ZZAP! Live 2023 is coming 12th August, Tickets now available!

Amiga owners and Commodore owners alike, have we got the event for you! As Fusion Retro Events which is a part of Fusion Retro Books, will be celebrating all that is retro in their own special way! As in the words of the announced event organizers, "South West Amiga Group and Retro Computer Museum. The ZZAP! Live event will cover each an every Commodore system including the Amiga family. The event will be held on the 12th August at The Holiday Inn, Kenilworth, CV8 1ED.". 

Fusion Toys Summer Special Annual smashes Kickstarter goal

Chris Wilkins of Fusion Retro Books is certainly no stranger to these parts, especially as every Kickstarter we have featured that he has launched such as Zzap! 64 Annual 2021 and Crash Annual 2019 has smashed the Kickstarter goal and has been a glorious throwback for us nostalgic lot. Thankfully the goodness keeps on coming, as just recently not only did he launch a new Kickstarter for the Fusion Toys Summer Special Annual, but yet again it's a resounding success with many days still to go.

Fusion Dizzy - A special 52 page issue of Fusion, devoted to Dizzy!


In June of this year we gave you the heads up regarding a great Dizzy gaming magazine called ' Fusion Dizzy ' which is a spin off from the Fusion issues usually featuring not just gaming news but also Handhelds and even Table Tops. Well it is looks as if Fusion Gaming Mag are true to their word, as thanks to a heads up from the project lead of Chris Wilkins, he has announced you can now pre-order the special 52 page issue of Fusion which is devoted to Dizzy called 'Fusion Dizzy'.

Crash Annual 2021 - Issue 101 - The latest upcoming Crash Annual smashes Kickstarter goal


Chris Wilkins has certainly been busy throughout the lifetime of Indie Retro News, launching successful Kickstarters such as The Story of the Commodore 64 in Pixels, The Story of the Oliver Twins, The Story of the ZX Spectrum in Pixels and of course multiple annuals having a pride of place on a shelf of a fellow retro gamer. But now unlike the previous write ups we've done giving you an early heads up, this time we are pleased to announce that the upcoming Crash Annual 2021 - Issue 101, has smashed its Kickstarter goal reaching an incredible £30,167 and still over 20 days to go!

In 2018 we gave you the heads up regarding a great gaming magazine called ' Fusion ' which is jam packed full of gaming news and hardware features that is highly recommended in anyones gaming collection. Well if you've been reading the latest Fusion magazines and have ever grown up with an Amstrad CPC, you'll be delighted to learn that Chris Wilkins has launched the Fusion CPC issue; A Special issue of Fusion devoted just to the Amstrad CPC filling 52 pages in length and priced at just £1 for a PDF!

Jetman - The complete published works all in one book!


When you hear the name Chris Wilkins of Fusion Retro Books, you can't help but think of great reading material such as The story of the Oliver Twins, The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels, Fusion, ZZap! and even the Great Crash Annual to name but many he's pushed through a successful Kickstarter. But now yet again he's hoping for another golden success, as through an early update in our msg box, he has told us a Kickstarter has been launched for the Jetman - The complete published works all in one book!

The Lord of Dragonspire - Previously announced C64 RPG in final testing


Great news if you were a specific backer of the Zzap64 2020 annual kickstarter or a follower of the psytronik website, as we were recently told through Facebook that Icon64 will be bringing the RPG game of ' The Lord of Dragonspire ' to the C64 at some point soon. This game of which we have featured before, is being developed by Stuart Collier, Trevor Storey and Jason Page, and as of this re-teased video, the game is now in the final stage of testing.

Zzap! 64 Annual 2020 a Kickstarter success, also new The Lord of Dragonspire footage!


Fabulous news if you've supported the latest Zzap! 64 Annual 2020 Kickstarter as not only is it a kickstarter success, but we've also been told one of the perks as The Lord of Dragonspire, has also received new footage as a short glimpse of this upcoming game. Yes indeed if you were one of the backers, you'll be pleased to know the Kickstarter has now raised £23,387 pledged of a £22,500 goal, and the upcoming game will be a part of the zzap64 2020 annual kickstarter as both tape and cart, with a later release by www.psytronik.net in tape and disk.

