In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's. In actual fact it was so well loved that a fan by the name of Yeti Bomar (aka Watain) has announced the release of the incredible looking fan game of 'Alex Kidd 3 - Curse In Miracle World' for the Sega Master System.

Super Mario Bros appears on the Amiga as a project called Other Super Mario
This year could almost be classed as the year of the Mario as it seems there has been no let up in that famous plumber either appearing on different systems as ports, fan games on the PC with Super Mario Bros. X 2.0, or hack jobs such as Communist Mario on the NES. And yet the year hasn't finished, as here we are again with another Super Mario Bros and this time Shigeru Miyamoto's game has been shown off on the Amiga as a project by Retro1234
Maniac on the Mississippi - Adventure tribute downloadable for free!
In 1987 Lucasfilms released the critically acclaimed graphic adventure of Maniac Mansion. It had for it's time fantastic graphics, animation, humour and story telling with its point-and-click interface becoming a standard feature in the genre. Also not long ago the same team behind the game Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick even smashed their Kickstarter goal for an adventure in that very same style called ' Thimbleweed Park '. So how would you like to play a new fan adventure in the same graphics as Maniac Mansion, but a tribute to the C64 game of Murder on the Mississippi? Welcome to ' Maniac on the Mississippi ' by Elvis Tanner.
How Do I Play Zelda? - Zelda Dungeon Romper from Joelmacool12
It has been some time now since we last featured a Zelda fan game, so we set out to change all that by finding one that is both enjoyable to play and will keep you occupied for more than just an hour. Well here we are with 'How Do I Play Zelda?' developed by Joelmacool12; a large enough Zelda quest that features 5 levels that are found by story, and 4 levels that are found by adventuring!
Dizzy The Last Hero - Mind blowing quality for a Dizzy game release!
It may be midnight here in the UK but boy do I have a treat for every Dizzy gamer or retro gamer alike, as trz has released what we would class as a very high quality Dizzy game. Weighing in at nearly 20mb in size and having one of the best main intro soundtracks I've heard, 'Dizzy The Last Hero' sets the stage for a winning Dizzy Age Easter competition entry for 2015.
Futurama Professor Vetus I presume - Yet another adventuring fan game in the works!
When we first mentioned Arjon van Dam's adventure game based on Futurama we knew it was going to be very popular with our readers but we didn't expect it to be the top most viewed article this month. So without further-ado it's time to mention another adventure game based on Futurama titled 'Futurama Professor Vetus I presume', and this one is by Iker Maya which looks to be more feature packed and already has a game play video.
The Forbidden City - Top quality Zelda fun from Jamian
We haven't featured a Zelda fan release for a very long time and thankfully with the release of ' The Forbidden City' that is about to change. Developed by Jamian, the same developer behind Zelda: Linked To The Past, The Forbidden City is a highly impressive fan release that features a real ocarina item, gasha seeds and rings, 7 large dungeons and smaller mini-dungeons, fully scripted bosses and minibosses, minigames and scripted items.
Reality land Dizzy - A Dizzy fan game based on real life!
The newest free Dizzy fan game using the DizzyAge engine to appear is Wayne O`Donnell's 'Reality Land Dizzy'. Starring Dizzy himself in another great Adventure, you are tasked with the solving of puzzles that are rather unusual to say the least. You've got to think as if it was real life and everything you do has a real life impact.
SuperTed - A new shooter appears on the Amiga!
Only just recently we featured a text based adventure of DangerMouse and I mentioned the reference to classic based cartoon TV shows such as Bananaman and SuperTed. Well funnily enough today appears an arcade shooter for the Amiga from that very classic TV show that stars SuperTed himself. Although this is a fan made side scroller shooter made by Mikael Persson using Backbone, it was only developed in just three weeks. SuperTed(Amiga) features decent enough graphics with cameos from Lemmings and other Amiga based characters that must be avoided or shot at.
