Realms of Quest V - An eye opening RPG for the VIC-20 gets a new trailer


Way back in 2014 developer Ghislain de Blois released Realms of Quest IV for the Commodore VIC-20 through the publisher Psytronik. It was another game in the series as a fine tribute to classic style turn based, party based dungeon crawlers of the 1980‘s, with graphics reminiscent of the early Wizardry games I-IV. If you remember those awesome games, you'll be pleased to know Double Sided Games have shown off new footage of the upcoming sequel in the series as ' Realms of Quest V ' by Ghislain De Blois@hitfan2000!

The Shadows of Sergoth - Superb work in progress Amiga Dungeon Crawler gets another teaser!


If you have an Amstrad near by, chances are you would've come across the excellent homebrew Dungeon Crawler ' The Shadows of Sergoth ' which blew many of us away with high quality development featuring over 46000 lines of assembly code, fast coded graphics, monsters and cool loot. Well if you don't have an Amstrad but instead an Amiga, you will be pleased to know the previously announced work in progress Amiga version, has just got a very cool video update!

Black Dawn Rebirth - Double Sided Games latest Amiga crawler with new Alpha footage


Moments ago we were contacted by Double Sided Games, that they have released a brand new Alpha teaser for their upcoming Dungeon Crawler ' Black Dawn Rebirth '. Now if you remember our previous posts from this great publisher, they told us Black Dawn Rebirth is the 7th episode of the Black Dawn Dungeon Crawler/RPG series that is going to be released on the Amiga at some point in the near future. This footage is the very first we've seen that gives us a good glimpse of what the game entails.

Double Sided Games has been the highlight of retro publishing these last few months, as not only did they publish the brilliant game L’abbaye des morts for the C64, but they have also announced the upcoming RPG Realms of Quest V for the Commodore VIC-20, as well as the eagerly awaited dungeon crawler Amiga port of The Shadows of Sergoth. Well there's HOT NEWS for this afternoon, as they have moments ago announced an Amiga teaser for Black Dawn Rebirth; the 7th episode of the Black Dawn Dungeon Crawler/RPG series!

If you've been following our news throughout 2018 you would've learnt that the incredible homebrew dungeon crawler of The Shadows of Sergoth, was not only released to the delight of the Amstrad community, but was also being ported over to the Amiga by Colin Vella, Graphics and Sound by Saul Cross and publishing by the popular publishers Double Sided Games. Well there's great news today as the publishers have released new footage showing the very latest in development for this eagerly awaited Amiga crawler.

L'abbaye Des Morts - Upcoming eagerly awaited C64 port gets a wicked trailer!


If you've been following Indie Retro News through these last few years, you would've known about Locomalito's awesome retro styled platformer 'L'Abbaye des Morts', which not only appeared on the PC, but as a release on the ZX Spectrum, and as a port for the Amiga OS 4 and Sega Megadrive. Well if you've also been keeping an eye on the C64 news we've been announcing and are aware of the C64 version in development by Antonio Savona and Graphics, music, sfx by Saul Cross with full permission of Locomalito. Then you'll be over joyed to learn the game is not only coming Jan 18th, but an official trailer has been launched by the publishers Double Sided Games!

Some time back we announced the release of L'Abbaye des Morts; a great retro platformer in a ZX Spectrum style that was originally developed by Locomalito who is no stranger to developing fantastic games such as Maldita Castilla and Hydorah. Well you'll be pleased to know that same game which got a fabulous preview by hayesmaker64 of the C64 port from Antonio Savona and Double Sided Games, will officially be released for the Commodore 64 as from this month January 2019!

L'Abbaye des Morts 64 - Exclusive first review


L’Abbaye des Morts (The Abbey of the Dead) 64, is the latest game from Antonio Savona and Double Sided Games. It’s actually a port of a ZX spectrum inspired mini game, written by Locamolito and released as freeware for Windows in 2010, It’s been ported to Linux, Mac OSX, Nintendo Wii / 3DS, SEGA Megadrive and in 2014 received a cassette version for ZX Spectrum. It’s also got a Dreamcast and now a C64 version on the way.

The game was recently finished for C64, with a limited run of cartridge and floppy disk versions announced for pre-order from Double Sided Games. And a cassette version will be available later from Psytonik. So far we’ve only seen work in progress screenshots and videos from the game… but Double Sided Games were kind enough to send me a fully working version of the game to review and to play on my Twitch stream. So let’s start with the review!
