Ghosts 'n Goblins overhaul for the GX4000 gets a great final version!
Way back in 1985 Capcom released the start of one of the greatest side scrolling platform game series we have ever known. It featured a knight, creepy enemies, lots of graves and was extremely difficult to the point of frustration. The game I am talking about is of course ' Ghost 'N Goblins ', the first game in the Ghosts 'n Goblins franchise which appeared on many different systems such as the Amstrad, C64 and ZX Spectrum. And it is that game from the Amstrad CPC version which has now received a final overhaul for the GX4000!
Bomb Jack Beer Edition - Enhanced classic WIP for the Commodore Amiga gets a great beta!
It's not even the start of the week and do we have some great news for you! As Graeme Cowie has once again contacted us regarding his Bomb Jack Beer edition with a new beta update. Yes this rather nice Arcade to Amiga conversion has reached even higher heights, as not only does it look a lot better, but it's so much nicer to play which makes it a worthy download indeed!

It's a time to rejoice ZX Spectrum gamers as we've just been told that the latest ZX Spectrum competition called ZX-DEV conversions is now over and the results have been announced. So who's the big winner? Read on to find out!
NES Beat Em Up Mighty Final Fight Arrives on the ZX Spectrum
Mighty Final Fight was originally a NES game way back in 1993, the cuter home console cousin of arcade beat ‘em up Final Fight. And now, thanks to the combined talents of Alexander ‘Sanchez’ Udotov, graphics wiz Eugene ‘ER’ Rogulin and Oleg ‘n1k-o’ Nikitin on the AY chip, it has made a triumphant appearance on the 128k ZX Spectrum.
Ninja Gaiden Shadow Warriors - A Gameboy game is coming to the ZX Spectrum
As many of you know by now, the latest ZX Spectrum competition called ZX-DEV conversions had been launched and already had seen a number of decent games in development that were hoping for a prize or two. As the competition is still ongoing, we are still seeing new conversions appearing and one such game announced recently and called Ninja Gaiden Shadow Warriors by Jerri & DaRkHoRaCe, is a conversion of the Gameboy original which was released way back in 1991.
Ghouls 'N Ghosts Arcade port on the Atari STE gets new footage and play test!
As we said before in 1988 Capcom released one of the finest Arcade games ever to grace the gaming scene, and that game was the incredible and most frustrating platformer Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which appeared on lots of systems including the Atari ST. And it's the Atari which has again appeared in our news feed, as thanks to a heads up by our friends AtariCrypt, the arcade conversion to the Atari STE as a work in progress by Anima, has not only been made available as a first beta test, but it looks far better than the previous showing!
KillerBees - Phillips G7000 game converted over to the Amiga by Gary James
Another awesome find by Per-Ola Eriksson and again related to the Amiga, is the recently released conversion of 'KillerBees' from the Phillips G7000 to the Amiga by Gary James 2017. Now this unusual game was first released way back in 1983 by Bob Harris and although not featuring high quality graphics ( it is an old game ), it is rather fun especially as playing as Killer Bee's you must sting invaders to death while also avoiding other enemy Bee's that are buzzing around you
Donkey Kong - The Atari 8-bit Arcade hack is finally here!
In 1981 Nintendo released one of the most famous games of all time, and that game was ' Donkey Kong '. A game in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. That same game which many of us still enjoy to this day, appearing as a port on a number of systems has finally appeared as an overhauled Atari 8-bit version by darryl1970, with a number of tweaks and enhancements.
VVVVVV Preview v2 - Another modern indie game to C64 conversion and this was the first one!
As many of you know, we were the very first to get the news out that the extremely challenging 2010 modern indie game of ' VVVVVV ' by Terry Cavanagh, was made available as a full conversion to the C64 by unctiover and released by Laxity. Well some of you were a bit confused and had asked us if this was the same conversion that was making the rounds some years ago, and our response was no it was not the same one, as can be seen by this latest VVVVVV Preview 2, which has now been released by Paulko64 on the C64.
Popeye - Gabriele Amore's latest ZX Spectrum game is an Arcade conversion!
This month has been non stop for retro gaming ports, such as the Ultimate Play the Game line ups appearing on the Atari, and more especially with the C64 with Pentagram. But if those sorts of games were not your cup of tea, then I think you will really like this one. As today saw the release of the Arcade to ZX Spectrum conversion of 'Popeye' by Gabriele Amore with music by Alessandro Grussu, which originally was a Nintendo Arcade platformer released way back in 1983.
Donkey Kong - Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK is in development & Atari 5200 conversion released

A game in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. Hobgoblin 2 - WIP Atari XL/XE conversion of BBC Micro game by David Parsons
Earlier this month, +Adam+ via the Atariage forums, announced a new work in progress conversion of the BBC Micro game ' Hobgoblin ' for the Atari XL/XE. Originally released for the Amstrad, BBC Micro, C64 and then a previous conversion (2008) to the Atari 8bit. ' Hobgoblin ' will now be known as ' Hobgoblin 2' and will feature all new in game graphics, new levels and possibly more. To coincide with this news, a work in progress footage tease has been released.
Hugohunt - A new C16/C64 game inspired by Atari XE German title! (UPDATE)
I think after this I'm going to take the weekend off, as it has been non stop this week with some fantastic game news from across the globe, but after today my brain feels like mush ;). But anyway, hot off the press is the new C16/C64 game ' Hugohunt ' by Angelsoft, which is inspired by an Atari XE German title from the 1980's, and unlike their previous early version announcement is officially finished.
Rainbow Walker - Atari 8bit classic gets an Atari 5200 conversion
Created in just 1.5 days by Wrathchild and noted as a conversion based on a top Atari 8-bit game, comes a new Atari 5200 port of ' Rainbow Walker ', which also appeared on the C64. First released way back in 1983, designed by Steve Coleman and published by Synapse Software. You play as a strange little creature called Cedrick, who hops on a dark and colourless rainbow as a goal to colour it and advance to the next level.
E-Type - BBC Micro racer conversion for the Atari 8bit!
Searching through the atariage 8bit forums for more games to play, as we took some time off over the Christmas period, we came across a rather interesting racing game that might be worth a play via an emulator or even an original Atari 8bit system. This is E-Type ( no not R-Type ) by Fandal, a full BBC Micro to Atari 8bit conversion of Gordon J. Key and published by The Forum Dimension game, that was classed as a clone to Sega's arcade driving game of Out Run, which featured a blue Jag instead of a Ferrari.
Dark Chambers - A Gauntlet Conversion for the Atari 2600 by CDS Games!
Arcade Version
Of all the games I remember growing up with, is the 1980's Arcade game of ' Gauntlet ' which is a fantasy hack and slash game by Atari Games that gave you the choice of playing as four different characters against a horde of ghosts, grunts, demons, sorcerers and thieves in multiple themed levels. It was such a brilliant game in fact, I just had to have it on both my Amstrad and Amiga. But now a developer by the name of CDS Games is converting the Atari 2600 game of Dark Chambers into Gauntlet, as an Atari 2600 hack.
Popeye - Atari 5200 arcade improvement and an 8-bit port!
Now here's a blast from the past and no it's not the Amstrad version of Popeye, but an arcade Atari 5200 improvement and 8-bit conversion to the original Atari 5200 arcade port of a Nintendo platformer by Parker Bros, released way back in 1983. In a similar vein to Donkey Kong albeit not as good, you play as Popeye and must collect hearts, musical notes and the letters H-E-L-P that the lovable character Olive drops from the top of the screen. But be warned, just like the cartoon, Brutus will get in your way with the help of the bad Sea Hag!
