Right from the word go, we were one of the first gaming websites to give you the heads up about TIGERSKUNK's amazing Shoot 'em up of Inviyya; a game with amazing scrolling graphics, super action, great sound effects, and a real hark back to days of R-Type or Project-X. Well time has passed since its release, as this week the same developer has now announced a new demo to his upcoming fighting game that is coming to the Amiga called 'Krogharr'; a new OCS action slasher which was teased some time ago with just a few screenshots.
International Karate RCX/RC 2023 - Remake and new scenarios by Homesoft for the Atari XL/XE
Yet another Saberman heads up and no not an Amiga, C64 or ZX Spectrum game, is the Atari XL/XE karate remake called ' International Karate RCX/RC 2023 ' by Homesoft; a game which pits you against the computer or another player in a multitude of karate competitions! While details are sparse about this version of the game, from what we've found out is this is a remake with new scenarios for the Atari XL/XE with 130XE memory. In light of this news, Saberman was also kind enough to do a video of the game being played.
Kick of the Spear - Fast-paced 1 and 2 player fighting game for the Commodore 64
We've featured a number of fighting games on the C64, from the previously previewed Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition to Monstro Giganto. Well here we are with another fighting game mention, as thanks to Saberman who gave us the shout out here on Indie Retro News, we've been told that Magovinna has released the fast paced 1 to 2 player fighting game of Kick of the Spear for the C64. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a video showing the game in action below.

Once again there's another fighting game that's well worth a mention, as thanks to Jon Eggelton letting us know through our Indie Retro News Facebook group, we've been told that he and Gianluca Alberico is working on a new game for the C64 called 'SNK vs CAPCOM'; a game which is using their in development fighting engine known as RetroFighter. In light of this news update, not only is there some new footage for you to view, but a demo has made available for you to try on a C64!

Well here we are with another fighting game mention, as thanks to Ed Barbos who gave us the shout out here on Indie Retro News, we've been told RetroGL is working on a versus fighting engine for the C64 called 'Retro Fighter'. In light of this news update, Ed Barbos has said there is an amazing Snk vs Capcom demake from Neo Geo Pocket for the C64 in the works of which we should announce with a video posted below.
Okinawa Rush - A seriously cool Beat Em Up/Platformer is coming to GOG/Steam OCT 21st + Demo
Move over Way of the Exploding Fist as a new game is fighting to take your belt. Titled as Okinawa Rush and developed by David Miller, Steve Miller and Gary Angelone, this is a seriously cool ninja beat em up based platformer, that is in development for PC(Windows) with a release due Oct 21st. In this game you play as the experienced martial artist Hiro Yashima, who has honed his skills to a supernatural level. But after coming across his murdered wife, and kidnapped children by the evil ninja's known as the Black Mantis clan who were looking for the legendary training scroll, he must find them and seek vengeance!
Primal Blade - A new Scorpion Engine hack n Slash Amiga game is still in the works
Another great heads up for you all, as thanks to Earok giving us the shoutout on Facebook and via the Scorpion Engine Facebook page, we've been told that Dante 3d dev@dantemendes has shown some brand new footage of his work in progress Amiga game of Primal Blade: An action platformer for the Commodore Amiga as you battle evil forces with sword in hand across a vast and dangerous landscape.
A new Scorpion Engine hack n Slash Amiga game is in the works
A very early Amiga heads up for you all, as thanks to Earok spreading the news on Facebook, we've been told that Dante 3d dev@dantemendes is working on a new action platformer for the Amiga, which is being developed using Earok's excellent Scorpion engine. Although details are very sparse at this stage, the developer has released some very early footage and hopes to add more game development information down the line.
Simon Dragon - A Double Dragon inspiration playable in your browser
Tuesday just gets better and better as another game has hit our news feeds and it's none other than Double Dragon, or shall I say 'Simon Dragon' by Claudio Cimini. First released way back in the 80's by Taito Corporation, Double Dragon was a fantastic beat 'em up game that featured high grade fighting two player fun on many different systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and C64. Monstro Giganto is the second game (following “Boxy Moxy”) developed by “The Pirates of Zanzibar”, A C64 dev team power house comprising Antonio Savona (P0 Snake, Planet Golf, L’abbaye Des Morts, Fix it Felix Jr.), Lobo (graphics) and Aldo Chiummo (music). Barbarian The Arcomage's Downfall - Bitvision Software's upcoming Barbarian MSX game looks fab!
It wasn't long ago that we announced the release of Barbarian Plus, the ultimate in Amiga remasters of a classic game released in the late 80's as Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior; A game released for the C64 and later ported to other systems such as the Amiga, Amstrad, and even the ZX Spectrum as a great head chopping game with plenty of rolling heads to keep you busy. So why are we mentioning this game you might ask? Well there's great news for the MSX community, as Barbarian The Arcomage's Downfall will be released via Bitvision Software as of the first half of 2020.
198X - Multi-Genre Arcade game by Hi-Bit Studios released on GOG and Steam
The Indie games just keep on coming today, and one that really stood out and just released on GOG and Steam, is Hi-Bit Studios latest multi genre Arcade game of ' 198X '. Now I know many of our readers have a particular favourite when it comes to game types, so this one seems to have the best of both worlds. It isn't just an Arcade brawler, but a racing game, a jumping game, a roleplayer and what really interests me is the Shoot em up part shown in the trailer!

Barbarian+ - Female warrior added to the upcoming enhanced version of a classic
It's boiling here in the uk and writing under no Aircon is a struggle, but at least we've got some good news to share as we've just been informed that the upcoming enhancement of Barbarian that is being worked on by Ten Shu, Colin Vella and Simone Bernacchia as Barbarian+ for the Commodore Amiga. Has just been teased again but this time with a new video showing a female warrior added to the game. For those that missed any previous announcements they are also working on a Warrior type, skin and kit colour selection, gore option menu.
The Way of the Exploding Fist - A fighting classic comes over to the Atari XL/XE
Here's a game I remember fondly especially on my green screen Amstrad CPC 464, is ' The Way of the Exploding Fist' ; a 1980s fighting game published by Melbourne House that appeared on many different systems such as the C16, C64, ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, and even the Acorn! This rather famous game which was very similar to Karate Champ and featured gameplay as a series of one-on-one karate matches, sadly never appeared on the Atari XL/XE, and it wasn't until recently that Fandal and Miker converted the game over to the Atari from the C16.
OpenBOR - 2D side scrolling engine gets an Amiga port!
A nice bit of Amiga news to the end the week as the 2d side scrolling engine of ' OpenBOR ' has been fully ported over to the Amiga thanks to lantus360, although you will need at least an Amiga with a fast 68040 AGA or RTG to play it. If you're wondering what OpenBOR is all about, it's an open source continuation of Beats of Rage and Streets of Rage and is regarded as the single most powerful two dimensional sprite based engine in the world, which has been used for countless freshly designed beat em ups from fan based developers.
