A rather unusual bit of news this afternoon, as thanks to a heads up by a good friend of ours, we've been told it might be worth checking out this downloadable and online playable game mash up of Dragowfall. What makes this game worth checking out you ask? Well according to the website, Dragowfall is a mashup of 3 games from the 80's, in the style of Intellivision, all glued together to form a more intense chivalry-themed adventurous experience! To coincide with this news, we've got some gifs from the game, as well as some further information about Shadowfax, Pitfall! and Dragonfire that have been mashed together.

I have always had a soft spot for Super Mario Bros, ever since I first played it as a kid all those years ago in America on the NES. Its one of those timeless games that you never can get tired of. Its super simple to learn and control for new players and the gameplay is also simple but at the same time it can be very challenging. Nebulus - An 8bit classic as a fan-remake for the PICO-8, as well as browser play!
If you have a Pico-8 or wanting to play a rather lovely remake via your browser you might like this news story, as trawling through the itch io page, we've just come across a fan based remake for the Pico-8 called 'Nebulus'. Yes indeed if you remember the 1980's game originally released by Hewson Consultants for systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga, Atari ST, C64 and ZX Spectrum. Will be pleased to know you can play the game as a remake via your browser or through the Pico-8 running at 60fps in the console's undocumented hi-res and hi-color mode thanks to carlc27843: (128x256 resolution with the full 32 color palette, fitting into a single cart (17152+15616 bytes data+lua).

Another late heads up for this evening as we've not only found out about Robocop being remade as an awesome AGA edition for the Amiga, but thanks to another heads up in our Indie Retro News inbox, we've been told the classic game of 'Aztec Challenge' has been reproduced in a browser by Paolo Nicoletti; The very difficult yet highly addictive first level, which was originally released in 1983 for the C64 by Paul Norman!
Simon Dragon - A Double Dragon inspiration playable in your browser
Tuesday just gets better and better as another game has hit our news feeds and it's none other than Double Dragon, or shall I say 'Simon Dragon' by Claudio Cimini. First released way back in the 80's by Taito Corporation, Double Dragon was a fantastic beat 'em up game that featured high grade fighting two player fun on many different systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and C64. But now you too can experience what made Double Dragon so enjoyable, as an unofficial inspiration starring Simone Bonino, an italian famous bodyguard has been released playable in your browser.
Pepper Pengui - An online playable game with inspirations to Pengo (Browser Based/Windows)
Looking through the itch.io website for new retro styled games to play on your home computer or via an internet browser at work :p, we've just come across a new game called 'Pepper Pengui' developed by All-x Dev and Dotto Meister. This game from the look of the video below or linked here, is an enjoyable new arcade game which is inspired by other games such Pengo and those wonderful Japanese early 80s coin ops.
GBJAM 8 - Lots of great games submitted to the latest GameBoy Jam!
What a great early part of the week for retro games, as during the latest GBJAM 8, over 200 games were submitted for voting to be a successful entry in the GameBoy themed Jam. A jam in which gamers from around the world were given the opportunity to create any game they wish, as long as it looked like a Game Boy game. In fact it was such a great competition that we even had the pleasure of playing the rather cool game of 'GBNOID' ; a game inspired by the classic Cybernoid by Raffaele Cecco!
Crystal Caverns 2 - A charming little PC platformer from Ben James
If you want to play a new platformer that not only looks charming, but has plenty of enemies and challenges to be had, then you might be keen to play this game that was released this week called ' Crystal Caverns 2 ' developed by Ben James; a Windows game which is downloadable and playable online, and is currently at a work in progress state but still worth playing as it is a highly enjoyable little platformer.
Internet Archive adds over 2,500 Dos games to play in your Browser!
Back in November of 2014 we mentioned some of the best websites to play classic retro systems online. Systems such as the CPC, NES, MSX and loads more were completely playable directly through your browser. One such site called "The Archive" had a massive game list from the 1970's through to the 1990's, all emulated in JSMAME containing hundreds of games ranging through many different genres and styles.
Demon Burst - Recommended retro-styled platformer gets a new build!
We love trawling through the retro side of the itch.io site, as sometimes we come across a game we can't put down. Sure enough that has happened today, as being drawn in by the colourful main game screen, we've come across a game called ' Demon Burst '. This game with an improved build released recently, is an arcade action game made for "A Game by its Cover 2019" jam, inspired by games such as Kid Icarus, Castlevania and Ghosts 'n Goblins.
Escape From Dinosaur Island DX - Browser based ZX Spectrum styled Adventure!
Putting aside the Amiga and C64 games, it's time we look towards the ZX Spectrum for our retro goodness, as we've been informed by Chris that 'Escape From Dinosaur Island DX ' is now available to play in your browser. This game which is also coming to a ZX Spectrum near you very soon, is a typing text based adventure game as a deluxe edition of "Escape from Dinosaur Island" by Richard Pettigrew.
Altered Beast - A classic Arcade beat em up, given the fan treatment
If you are a retro gamer, chances are you would've heard or atleast played the 1988 classic Arcade game of Altered Beast by Sega which appeared on multiple systems including the Sega Mega Drive. Well if you do remember it, you'll be interested to know LucasCCBJogos has released an early fan game of that classic title but instead will be playable via your browser linked through the gamejolt website.
FUZ - PICO-8 Puzzle Platformer demake of FEZ (Playable Online)
FEZ which is a Puzzle Platformer, was released way back in 2012-2013 on both Xbox 360 and Windows Steam as a game developed by Polytron Corporation in which featured a rather unusual rotating design as your character can explore a 3D world in certain 2D perspectives. This game which gathered favourable reviews has made an appearance this week in our inbox, but instead of being the original we remember, is instead a new Pico-8 Demake that has been developed and released by Henry Stadolnik.
1942 - Browser based C64 shoot em up inspired classic
In 1984 a great shoot em up was released for the Arcade by Capcom and that game was 1942. A game in which you had to shoot down enemy planes, avoid being shot out of the sky and performed awesome rolls while collecting power ups. It was an awesome game and still is today, but the news of right now is, Bardon Boura has released a rather niftty little browser based inspired version of that Arcade/C64 classic.
Super Spectrum World - Play through lots of classic Spectrum games as Miner Willy! (Jet Set Willy)
Now here's a game I think most of our readers would have played or heard of throughout the years, is Jet Set Willy. A platform game originally written by Matthew Smith and published by Software Projects for many home computers such as the ZX Spectrum in 1984. It star'd none other than Miner Willy who is tasked by the housekeeper Maria with the cleaning up of items left around the house after a big party. So why are we mentioning that classic game? Well today's news is something special, as thanks to a heads up via our twitter page, we have come across a rather interesting online game(s) called 'Super Spectrum World' by Stephen Smith!
