Devolution - A real-time strategy game for the C64 and MS-DOS by Windigo Productions

Something slightly different for your evening entertainment, as we have recently been contacted through Facebook, to tell you that the same creator of the awesome Commodore 64 game of Deathflood Dungeon of Doom, has released the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS game of 'Devolution' via the itch io page and main website linked below. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video of this rather unique strategy game by Windigo Productions!

Soul Crystal - A very atmospheric Commodore 64 game from 1992 is now fully translated!

For those of you who love playing text based graphical adventures, then we have just found out through the CSdb database, that the classic 1992 game of 'Soul Crystal' by Avantgardistic Arts, has now been fully translated by CSixx, and released by well known sceners Onslaught for the Commodore 64! A game that has very positive feedback such as "Superb game, played it for hours back then. Graphics and music are great, and I really like the game's atmosphere".

Ewe Woz 'Ere DX - A cool action packed C64 game by DESIGN/Chaos gets a new 1.3 update!

If you're looking for more great news to get you through the week, then you've come to the right place! As trawling through the itch.io website, we've just found out that the previously featured action packed Commodore 64 game of 'Ewe Woz 'Ere DX' by Design/Chaos, has recently been updated to version 1.3. A game in which playing as Baaary: Mutton Command, you must defend the fields from an invasion of Traazkists.

Penguin Tower - An enjoyable Bomberman clone for the C64 has been recovered and released!

We've been flooded with awesome news lately, from Super Bagman for the Commodore Amiga, to the overhauled Kung Fu Master on the Amstrad and Stunt Car Racer for the Apple II. Well we are going over to the C64 for some gaming news, as thanks to Saberman contacting us recently, he has told us that the 1994 game of 'Penguin Tower' has been recovered and released. A game that was in development by Jani Hirvo, and thought lost for all time when Jon Wells tried to make an arrangement with the coder to distribute the game in the UK and sell across Europe back in the 90's.

Tower of Evil - A 1980's top down action game arrives on the Commodore 64

Another Commodore 64 port to grace our home computer screens and mentioned by Excess, is the Commodore 16, Plus/4, ZX Spectrum and VIC 20 game of Tower of Evil. A top down action game which was first released from 1984 to 1985 and published by Creative Sparks. A game in which you play the role of Andros who was banished years ago by King Salimos and can only return when he rescues the kidnapped Princess Diana and finds the King's lost treasure taken by an evil Necromancer!

Rocky & Co Xmas - A very festive C64 demo from ICON64 via Psytronik Software!

With Christmas being just over a month away you'd expect to see lots of Christmas themed games appearing on Indie Retro News in the lead up to the 25th. Well that's certainly happening this week, as the second title to be mentioned on our site is a Christmas themed demo of ROCKY & CO Xmas: A new festive demo for ICON64's high quality platform puzzler which we had the pleasure of featuring last month. To coincide with this news Saberman has done a new video showing the demo being played.

Briley Witch Chronicles 2 - Sarah Jane Avory's hit Commodore 64 game is getting a sequel!

This is incredible news if you have a Commodore 64, as thanks to a heads up through Twitter, we just found out that one of the best homebrew developers of Sarah Jane Avory, has announced that she is working on Briley Witch Chronicles 2 for the Commodore 64! The sequel to a hit game which will not only be a fabulous Japanese styled RPG, but it will feature plenty of retro goodness that is sure to whet your appetite. To coincide with this news, Sarah has provided the first teaser trailer for the game, which can be viewed below.

Timeslip - A 1985/86 game by Jon Williams arrives on the Commodore 64

While the website has been flooded with lots of game news, I thought it best to mention that Jon Williams classic game of 'Timeslip', has been released for the Commodore 64. A game which was originally released way back in the 1980's for the Atari 8bit, C16 and Plus/4 via Byte Back. To coincide with this news that has been sent to us by saberman, you can check out the footage of the Commodore 64 version, and see if it's as good as it was back in the day!

Burger Time - An Arcade like conversion for the C64 by Arlasoft [UPDATE]

Some more great retro gaming news for you all, as we've just been given the heads up through our Facebook group, that Alarsoft who was behind great conversions and new games such as Galaxian, Hyper Harvest, and Galaga, has now turned his attention to the 1982 game of Burger Time. A new C64 conversion which was originally released back in the day for the Intellivision, Apple II, Atari 2600, TI-99/4A, Commodore 64, ColecoVision and many others. To coincide with this news, you can see the latest footage of Burger Time being played by Saberman.

