boy action-adventure RPG that is aiming for a Kickstarter success!

Don't get me wrong I do love a new game for a retro system such as the Amiga or C64, but when it comes to my chunky handheld the Gameboy, it's really feeling a little left out. Sure we've had Gameboy inspired games and Gameboy ROMS through itch io, but actual fresh cartridges is something of a rarity! Thankfully we have BitmapSoft on call to help, as just recently they have announced through Twitter, that they are hoping to publish the latest Gameboy game of Glory Hunters. A unique Game Boy action-adventure RPG by César Arminio that is aiming for a Kickstarter success within 40days of this article!

A game that has lived on the hearts of many with its fantastic pirate charm, brilliant characters, challenging yet enjoyable puzzles, and a story set in a fictional version of the Caribbean during the age of piracy... Just saying the name "Guybrush Threepwood" would set most Adventure fans into a frenzy. Well for those of you who remember that amazing game and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, will be pleased to know as of today 'Return to Monkey Island' has just been announced for 2022!

Journalist - Another Andromeda C64 preview has been found and recovered

As so many of you are aware by now we love Retro games, especially games that have been lost into the ages and through these modern times have finally been recovered for many of us to enjoy. This is especially true for games such as Microfair Madness and even Daffy Duck And The Great Paint Caper. Thankfully more games are being recovered, as thanks to a heads up from GamesThatWerent, we now know that another Andromeda preview as 'Journalist', has been found and recovered thanks to Thomas Sol Sunhede and Hedning, Zynon and Whisper of Genesis Project.

Golden Seas - A high quality text adventure game from Sunteam for the ZX Spectrum NEXT

Text Based Adventure games are still very popular, especially with the latest games mentioned such as Survival Messenger Adventure, and those included in the Halloween and Treasure Hunt Jam. But now we turn our attention to another text adventure game that's worth a look in, as according to Sunteam, they have released a high quality adventure game for the ZX Spectrum NEXT called 'Golden Seas'; a game that was originally written using Adventuron and converted to the Spectrum Next using DAAD Ready (converter by @uto_dev).

Something slightly different for today's retro heads up instead of all the challenging arcade games we've been featuring over the last couple of weeks. As we've recently found out through a detailed Facebook post from Stefan Bylund, that if you head on over to the github link below, you can download The Level 9 Compilation; an unofficial compilation of all of Level 9 Computing's text adventure and multiple choice games for the ZX Spectrum Next. All in all, there are 19 games; 16 text adventure games and 3 multiple choice games.

Then 'Tachyon Dreams II', developed by a fan of Sierra games as Cosmic Void for your home PC is just the game for you!  This is the second chapter in what the developer says will be a series of humorous, text-parser games with EGA graphics that will look and feel very much like the mid/late 80's adventure games by Sierra. Think early Space Quest games. Think AGI.
