Grey -This first person shooter preview for the C64/128 is certainly worth a look!

Throughout the years we've featured many different types of news stories such as games, scene demos and even music disks. Well here with another eye opening news story I think you'll like, as if you have a Commodore 64/C128, then it might be worth checking out the latest update of the first person Doom like game called 'Grey'; a new game which is being currently developed by Piotr Kozka and team, and will be released at some point in the near future. In light of this news, as always Saberman has done a video of the game in action.

The Bark - A ZX Spectrum game mod of The Dark Lost Pages by (Oleg Origin)/ZOSYA entertainment

In 2021 we featured a stunning remaster of a classic game called 'The Dark'; A game originally developed by Oleg Origin back in 1997, which at the time we said was a rather unique ZX Spectrum first person shooter, that has similarities to the retro PC game of Quake. Well if you had played the game and The Dark: Lost Pages Redux by ZOSYA entertainment, then as of today you can play the newest of releases for the ZX Spectrum called The Bark: A game mod of The Dark Lost Pages which is featured in this video below.

Star Wars fans unite! BSzili releases an unofficial Amiga port of Dark Forces (High end Amiga required?)

It feels like it was only just yesterday that we announced through Indie Retro News that BSzili had unofficially released not just the full version of the classic ID Software game of 'Wolfenstein 3D' and 'Spear of Destiny', but also other games such as Exhumed, and Powerslave. Well here we are with another BSzili announcement, as he has told us that he has made available the Amiga port of the Star Wars first person shooter game of Dark Forces. "A game developed and published by LucasArts originally released in 1995 for MS-DOS and Macintosh, set in the fictional Star Wars expanded universe set shortly before the original Star Wars film, to a year after the film's events" -GOG.

Exhumed / Powerslave - Egyptian-themed FPS makes its way on to the Amiga via BSZili with the first public test

Another great heads up for all the Amiga owners out there, well ones that can run it anyway, is the MS-DOS, Sega Saturn and Playstation first person shooter of ' Exhumed/Powerslave ', has been ported over to the Amiga by BSzili as the first public test for you to try. Originally developed by Lobotomy Software back in 1996/7, Exhumed/Powerslave is a 90's Egyptian-themed FPS that is also using the Build engine, as referenced in our previous Shadow Warrior to Amiga port conversion.

It feels like it was only just yesterday we were banging on the drums about Voidpoint's excellent first person shooter of 'Ion Fury'; a game created using the Build engine, which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior. It featured kick ass weaponry, hand crafted textures and sprites and much much more, in all of its hand-crafted pixelated glory. In fact it was such a good game, that as of today you can check out the latest interview from Cola Powered Gamer with an exclusive interview with Lead Programmer, Evan Ramos and Max Ylitalo, Lead Level designer of Ion Fury .

Originally developed by 3D Realms and published by GT Interactive back in 1997. Shadow Warrior had an improved engine from the one used in Duke Nukem 3D, and featured 3D voxels instead of 2D sprites, usable inventory items, and violent head slicing katanas, Uzi's and many more to make this a bloody fine game!

Dread - Doom clone on the Amiga, John Tsakiris joins the team!


The Amiga always has a pride of place on Indie Retro News, sporting so many new games, it almost feels at times like the Amiga is back in stores. Well we've got another great news announcement for you today, as if you remember our previous article regarding the work in progress project by KK/Altair to bring Dread to the Amiga 500, which is a clone of DOOM. Then as of these last few months John Tsakiris from Pixelglass has joined the team duo to bring new graphics to the project!

We've certainly seen some impressive projects through the years on retro hardware, for example showing how well Sam's Journey and Super Mario performed on a C64 was impressive enough. But now it looks as if we are about to go one step further. As thanks to a heads up from Per Ola, we've been told KK/Altair is working on a project to show that it may be possible to run a Doom clone on just a 7MHz Amiga 500 with 1MB of RAM!

Don't get me wrong I do like playing modern first person shooters such as Shadow Warrior or even  Wolfenstein, but in all honesty I prefer playing the much older types, the original early 90's gun in hand blasters such as the original Doom or even Wolfenstein 3D. So it stands to reason why I just had to mention the first person retro inspired game ' Ion Fury '; A game that is not only going to be available today for PC and Linux and out of Early Access...But it's using the famous Build engine from 3D Realms! An engine that powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior and other 90's hits. Of old-school throwback games!

Cyberwolf - Super smooth Amiga first person shooter preview


BioJet wasn't the only game to came back to this Monday afternoon, as Saberman was also kind enough to tell us about the latest preview release of Cyberwolf, which was shown off at the Revision 2019 demoscene event.  This Amiga game with development by britelite, bracket, dodke, spiikki, oasiz and chb/kalms, is a first person shooter that at its current stage of development, is very unomptimized and may bevave weird on anything else than a regular A500 without accelerator!

Blask - First person shooter Amiga tech demo update


Once again 'Blask (eng. Shine?, Glow?, Glare?)' is in the news, as Saberman has just given us a quick heads up to tell us a new Amiga tech demo was available for this work in progress first person shooter developed using AMOS. We had already announced the previous tech demo to this game, but this new version doesn't just feature a larger 3px screen size, but also included is a new full screen addition!

There's just no stopping us this morning, as after already mentioning the latest retro news, here's a new Amiga tech demo called 'Blask (eng. Shine?, Glow?, Glare?)', or as its previous name 'Alien Enemy: Dangerous Alien', which is a new improved demo with updated movements. To coincide with this news for what looks like a very early work in progress first person shooter, not only has Saberman done a gameplay video, but you can download the AMOS test version below!

Amishion Impossible - An AGA Amiga game will be released this weekend!


Get ready to load up that Amiga or play through an Emulator ,as we've just been told via Earok that a new AGA based Amiga game called ' Amishion Impossible ' will be released this weekend. This game announced via Facebook is set after the year 2k when appliances rule the world. Free from Tyranny and away from these hellish technological objects you must defend your farm as they are out to take your freedom.

Project Warlock - A retrotastic first person shooter is coming to GOG this Thursday!


Buckshot Software have just announced their seriously cool looking retro styled first person shooter ' Project Warlock ' will be released via GOG as of this Thursday 18th October for PC gamers across the globe. Taking its inspiration from 90's shooters such as Wolfenstein 3D and Doom and as a love letter to that era, this game puts you in control of a mysterious and powerful mage who travels through dimensions and universes in an attempt to remove all evil from existence with an array of weapons and magic at his disposal.

Extreme Wolfenstien v4 - An enhancement mod for modern FPS gamers


Considering how many people loved our article in relation Ion Maiden; the work in progress first person shooter that uses the famous Build engine from 3D Realms, and Wolfenstein 3DGE, a faithful reinterpretation of the classic Wolfenstein 3D. We've found another Wolfenstein mod you might like, and this one is called Extreme Wolfenstien v4; a rather cool gameplay enhancement mod for modern gamers.

Warlock Revenge - A first person shooter inspired by DOS classics now on Steam!


Although I do play the odd modern day first person shooter such as Shadow Warrior or even Wolfenstein II The New Colossus, I'm still a huge fan of those retro classics such as Blake Stone, Hexen, or even the original Wolfenstein 3D. So to hear from Narayan Games that their retro inspired first person shooter of ' Warlock Revenge ' is now on Steam, after a previous Steam Greenlight success, I was most pleased indeed.