Boulder Dash Junior 8 1/2 Halloween Edition - A Boulder Dash C64 game for all the other kids out there

The news continues for the C64 as we've just been told through our inbox, that Raiders of the Lost Empire have now released a new version of First Star Software's 1984 classic game Boulder Dash called 'Boulder Dash Junior 8 1/2 Halloween Edition'.  Yes indeed from the same team who brought you the challenging Boulder Dash Junior IV, comes a version of Boulder Dash that apparently was developed with the idea of creating a game idea by a seven year old boy that will make you smile! If that doesn't make much sense, read the post by the creator and find out more.

Vampire Vengeance - A great game has been released for the Commodore 64 by PATAGONIA

It's time for the Commodore 64 community to get an early morning retro gaming heads up, as earlier today we were informed by our good friend and Youtubber Saberman, that PATAGONIA has released a new game for the Commodore 64 called 'Vampire Vengeance'; A high quality C64 game that was not only presented at the Flashparty 2023, but from those that have played it have said 'Very good game' and 'Awesome game highly recommended for our retro computers'. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also provided a video showing the game in action.

Darkland 2 - Another Halloween game makes an appearance on the C64

As Halloween is nearly here and those dark nights are drawing in, you'd expect lots of creepy horror games to come out to really make the day that little bit more special. Well one such team has released their scary game for Halloween, and it's Psytronik's latest release of Darkland 2; A horror game in which you must survive this unholy night by defeating monsters and their evil offspring that lurk in the shadows. To coincide with this new release from Psytronik, Saberman has done a video showing the game being played.

EVIL DUNGEON II - The sequel to a great RPG-based Fantasy Adventure for the C64 by RetroArts

If you're looking to play a new RPG full of monsters, dark dungeons and loot on your Commodore 64, then make sure to check out the latest release of EVIL DUNGEON II: The sequel to a great RPG-based Fantasy Adventure for the C64. A game which was also released by RetroArts in February of this year. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video of the game as he battles Orcs, Skeletons and other nasties throughout the dungeon of evil!

Laserscape- Another addictive puzzler for the C64 by Vector5 Games

Although I'm not usually a fan of puzzle games, even if I do feature them on occasion. We have just found out from a good friend of ours through Facebook, that if you're looking for an enjoyable yet challenging arcade puzzler for your Commodore 64, then you really should check out Vector5 Games latest title called 'Laserscape'; a new game in which you need to colour all the floor tiles in each of the many levels while avoiding a deadly laser.

The Holy Cube - A rather unusual puzzler gets a Commodore 64 release

Thanks to another heads up from a good friend of ours , we've been told that if you're looking for something different to play on your C64, then make sure to check out la1n's latest game release of 'The Holy Cube'; A game in which you need to grab all the circular colours to move on to the next level! In light of this news, considering it's a bit on the slow side this week, Saberman has done a video of the game being played.

Hell Beneath - Welcome to another Commodore 64 game from Haplo!

There's another Commodore 64 game that has made an appearance and well worth a mention, and it's the recent release of Haplo's latest creation of 'Hell Beneath': a top-down action title in which the creator describes as a "coffee-break" game and not meant to be taken too seriously! To coincide with this news, although Saberman has done a video of the game in action, there's many other great games we'd also recommend checking out by Haplo such as Caim, Tenebra and our personal favourite Ooze.

Rocky & Co - Another high quality release from ICON64 via Psytronik Software

While many of you are still deeply engrossed in the latest game of SNK vs CAPCOM by Jon Eggelton and Gianluca Alberico, there's another game that's well worth a download, and it's ICON64's latest Commodore 64 release of 'Rocky & Co': A high quality platform puzzler which has gameplay spread throughout 12 beautifully designed levels by Stuart Collier, Trevor Storey and Saul Cross! To coincide with this news, there's some new animated screenshots to look at and a video coming soon from Saberman.

TheHolyCube - A rather unusual puzzler is playable as a C64 preview by la1n

Giana Power Edition 2023 - The Great Giana Sisters for the C64 gets 16 new levels!

We've certainly heard a lot about that famous platformer the Great Giana Sisters from 1987, especially as it came back to the Amiga as a Giana Special Edition by Reimagine Games and then of course the Great Giana-Sisters Construction-Set, whereby you can create your own levels. But if you're looking for more Giana Sister retro gaming goodness, then make sure to check out the 'Giana Power Edition 2023' for the Commodore 64 : A new(ish) version of the game that features 16 new levels that were created with the construction set!

Escape Room - An exciting maze-adventure game for the Commodore 64

Even though it's getting really late and I'm almost falling asleep at the keyboard (old age? :p), I thought it best to give a shout out to this game that was mentioned to us many times through Twitch, and it's the exciting maze-adventure game of "Escape Room": A Commodore 64 game by fig-labs. A game in which the player will have certain amount of time to solve the maze in the total darkness using torch light only! To coincide with this news, Saberman has included a video and there's a more in-depth write up provided by the developer as well.
