Chroma Grid - 1st place winner at the Sommarhack 2024 party for the Atari ST!

Another heads up and surprisingly it's an Atari ST news story, as thanks to a good friend contacting us earlier today, we have been told that T.O.Y.S has made available their latest puzzle game of Chroma Grid. An Atari STE game which was presented by T.O.Y.S. at the Sommarhack 2024 party, and coming 1st place in the wild demo competition! To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest footage of the game which as ever can be viewed below.

SPACE ZOT - First place winner in the Atari ST STE games competition at the SillyVenture Summer Edition 2023!

Another heads up and surprisingly it's an Atari ST news story, as thanks to Saberman and Tom who were kind enough to contact us this week, that they have told us that Electric Dreams has made available their latest Arcade blaster of SPACE ZOT. An Atari STE game which won first place in the Atari STE games competition at the SillyVenture Summer Edition 2023! To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest footage of the game which as ever can be viewed below.

Metal Slug gets a beta port for the Sega Mega Drive and Atari STE

I can say for sure there's probably not many of you that haven't heard of 'Metal Slug', a game in a series of games that are well known in the community, going back to the days of the Neo Geo system. This game has plenty of humor, while remaining action packed throughout. In fact it was so much fun and still is, that a fan by the name of masteries had developed a Metal Slug port for the Atari STE and a new port for the Sega Mega Drive; an in development action blaster that runs at a rather smooth 50 frames per second with very few slowdowns!

Laserball - A 2014/15 brain-cracking puzzle game for the ATARI ST/STe/Falcon now available on itch io!

Anarcholab has released some great Atari ST/STE and Falcon games, games such as Randominer and RANDOMAZER are just two of the ones we've featured just recently that are worth checking out. Well here we are with another developer feature, as thanks to Saberman contacting us today, he has told us that Anarcholab has made available their 2014/2015 game of Laserball via the itch io website. A brain-cracking puzzle game for the ATARI ST/STe/Falcon of which is also well worth a play!

Randominer - An impressive take on Minesweeper for the Atari ST/STE and Falcon!

I'm sure many of you have heard of MineSweeper; a puzzle game in which players had to clear the board of numbers without coming across deadly exploding bombs, using help from clues about the number of neighbouring mines in each field. But I bet you haven't heard of Randominer, which is the latest Atari ST/STE game to be developed by Anarcholab! Well if you haven't you'll be pleased to know this game is according to the creator, is the ultimate mine seeking experience for ATARI ST/STe and Falcon!

Avoid the obstacles and collect the goodies

FROGS - A C64 4 player homebrew which was released for the Atari STe gets an update!

In 2017 we announced the release of the C64 4 player title ' Frogs '; a game which was developed by Christian Gleinser of Dr. Wuro Industries as a great game in which you play as a little frog that has to jump across from rock to lily pad, while trying not to fall in as the lily pads vanish or not being knocked off by your opponent. Well if you loved the game and have an Atari STe, you'll be pleased to know that as of just recently, the Atari STe version of 'Frogs' by anarcholab! has been updated and is available via itch io.

WordUp! - A work in progress teaser for the Atari ST(E) inspired by the 90's game of Atomix!

The games just keep on coming, as thanks to a heads up yesterday from our good friend Saberman, he has told us that Spagetticoder has released an early work in progress version of 'WordUp!' for the Atari ST(E).  According to the creator, this game is a Puzzle Game inspired by Atomix and is available to download linked below requiring 2MB Ram or more to run. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also done a video of the game itself giving you a taste of the upcoming full version.

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge STe - Retro Racing fans will love this enhanced version on the Atari STe!

For me, Lotus released during the 90's was one of the best racing games on the Amiga, it was so much fun, with great graphics and the ability to race your friend(s) in split screen. It gave a true speed feeling, whizzing past other cars on the road or through tunnels trying to come first place. What's more, it even had weather affects and incredible music. Thankfully for those of you who enjoyed this game and want the pleasure of playing an enhanced version on the Atari, can now do so! As Jonathan Thomas, Jamie Hamshere and Grazey/PHFs has just released "Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge STe".

R0x Zero - A gorgeous Atari ST/STE playable demoscene shmup


It's easy to forget that the Atari ST has a demoscene since it's usually the Amiga that get all the demo attention. but take a look at R0x Zero. A brilliant playable SHMUP built into the usual demo fare of scrolling text and bouncing blitter objects. It's a thing of beauty!

Escape 2042 - Fast paced platformer appears on the Atari STe


Thanks to a heads up by Ataricrypt we've recently learned that the fast paced platformer which was originally released for the Dreamcast, Gameboy, Megadrive and PC, has since been released for the Atari STe by Cedric Bourse / orionsoft.This game is set in a sci-fi futuristic time in which you play as Shun, a computer engineer and member of the Truth Defenders coalition that has been imprisoned in a high security prison to stop you from informing the people against the socialist government and the progressive dictatorship.

Ghouls 'N Ghosts Arcade port on the Atari STE gets new footage and play test!


As we said before in 1988 Capcom released one of the finest Arcade games ever to grace the gaming scene, and that game was the incredible and most frustrating platformer Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which appeared on lots of systems including the Atari ST. And it's the Atari which has again appeared in our news feed, as thanks to a heads up by our friends AtariCrypt, the arcade conversion to the Atari STE as a work in progress by Anima, has not only been made available as a first beta test, but it looks far better than the previous showing!

Daimakaimura - Ghouls 'N Ghosts Arcade port on the Atari STE? It's possible!


In 1988 Capcom released one of the finest Arcade games ever to grace the gaming scene, and that game was the incredible and most frustrating platformers Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which appeared on pretty much every system you could think of...Even the Atari ST. In fact today's mention is in regards to the Atari STE, as currently Anima is working on a more faithful Atari STE port of that classic game, which is being shown off in this very early work in progress glitchy video.

Whitewater Madness - Move over Toobin you've got destructive competition (Atari STe)


I'm pretty sure many of you remember the Arcade game 'Toobin' by Atari Games, a game which featured two player fun in a competitive river race as you bounced off each other avoiding obstacles to get to the finish line. But now imagine a very similar game but this time you're in a powerful ship of some kind travelling through time to collect energy cells while also shooting at deadly hazards such as giant water beasts. Welcome to ' Whitewater Madness ' a game which was under development in 1989 by Scott Williamson and Ed Schneider designed specifically for their new Atari STe computer!

Prince Of Persia - Hit classic is audio and performance enhanced on the Atari STe


From 1989 onwards Brøderbund released the hit classic action platformer game 'Prince of Persia' on a multitude of systems such as the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and MS-DOS. A true brilliance for its time and still worth playing today, featured many platforming levels and high danger which was usually met with falling floors, sword wielding enemies, crashing grates and at worst deadly spikes. This incredible game however has again appeared in our news feeds, but this time thanks to a heads up by AtariCrypt has been audio-enhanced by Peter Putnik for the Atari STe.

Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back both receive Atari STe audio upgrades!


Throughout all these years, right from the very beginning of Indie Retro New's birth, I have always tried to feature as many Dungeon Crawlers as possible, whether it be clones, remakes or even ports. But today's news is a bit of an eye opener, as thanks to a heads up by AtariCrypt one of the most amazing Dungeon Crawlers of all time ' Dungeon Master ' and yes even the sequel ' Chaos Strikes Back ', has received an audio upgrade for the Atari STe!
