Inertia - An Atari XE/XL conversion from the BBC Micro version by Fandal and Buddy

Here on Indie Retro News we do love writing about the Atari XL/XE, I mean seriously we can't stop featuring the latest games released for this system. Well here we are with another story sent to us by Saberman, and it's the latest game of 'Inertia'; An Atari XE/XL conversion from the BBC Micro version by Fandal and Buddy! To coincide with this Atari XL/XE news update, Saberman has also done a video showing the game being played.

Bruce Lee Anniversary Edition - HOT NEWS as a 1984 game hit arrives on the Commodore Plus/4!

We've certainly featured the 1984 game of Bruce Lee more than a few times now, especially with games such as Eel Ecurb for the Atari XL/XE and Bruce Lee - Return of Fury released on the C64. But now we look towards something incredible for our retro kicks, as plus4world‎ has announced that Bruce Lee has been fully converted over to the Commodore Plus/4 by the very prolific old-school Plus/4 scene developer and also most famous for his rewrites of C64 games "TCFS"!

Rick Dangerous - A very difficult platforming classic gets a SAM Coupe Conversion

We've always had a soft spot for that classic Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and DOS game 'Rick Dangerous'; a very challenging action platformer from the late 80's, that made you feel like an Indiana Jones character traversing dangerous locations such as caves and temples while avoiding the bad guys and deadly boulders and spiked traps. Well if you remember this fine game (some people didn't like it) you'll be overjoyed to learn that as of today, you can download the SAM Coupe conversion which has been released by Anton JavorĨek requiring 512KB of Memory Expansion.

Taz - Another release from Arlasoft and again an Atari 2600 to C64 conversion/port

If you're looking for even more Atari 2600 to C64 conversion/ports then you've come to the right place, as thanks to yet another heads up from Saberman, we've been told you can also download Arlasoft's new game release of 'Taz'; a video game developed and released by Atari, Inc. in 1983 for the Atari 2600, which features the Looney Tunes character the Tasmanian Devil as a spinning Tornado in an all out food frenzy.

Freeway - An Atari 2600 to C64 port by Arlasoft gets a release

We've featured many Atari 2600 to C64 conversions and ports through the years, from Spider Fighter, to Keystone Kapers and even our personal favorite Frostbite. Well here's some good news to get us through this Monday which has been developed by Arlasoft, is the Atari 2600 to C64 conversion/port of Freeway; a video game written by David Crane for the Atari 2600 and published by Activision in 1981, in which you need to get your chicken(s) across the road as many times as possible for a high score.

PARSEC - A conversion of the TI-99/4A 1982 game over to the speccy


Conversions, ports and inspirations we certainly do like them on Indie Retro News, especially if they are very good such as the many Arcade developments on the C64. But today we have something slightly different, as going by a new video posted by Saberman, we now know that if you have a ZX Spectrum, you can download the latest game of 'PARSEC'; A conversion/port of the classic 1982 game by Texas Instruments that was released originally on the TI-99/4A computer.

Raid Over Moscow - An all time classic has finally arrived on the Amiga!


April is going all out with the great news, as if you think Fix It Felix Jr. for the C64 was a rather special announcement, then Raid Over Moscow on the Amiga will have your jaws hitting the floor. Yes indeed this amazing 8bit game of which we have announced as coming to the Amiga, has finally been released by Pixelglass Games; a great game that was originally released in the early 80's for the C64, Atari 8-bit, Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro, ZX Spectrum and Apple II.

Tapper - Arcade beer drinking classic appears on the Amiga as an early test!


One game that many people remember so fondly that's all about serving patrons in a pub, was that classic game 'Tapper'; a game by Marvin Glass and Associates released by Bally Midway, all those years ago in the Arcades in 1983. In fact this game also appeared on the Atari 2600, Atari 8bit, Amstrad CPC, BBC MICRO, C64, MSX and yes even the ZX Spectrum. So why is this fine Arcade game getting a mention on IRN? Well it has now appeared on the Amiga as an early development test by OLD BOB!

The Pit - 1982 Arcade game gets a ZX Spectrum conversion release!


Thanks to a heads up in our ZX Spectrum group, especially if you're looking for a new ZX Spectrum game to play. As we've just been told by Dave Tansley, that he has now released his ZX Spectrum game of 'The Pit'; a conversion of the 1982 coin-op, which as the creator notes, is an annoying little game which somehow never got ported to the Spectrum (it got a C64 port) and which he finds oddly enjoyable.

Prince of Persia - A brilliant retro gaming classic is coming to the Intellivision


This year just keeps on giving for retro gaming news, as just moments ago we were told that the all time classic platformer of 'Prince of Persia' is coming to the Intellivision as a conversion/port by Matthew Kiehl. This game was originally released in 1989 by BrĆøderbund for multiple systems and featured lots of well designed platforming levels and extreme danger, as you must be careful not to fall through loose floors, get hit by sword wielding guards, crushed by gates or at worst skewered in blood on deadly spikes.

