The Shadows of Sergoth - Stunning homebrew Dungeon Crawler with new Amiga footage!


If you've been following our news throughout 2018 you would've learnt that the incredible homebrew dungeon crawler of The Shadows of Sergoth, was not only released to the delight of the Amstrad community, but was also being ported over to the Amiga by Colin Vella, Graphics and Sound by Saul Cross and publishing by the popular publishers Double Sided Games. Well there's great news today as the publishers have released new footage showing the very latest in development for this eagerly awaited Amiga crawler.

Legends of Amberland - 90's inspired crawler by Silver Lemur Games coming Q1 2019!


Pushing out more great news and this time we head towards a decent looking Dungeeon Crawler by the name of ' Legends of Amberland ' by Silver Lemu Games. This rather nice looking crawler that is currently in an early stage of development, is an upcoming classic styled RPG that is inspired by great games from the 90's such as Dungeon Master, Eye of The Beholder 2, Might & Magic 3-5, Crystals of Arborea, and even the GoldBox series (Champions of Krynn, Dark Queen of Krynn, etc).

Operencia: The Stolen Sun - Modern homage to classic first-person dungeon-crawlers gets a trailer


Gather your party, pick up your weapons and venture into the lands of Operencia, as the developers Zen Studios have just released a brand new trailer for their upcoming retro inspired Dungeon Crawler 'Operencia: The Stolen Sun'; a game which is due to be released next year on Steam as a modern homage to classic crawlers set in the land of Operencia. An unconventional fantasy world inspired by a faraway land referenced in countless Central European folktales.

Aeon of Sands - The Trail - A dark and twisted dungeon crawler is finally here!


Glorious news today Dungeon Crawler fans, as just moments ago we were contacted by Two Bits Kid that their eagerly awaited crawler of ' Aeon of Sands ' has finally been released on Steam! Yes indeed this game of which we have mentioned countless times on IRN, has finally made its appearance and now everyone has the chance to play this dark and twisted crawler, as if Eye of the Beholder was set in a post-apoclyptic landscape with flesh eating creatures.

I'm almost in complete disbelief as moments ago trawling through our twitter feed, we've just heard about an upcoming dungeon crawler called ' The Shadows of Sergoth ', that will be coming to the Commodore Amiga as from Q4 2019 as both a floppy edition and digital download. Now if you've heard of this game before, that's because this awesome dungeon crawler was previously released on the Amstrad CPC 6128 and is one of the best homebrew's of 2018.

Don't get me wrong I love dungeon crawlers, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore and even Dungeon Master. But I've always wanted something with a much more darker tone, something that really gives the genre a much needed shake up. Thankfully it looks as if Two Bits Kid in development dungeon crawler of Aeon of Sands is about to do just that! As according to them this is a post-apocalyptic RPG, set in a dangerously pixelated desert world that eats people, and even has a taste for city clerks such as yourself!

During this year we've been keeping you up to date in regards to Andreas Larsson‎ and team's work in progress Eye of the Beholder port that is coming to the C64, which looks as if it was released all those years ago along side the Amiga. Well you'll be pleased to know we've got a bit of special treat for you, as a new piece of footage has appeared which doesn't just show the character generation, but loading and saving and the first level!

Dungeon Hunt II - A new dungeon crawler gets an Atari 8bit preview


Our love of Dungeon Crawlers is strong, from the days of Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder, to the more modern tone of Grimrock and Aeon of Sands. But there's another crawler that's coming and this one is an Atari 8bit homebrew which has not only been anounced with a release date of Fall/Winter 2018 but has been teased with a brand new trailer showing the movement and combat!

Eye of the Beholder C64 - Work continues on this jaw dropping port!


During the last few months or so we've been keeping you up to date as much as possible in regards to the work in progress C64 port of Eye of the Beholder, which has pretty much blown everyone away so far in just how incredible the game is looking so far. Mary Skelter: Nightmares - Dark fairy tale-themed Japanese dungeon crawler


When I think of dungeon crawlers I think of the classic kind, the ones like Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore. Basically mighty knights and mages fighting against the undead or rats! Well to my surprise there's one game that peaked my interest and is not my usual style of game, is the Japanese dungeon crawler ' Mary Skelter: Nightmares '. A new game on GOG and Steam as a dark fairy tale crawler set in a mysterious tower inspired by twisted fairy tales.

As most of you know I'm a huge Dungeon Crawling RPG fan, especially games that hark back to the days of Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore. Thus it's with some excitement to announce that the work in progress crawler 'Aeon of Sands ' developed by Two Bits Kid, has been shown off with new footage giving us a glimpse at the new magic system, new spell selection and new audio ambient track.

During the last few months we've been keeping you up to date in regards to Andreas Larsson‎ and team's work in progress Eye of the Beholder port that is coming to the C64 at some point this year. Featuring high quality graphics with an impressive development cycle that even appeared in a feature packed interview here on Indie Retro News, has reached far and wide in the retro scene. So you'll be pleased to know the developer has finally shown the game actually working on REAL C64 Hardware!

We don't often do Interviews as it's not our style, but with the upcoming dungeon crawler port of Eye of the Beholder, which is coming to the C64 I'd be damned if I was to miss out. So as a special bonus we contacted the head coder of this fantastic port by Andreas Larsson with a number of quality questions including many from our readers to find out even more about this highly impressive dungeon crawler C64 port that could be coming this year!

Black Crypt, Dungeon Master, Lands of Lore and many others were the prime of the Dungeon Crawling experience. Moving in a grid based style while finding lootable items, pulling levers and battling untold horrors with every deep level visited. One such game that ranks highly amongst all the others was of course Eye of the Beholder, which as many of you were made aware is on its way to the C64 thanks to a team of people such as Andreas Larsson, Micke Backlund, Ilkka Sjöstedt, Oliver Lindau, Lars Verhoff and Linus.

It wasn't long ago now that we shocked the community with an announcement that Andreas Larsson, Micke Backlund, Ilkka Sjöstedt, Oliver Lindau, Lars Verhoff and Linus was bringing the incredible 1990's dungeon crawler of Eye of the Beholder to the C64 as a reboot of his previous showing some  years back. Well you'll be pleased to know the game is advancing very well, as over this past week Andreas Larsson has updated us with some lovely new images including new portraits from Lars 'Mirage' Verhoeff.

We've been banging on about Dungeon Crawlers since the dawn of time, well not really but since Indie Retro News was created. So you can see why of all the games we've mentioned, Eye of the Beholder as a port on the C64 has got all of my attention. Coded by Andreas Larsson, this incredible dungeon crawler which was released way back in the 90's on multiple systems including the Amiga, is coming to the C64 with Easy Flash as the target HW and is also supported on emulators. To coincide with this news, the creator has teamed up with Naveed 'Algorithm' Khugiani who has helped to add sounds using his refined encoders

Year in year out I always talk about Dungeon Crawlers, It doesn't matter if it's a new game, mod, or just a trip down memory lane related to games such as Eye of the Beholder, I just have to talk about it. So it stands to reason why in complete shock that we've just been told Andreas Larsson‎ has rebooted his effort to bring this incredible game of Eye of The Beholder as a port to the C64!
