Elite +4 Flicker free Pi - A flicker free and UPDATED classic as the definitive version for the C64/Plus/4 is now available

As we said before, we've always had a soft spot for Elite ever since the original 1984 release and then the fantastic sequel 'Frontier Elite II' on the Amiga in 1993. Each one vastly different in graphical quality, but still giving a space-sim sci-fi experience like no other allowing the user to fight in space, trade, complete missions and even in Frontier Elite II land on planets. However for those of you who own a C64 or Plus/4 should check out the latest release of Elite +4 Flicker free Pi. A flicker free and updated version freshly introduced by Mark Moxon – of Pigmy's great classic Elite +4 as the definitive version for the C64 and Plus/4.

ELITE 3D ENGINE - Another impressive Engine demo'd on the ZX Spectrum

It was only just the other day that we showed you an eye opening Quake engine created by Alone Coder together with Dragons' Lord, that was running at an impressive speed on a standard ZX Spectrum 128k. Well fast forward to today and if you thought that was indeed impressive, then ZX-Retro Gaming has also shown some new footage of the ELITE / INFO GUIDE 3D ENGINE: A new engine in which you can explore the "Ruins of the Guardians" from "Elite Dangerous: Odyssey" on your ZX Spectrum.

Gates of the Ancient - Fans of the classic Elite, might like this new C64 game by Drmortalwombat

With the amount of platformers and shoot 'em ups we've featured on Indie Retro News, you'd probably think this game would be another one to add to a long list of games following that typical genre. But worry not C64 owners! Elite on the Vectrex? That's rather impressive!

Only just recently I was talking to a few friends about the original David Braben's 8-bit space combat trading simulator of Elite, and how we've seen a few fan based remakes appear such as Oolite and even the Android port of Alite. But this latest news update is pretty impressive indeed! As if you've got a Vectrex or thinking of getting one, you might be interested to know that Ralf Kornmann is working on bringing that classic space game of "Elite" over to that classic retro system!

Alite - Classic Amiga Elite gets an Android port!

Only just recently I was talking to a few friends about the original David Braben's 8-bit space combat trading simulator of Elite, and how we've seen a few fan based remakes appear such as Oolite. Yes we've had the modern eye candy release of Elite Dangerous, but now we have come to mention another fan based remake, but this time it's ' ALITE', which is based on the original Amiga version and ported over to the Android. Developed by Stardust as a free fan port of the classic, has been in development for over 2.4 years and is now available to download today.

Paperboy USA - C64 +3D NTSC fixed release!

You may or may not have read our excellent review of Paperboy, Elite's awesome arcade game from the 1980's. But the C64 release which was originally cracked and released by different groups has now appeared as a USA - NTSC version which hopefully should appeal to our retrogaming American readers. According to the Underground Domain Inc release group, they've added a trainer for cheating, fixed the game to stop the flickering and to stop the crashing while using an NTSC machine.

Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade - A stunning revamp for the C64 is now available! (Indie Retro News Exclusive!) {UPDATE}

In March of 2015 Nostalgia blew us all away with their C64 release of 'Commando Arcade SE'; a brilliant Arcade revamp of the 1980's C64 hit classic Commando. It was a faithful version to the Arcade and featured more levels, new level features, new graphics, a new scroller and much much more. Yet they weren't content with doing just Commando, as Nostalgia are hopefully going to release Ghosts'n'Goblins Arcade this weekend, perhaps even today Saturday! (See Update). True to form, this version will once again be a faithful version to the original arcade, whereas the original Commodore 64 version is somewhat different from the arcade version as it only features the Graveyard and Forest, The Ice Palace, The Floating Platforms and Firebridge and The Caves in that order. So if you thought Commando Arcade SE was brilliant, wait till you play this latest overhaul!