Kung Fu Master - Upcoming Amiga conversion of a classic Arcade game gets an update


While many of you are still playing the excellent Arcade conversion of 'Rygar', there's another conversion you might be interested in playing, although not yet finished, and that's Kung Fu Master by Seko. Yes indeed this game which appeared in the 1980's in the Arcades that was later released on many different systems including the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Amstrad CPC, Apple II, Commodore 64, NES/Famicom, MSX and even the ZX Spectrum, is now partly playable on an Amiga, as an early work in progress update.

Berzerk - Classic 1980's arcade game by Stern gets a NES Conversion


Great news if  you have an NES or Famicom as we've recently been given the heads up by RVG that Parisoft has released an unofficial port of the original arcade version of ' Bezerk ' for the NES/Famicom console! Why is this great news you might ask? Well Bezerk was one of the first games to dynamically generate mazes and have synthesized voices in the 1980's and it's a damn fun game to play as well!

Mr. Do! - Unofficial ZX Spectrum conversion of a classic arcade game from 1982 released!


Another great announcement for a weekend, as if you were an Arcade gamer in the early 80's then you'll be pleased to know Adrian Singh has released the classic Universal game of 'Mr. Do!' to the ZX Spectrum as an Arcade conversion. This conversion which we mentioned a little while ago, also features fantastic graphics which was designed by the talented Mark R Jones, an ex-Ocean software graphics designer!

Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix - 1980's racing game gets a great Enterprise 128k conversion


The 128k version of R-Type wasn't the only game to grace the Enterprise system, as just moments ago thanks to a heads up by Teemu KorvenpƤƤ, we've also learnt that Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix; a game from 1988 and developed by DJL Software Ltd. Has also been converted over to the Enterprise from the Amstrad CPC. Now unlike the other conversion just mentioned, this one has had some rather surprising changes, which makes it far more of an enjoyable game to play.

Mr. Do! - Unofficial ZX Spectrum conversion of a classic arcade game from 1982 teased!


We always try to keep you up to date with the best in Speccy news, but boy do we have a surprise for you. As if you were an Arcade gamer in the early 80's then you'll be pleased to know Adrian Singh is bringing the classic Universal game of 'Mr. Do!' to the ZX Spectrum as an Arcade conversion. To coincide with this news, Mark R. Jones(ex-Ocean Software graphic designer) who is doing the Graphics, has released an early gameplay teaser giving us a good glimpse of this upcoming conversion.

R-Type 128k - It's now time for the Enterprise to have this incredible Shoot em up port conversion!


You may remember our big article on the Amstrad remake of 'R-Type 128k' which came with high praise and regarded as one of the most downloaded Amstrad homebrew's ever. But there's another remake that is set to take the Enterprise scene by storm and it's 'R-Type 128k', which has since been released by Easter Egg and converted by Geco @ 2019. This conversion of an already ported game, is an incredible overhaul of a classic as it sports much higher detail, smoother frame rates, and top quality sound.

Alien 8 - Ultimate Play the Game classic is coming to the C64!


Possibly the best news of the day unless something even better gets announced, as we have recently come across a post from a good friend, that the Ultimate Play The Game classic ' Alien 8 ', will be coming to the C64 as from next year 2019! This port is being worked on by EMU with loading screen by STE, and was originally developed by the legends that is Ultimate Play the Game for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad CPC and MSX in 1985!

Pinball Dreams CPC - Fantastic Amiga classic on the Amstrad CPC is nearly here!


At the end of 2016-2017 we announced the fantastic Amiga pinball game ' Pinball Dreams ' by Digital Illusions CE in 1992 had finally been made available as a preview download on the Amstrad CPC by none other than Batman Group, creators of the scene demo Batman Forever. Well here we are again as we are pleased to tell you that after much excitement and global Amstrad load ups of the brilliant preview, Batman Group has announced that they are in the final stage with 'testing' to have an accurate gaming experience to that of the Amiga 500!

Alley Cat - Atari/DOS cat classic coming to the ZX Spectrum ( Update )

Some time back we announced that Bill Williams and published by Synapse Softwares 'Alley Cat' for the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984 was coming to the ZX Spectrum as a port by Destr with as much of the original gameplay intact. Sadly that conversion became MIA and it was down to Jordi to take the reigns and give us that much needed conversion/demake which was announced via the ZX-Dev MIA remake competition. Well you'll be pleased to know unlike that version the demake has come along well enough for the creator to release a small beta demo.

Tower of Rubble 64 - A rubble crushing conversion for the C64 is coming


A new C64 game is coming and unlike any other game before it, you've got to climb and climb and avoid being crushed to death by falling rubble. Welcome to Tower of Rubble 64, a C64 conversion of a CGA entry by Flatgub, whereby the only challenge is to survive as long as possible on the lethal Tower of Rubble as it crumbles and rebuilts itself around you. Can you survive for a great high score, or will you end up getting squashed flat?