Dizzy visiting Titus - Russian release for the Dizzy fans
As we are a huge fan of Dizzy with our very own Dizzy Facebook group page, we'd thought it wise to mention the latest fan based Dizzy release "Dizzy Visiting Titus" from the Russian developer; Rindex. Although it is in Russian as a birthday gift for one of their members, there is not much to go with regarding the story, it's a bit difficult to translate. But what we will say is the graphics are very good, at the top end of homebrew Dizzy games and if you understand Russian the game is fully enjoyable.
Super Mario Dynamo - Fan based Mario game, free to play!
We haven't featured a new fan based Mario game for ages, so it's with great joy to announce the release of "Super Mario Dynamo"; a brand new fan game by Hello Fangaming which features Mario as the good guy and Luigi as the bad guy! As for the quality of the game, this one is above many of that we have featured, with great graphics, level design and fully playable for PC
OoT 2D - HQ 2D remake of The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time
We have had a number of popular remake mentions on our site such a Shadow of the Beast legacy, Deuteros and FreeCiv, so what better way to spend a Friday night than playing OoT 2D; a HQ 2D remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Developed as a fan project, this lovely remake has been remade in the style of A Link to the Past and although in an early stage, the developers are hoping to turn it into a fully fledged game.
Deuteros Remakes - Top quality space strategy revival
When people say to me what game do you remember the most, I'm usually quick to respond with Deuteros on the Amiga 500. It was a game like no other, a sci-fi space strategy game in which you mined for resources on the planet and from asteroids, researched new technology, and built ships to colonize the stars. Yet what made this Ian Bird game so brilliant was not only was it a sequel to the previous hit Millennium 2.2, it had a unique space design style that I feel no game has matched. Yet through all these years and talks of a remake, it wasn't until this year that two fans (Gambit/bfernhout) set about reintroducing the game into the PC crowd.
Dizzy's Poker Night - EgoTrip's first DizzyAGE game now available!
It has been some time since we've featured a new fan based Dizzy game, so when Adam on our Dizzy Facebook group gave Dizzy's Poker Night a mention, we just had to feature it! So here it is, Dizzy's Poker Night, EgoTrip's very first DizzyAGE game and one I'm sure you'll enjoy.
Kirby The Dream Battle - Kirby fighting game with plenty of action
Welcome to the latest fan based action/fighting title developed by Douglas Baldan (O Ilusionista), who makes some fine fighting games released through Gamejolt, based on classic characters. This time the developer has moved onto none other than the classic Nintendo character Kirby. According to Douglas, Kirby The Dream Battle has a very similar gameplay style to Kirby Super Star Ultra, in which you need to beat your opponents with the ability and attack of the character you are currently playing.
Deuteros : The Next Millennium - New Alpha V.0.1.16 Remake Release!
Originally designed by Ian Bird and released in 1991 as a sequel to Millennium 2.2, Deuteros was an incredible Space Strategy game for it's time and I feel there is nothing like it still today. The object of the game was to mine resources, research new tech and to colonize further out into the solar system. But it was both the construction, the story, the immersion, the space battles and ship control which set it above many of the games even released today. So gamers that remember this fine title will be pleased to know that a PC fan based remake is now in the works by Gambit.
Power Rangers: Beats of Power - Top quality free beat 'em up!
GO GO POWER RANGERS! Ah those where the days, I can't remember how many times I watched the show on TV and of cause the big movie. But then I grew up and now think it's a right load of, well you get the idea. So it was great to see today that Merso X and collaborations has developed Power Rangers: Beats of Power, which is a brand new beat 'em up based on the retrotastic Power Rangers and fused it with Beats of Rage.
Rainbow Jewels Dizzy - A retro inspired classic for free!
As you may or may not know I'm a huge fan of Dizzy, especially as I have nearly every single Amstrad Dizzy game bar Spellbound Dizzy which I'm still trying to find. So without further ado it's time to mention the latest Dizzy inspired game that has appeared on DizzyAge, and that game is Rainbow Jewels Dizzy by the developer Grandad (No not my Grandad, that's just the developer). As usual with Dizzy you'll be solving puzzles, talking to characters and reliving classic 80's era gaming all in a quest to collect all the legendary rainbow jewels. A game we recommended for old and new gamers alike!
