Double Ball - A Public Domain game from 1992 has been preserved by the Polish Amiga Floppy Preservation Group

If you remember those great classics such as Arkanoid or even Breakout you might be in for a treat! As we've recently been contacted by Saberman, that the Polish Amiga Floppy Preservation Group has preserved and provided the Arkanoid clone of 'Double Ball': A Public Domain game that was originally developed by Blue Data, coded by Andrzej Radecki (Mr. Gary / Blue Data), and first appeared via the public domain archive in 1992. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also provided some gameplay footage! Although do be aware the music is far from enjoyable ;)

Galaga - An Arcade classic as a new Commodore Amiga conversion by JOTD and team!

Remember when we said that a possible 1:1 Arcade conversion of Galaga was coming to the Commodore Amiga thanks to the hard work of JOTD and team? Well if you've been following all of our previous articles on Indie Retro News, then you'll be pleased to know that as of today you can download the final version which is feature complete! A game that was originally developed and published by Namco Japan and by Midway in North America in 1981.

Droid Special Edition - A 1990's run n gun ST platformer is being converted to the Amiga

We always try to keep you up to date with the best in Amiga news, but boy do we have a surprise for you. As we have recently been informed through the EAB forums, that the 1990's coverdisk game of 'Droid' for the Atari ST, is being converted over to the Commodore Amiga by junosix: A decent run-and-gun style platformer with Metroid-ish elements! To coincide with this news, we've got some information about the game, as well as a new gameplay video of the downloadable beta version.

King and Balloon - A 1:1 arcade port for the Commodore Amiga 500 gets a new beta v.094!

I thought it would be best to give another shout out for this addictive yet simplistic little game called 'King and Balloon' by RMJ & JoeJoe. A 1:1 arcade port of Namco's 1980 game for the Commodore Amiga, which was written in 68k assembler and based on the original Z80 code! To coincide with this late hour news story, Saberman has recently done a gameplay video of the current build of the game which is at version v0.94 Beta.

Dr.Dangerous - Only a playable test version, but it looks pretty decent so far! (Amiga)

A late hour Commodore Amiga news story has just appeared, as we've recently found out through through Facebook, that HooGames2017 has made available a playable test version of his in development Amiga game 'Dr.Dangerous'. A game that has already gained positive feedback such as "Wow! From the first few seconds, you can see that it will be a standout title, character and style in abundance" and "Great character animation and very nice graphics". To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video of the game below.

Grind - An epic first person shooter for Amiga 500 gets another playable tease!

If you're looking for more gaming news on this upcoming first person shooter of 'Grind' for the Commodore Amiga 500 and above. Then we have just been informed through the EAB forums by Tsak and our good friend Saberman. That not only has the first ever Grind PvP binary been released, but according to the patreon announcement. It also includes a major rework of the old serial-cable PvP functionality, packed with brand new features and options, plus 2 new Arenas to play! To coincide with this news, we've got some footage of this multiplayer experience below.

METRO SIEGE - A technical preview lets you play some of the levels that are in development for the Amiga (1MB)!

What an incredible amount of Amiga news we've had this month, from the in-development game of Galaga, to the latest releases of Ninja Carnage, and our personal favourite Shift. Well here we are with another Amiga news story, as we've just been told through Facebook, that BitbeamCannon, Enable Software and JOHN TSAKIRIS, has made available 3 playable levels, with the choice of two characters via the first technical preview of 'Metro Siege'. A mind blowing new Amiga 500 brawler that's coming to an Amiga near you in the near future.

Soltys - A DOS Polish point and click adventure game is sill coming to the Amiga (AGA)

Another interesting news story for all of our Amiga readers , as we've recently found out through Saberman, that Paweł Tukatsch together with Retronics, is still working on bringing the Polish point and click adventure game of 'Sołtys' over to the Commodore Amiga 1200. A game which was originally released by LK Avalon for MS-DOS on May 23, 1995. To coincide with this news, while we don't know when it will be released, Saberman has at least provided some early footage below.

Chopper Duel - A DOS game from 1993 gets an Amiga 1.1 update by izero79

Great news if you're looking for something different to play this evening, as thanks to the creator announcing it via itch io and via our good friend Saberman, we've been told that izero79 has released an update for the DOS to Commodore Amiga port of Chopper Duel; A game that was originally released for DOS way back in 1993 by Addict. To coincide with this news, Saberman as per usual has done a short video showing the game in action.

Ninja Carnage - A great adventure game first released on the Amstrad, C64 and ZX Spectrum is now available for the Amiga

Well this came as a complete surprise to us, as trawling through the EAB forums, we have just found out that an awesome looking game has been released for the Commodore Amiga OCS called 'Ninja Carnage'. This game available to download for free via the pouet.net website, and also available for the Amstrad CPC(2020) and Commodore 64(2021), is a large adventure game in which you must help a Ninja kill the Yakuza boss through dangerous locations such as a temple through supernatural situations.

Shift - An 8bit monochrome game appears on the Commodore Amiga via Haplo!

