Barbarian Plus - Head chopping classic enhanced gets an early Amiga preview
Barbarian....One of my favourite games since I discovered games. I wasn't introduced to it like most heterosexual males my age, via their hormones and a titillating poster. Instead, it was one of the loose tapes that came with my second hand ZX Spectrum, and it got played to absolute death.

Barbarian+ - A feature update for this upcoming Amiga game overhaul
Barbarian is a one-on-one fighter game whereby you have to take down your opponent using a variety of moves, of which the majority involve your sword. You can spin it around and wait for someone to walk into it, an over-the-head chop is also available along with a side swipe as many of the preferred ways to kill in this late 1980's game. But even though it is rated as a great game, there's a team of people out there who have decided to give it a much needed overhaul based on the Amiga version not providing any improvements over the C64 version, except sound and a higher screen resolution (Colin's post)

Barbarian+ - Is an enhanced version of a classic coming to the Amiga?
Barbarian(Death Sword), was first released in 1989 for the C64 and later ported to other systems such as the Acorn, Amiga, Amstrad, Atari, Apple II, BBC Micro, MS-DOS and even the ZX Spectrum. It was a cool game indeed that featured a one to two player mode as a Barbarian faced each other off in deadly combat, with even a deadly ability to be able to slice at each other to the death, which usually ended up with a head being chopped clean off and kicked to one side. It is was a game that has lived on through a generation and after a number of fan ports that have appeared in the past, it looks as if the Amiga is going to get its very own enhanced version called ' Barbarian+ '.
Barbarian - Head chopping classic is coming to the Sega Dreamcast
Barbarian or as it was called in the United States, Death Sword, was first released in 1989 for the C64 and later ported to other systems including the Acorn, Amiga, Amstrad, Atari, Apple II, BBC Micro, MS-DOS and ZX Spectrum. It was a fine game indeed that featured a one to two player mode as each Barbarian faced each other off in deadly combat. What set this game apart from other combative titles was the ability to slice at each other to the death, which usually ended up with a head being chopped clean off and kicked to one side. It is was a game that has lived on through a generation and now it's the turn of the Sega Dreamcast to get involved as it is getting its very own port!
Barbarian CPC - Head chopping classic playable on the PC Engine
Barbarian was first released in 1989 for the C64 and later ported to other systems including the Acorn, Amiga, Amstrad, Atari, Apple II, BBC Micro, MS-DOS and ZX Spectrum. It was a fine game indeed that featured a one to two player mode as each Barbarian faced each other off in deadly combat, that usually ended up with a head being chopped off and kicked to one side. Barbarian - A head chopping review on the ZX Spectrum
As it's Christmas, what better to celebrate the festivities by looking at a game where the main character looks like Jesus? Albeit with rather large sword in hand rather than that bread he made once. Not only is the Jesus reference valid, but also what better way to relate to Christmas than with a bit of violence? There's always a war film on at Christmas, a Bond film or failing that, there's always a bit of a scuffle with family members after one too many sherries. Or is that just my house?
Amstrad CPC V's GX4000 - Full Retro Comparison Guide from Novabug!
Only 26 official cartridge games were produced for the Amstrad GX4000 console, and even 1 of those is debatable in its very existence. It's often common to hear the criticism that the games were simply shovel-ware taken from the CPC, but this is a half truth. Only 15 games were tape/disk ports, and not all of these were identical as some would have you believe. In this series of 5 parts, I take a side by side look at these titles, and discover the differences, the similarities and show it all on screen to see for yourself. The GX4000 did have poor support, deisgn mistakes and some lazy porting, but here I set out to prove it's not all doom and gloom for the infamous British console flop.
CIMMERiAN - Head chopping Barbarian port with jaw dropping SMS detail
I have decided to save the best till last, and I believe with this new Sega Master System port demo, I think you'll agree the detail is just mind blowing. Developed by Ichigobankai for the SMSPower! competition 2016, ' CIMMERiAN ' is a high graphical quality "pseudo" port of the famous Barbarian, which appeared on many different systems including the Amiga. If you don't remember the game, you control a Barbarian in a single screen combat scenario and must use sword chopping movements to put your opponent to the ground, with or without his head.
Barbarian - ZX Spectrum head chopping classic gets a Sega Megadrive port
This has been one of the best weeks of the last few months for the retro scene so far, as we've had so many games to see either for systems such as the C64 or ZX Spectrum, we've just been blown away. Now it's just got even better as F.L has now announced the release of the 1987 ZX Spectrum head chopping classic 'Barbarian' for the Sega Megadrive! The same developer behind the open source clones of the Amstrad CPC, C64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST and many others, has now released this version as a rom file which works on a real sega genesis/megadrive, everdrive, and emulators!