It wasn't long ago now that we were banging on about Zzap! 64 Annual 2019 ; a glorious book of goodness from Chris Wilkins as a revival of the classic Zzap magazine, wrapped up in the guise of an awesome looking hardback. Well this didn't surprise us at all, as earlier today we found out Chris Wilkins, who was behind other successful Kickstarters such as the Crash Annual 2019, ZZap! 64 Annual 2019 and Mystery World Dizzy, has once again smashed through another Kickstarter goal! Yes indeed after raising an incredible £20,780 thanks to backers, the latest Kickstarter for Panic! Dizzy; A 'new' old NES game by The Oliver Twins that has been lost and found in The Oliver Twins attic, is now a massive success.

Throughout my childhood and into my adult life I've always had a fondness for that little adventuring egg called Dizzy, especially when he was first loaded up on to my Amstrad and then onwards to the Amiga and all the fan games that came thereafter. He brought into my life joy and wonder as thanks to the creators the Oliver Twins it was the only fairy tail that really mattered to me the most, ah the good ol' Yolkfolk! So if like me you were also a fan, you'll be pleased to know Chris Wilkins has launched a NES Kickstarter for Panic! Dizzy; A 'new' old NES game by The Oliver Twins that has been lost and found in The Oliver Twins attic!

Panic! Dizzy - A new Kickstarter for a 'new' old Dizzy NES game is coming!


I've always had a soft spot for that lovable character Dizzy; A character by the Oliver Twins that takes us back to the golden years of the Amstrad, C64 and even the ZX Spectrum. To be honest it's why everytime there's a new Dizzy fan game being developed or a lost Dizzy game found, I've always got to give it the mention. So why am I talking about another Dizzy game you might ask? Well if you can wait till Friday, Chris Wilkins will be launching the Panic! Dizzy Kickstarter ; another original Dizzy game that has been lost and found in the The Oliver Twins attic!

Fusion Issue 3 - The third issue to a great gaming mag is available now


This year we gave you the heads up regarding a great gaming magazine called ' Fusion ' which is jam packed full of gaming news and hardware features that is highly recommended in anyones gaming collection. Well you'll be pleased to know after our previous features of issue 1 and 2, Chris Wilkins of Fusion Retro Books has announced Issue 3 has not only arrived in many peoples homes, but it is also available to buy via his website.

Crash Annual 2019 - Issue 100 Kickstarter is a BIG retro success!


It wasn't long ago now that we told you of Chris Wilkins newest Kickstarter for the Crash Annual 2019 - Issue 100; a campaign for an Annual full of game reviews, techy bits and even an Adventure trail with another great ZX Speccy cover by Oliver Frey. Well we are pleased to tell you not only is this Kickstarter a success, but it has smashed its goal of £20,000 and reached £27,020 through the first of many awesome stretch goals and there's still 25 days to go.

Starquake - Amiga port gets the first packaging mock up


In 2016 we were the first to announce another of Chris Wilkins Kickstarters regarding The story of the Commodore Amiga in pixels, which as always was a resounding success hitting a very respectable £60,890 goal. However this article isn't so much about the book, but one of the perks as at the time it was the first proper hints that the Atari ST version of Starquake was going to be ported over to the Amiga.

ZZap! 64 Annual 2019 smashes Kickstarter goal and keeps climbing!


Well I didn't expect this to happen so quickly especially as it was launched at the correct time of 8am UK time this morning. But as of this afternoon Fusion Retro Books the 'ZZap! 64 Annual 2019' has smashed through its Kickstarter goal of £20,000 and still ever climbing! Yes indeed glorious news for Chris Wilkins (review editor), Roger Kean (managing editor ), Oliver Frey (art editor) and Stuart Williams (adventure editor) and many other contributing members, because as of September 2018 you'll have this awesome Annual in your hands and see all the hardwork they've put into it!

Zzap's back - Zzap! 64 Annual 2019 announced!


Remember that feeling you had when you were waiting for your favourite computer magazine to come out? We've got that feeling again right now, thanks to Chris Wilkins (The Story of Commodore 64 in Pixels) who has announced that he hopes to bring back Zzap! 64 for a very special annual edition. Although it's early days, Jaz Rignall has confirmed his involvement and we've got our fingers crossed that Gary Penn, and many more of our favourite Zzap writers will be able to help make this project happen.