There's another Commodore Amiga game news story that's well worth a mention, as we've recently been trawling the itch io website, and have found out that Haplo, who is behind games such as Hell Beneath, Tenebra and the Amiga port of Ooze: The Escape, has released the mind bending puzzler of 'Shift' for the Commodore Amiga. A game that was released earlier this year for the Atari 8bit and Commodore 64! To coincide with this news, we've got some more information about the game, as well as a screenshot and an upcoming video from Saberman.

The Lost Vikings 2 Amiga - 1997 SNES game by Interplay could be coming to the Amiga (AGA)

Even more Amiga news for you all, as we've recently come across a post by Earok via Facebook, that the SNES version of the game 'The Lost Vikings 2' published by Interplay Productions, could be coming to the Commodore Amiga AGA using the Scorpion Engine. Although when I asked him if this was 100% certified he said, "Started experimenting with Lost Vikings 2 SNES assets with the view to port to AGA Amiga" and "I can't 100% verify, but the plan is to release something with it eventually (if not the whole game, at least the first few levels as a "demo")". So yes there's a chance it may never come to be, but there's still hope!

A Street Fighter project by msmalik681 gets another Amiga update tease - Release SOON

The Scorpion Engine is the best development tool for the Amiga, as not only can you create some pretty decent looking games, but unlike other software creation tools such as BackBone or RedPill they don't run at a snails pace on anything but a power house of an Amiga. Thankfully one such creator shows what could be possible, is msmalik681's previewed Street Fighter; a game which originally appeared on the Arcades, and was then ported to pretty much every system you could think of, including such systems as the Amiga (poorly), Atari St and even the ZX Spectrum.

ECLIPTIC - A new Commodore Amiga game tease update from bwldrbast!

Galaga(beta) by JOTD wasn't the only game to grace our Commodore Amiga screens today, as I've been informed via our good friend Saber, that bwldrbst has released an updated demo of the work in progress turn based tactical combat and role playing game of 'ECLIPTIC'. A game in which you play as a number of robots that must repair, clear out aliens, and deal with security systems on the space ship ECLIPTIC. To coincide with this news, we've also got some new footage of the game also provided by Saberman.

Galaga - An Arcade classic as an upcoming Commodore Amiga conversion by JOTD

Skinny Marley - A new Amiga game based on the mechanics of the famous Sokoban

With a double heads up from two good friends of ours, both Saberman(YT) and Amiga Bill(Twitch Streamer), we've been told if you like the classic 1980's game of Sokoban. Then Toolzzi has you covered with the new Commodore Amiga game of 'Skinny Marley'. A game which is not only based on the mechanics of the famous Sokoban, but according to the developer, is a tribute to his little adventurous doggy who passed away in 2021 due to a medical error. To coincide with this news, here's the latest footage of the game viewable below.

Dune II: The Building of A Remaster - Development of a new Amiga AGA and OCS version by Westwood's Robert Koon!

I'm sure many of you remember Dune II, one of the greatest RTS games of our time, an all time classic developed by one of the greatest developers Westwood, which was released for the Amiga, MS-DOS and a later release on the Sega Megadrive in 93. Well if you do remember it ( more specifically the Amiga version ), then at some point Robert Koon, who was part of the original Dune 2 team at Westwood, will be releasing a new Amiga AGA and OCS remaster. A new version of the game which is sure to excite many in the Amiga community.

Galaga - Arcade classic is still coming to the Commodore Amiga as a conversion by JOTD

Remember when we posted about the 1981 Arcade classic of ' Galaga ' was coming to the Atari XL/XE and Atari 5200 as a high quality Arcade port by Gimmee99? Well you'll be happy to learn that if you have a Commodore Amiga however, this game originally developed and published by Namco Japan and by Midway in North America in 1981, is also coming to the Amiga thanks to the hard work of JOTD! As in his words for the latest video, "Galaga is almost playable, with gfx & game glitches: note: this is much smoother because of emulation. Final result needs optimizing and will probably run at 25Hz"

AmiGameJam 2024 launches with " The Sequel That Never Was "

Something slightly different for today's retro heads up, as we've recently been contacted through Facebook, that if you head on over to the link below, you can check out the latest AmiGameJam 2024. A new Amiga Game Jam open from May 31st 2024 at 4:00 PM to November 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM with the main theme of "The Sequel That Never Was". A brand new creation contest for developers from around the world to develop some new games for Classic OCS/AGA" and Next-Gen Amigas (Aros, MorphOS, OS4 and Vampire.

Ami-H.E.R.O - An Amiga game inspired by Activision's 8bit game H.E.R.O gets a much needed update

Ask anyone about H.E.R.O, and I'm sure many would share their memories about this great game. A game which was released way back in the 1980's for the Atari 800/2600, 7800, ColecoVision, C64, C128 and ZX Spectrum! Well if you do remember it and would like to play it on your Amiga, then make sure to check out Paweł TUKINEM Tukatsch, Sergiusz SELUR Lurka, and Marcin EIGHTBM Białobrzewski's latest game update of ' Ami-H.E.R.O '. An Amiga game which is inspired by that Activision 8bit classic.
