Developed by Kendja and artistic work by LeonlDeye is a very well made Flash Based Strategy/RTS called Mars Colonies, which as you expect is all about colonies on Mars. Just the other day I thought to myself what if we had another outpost style game, which was a great title from Sierra, well this may fit that gap until we ever see it's like again. Mars Colonies is all about the building and protecting of your own colonies, with the ability to hire skillful colonists which you must help them to survive mars quakes, dust storms and other threats. This is a damn fine game and even though it's flash based, I'm sure you'll be impressed too!

Scepters - Flash Arcade
Four Scepters by Benjamin, is a new short Flash Arcade game that was developed for the Ludum Dare 48 Hour Competition. In Four Scepters your quest is to find the 4 scepters to banish the necromancer who rules the lands. You have up to a choice of 4 characters to play and they can be played in any order you like, either a Fighter, Wizard, Thief, and an Assassin. This Flash game is easily controllable through arrow keys, and attacking is simply moving your character in the direction the enemy is located. Be warned they can hit back, so make sure you enter a room with a potion just in case. The graphics are very retro, with each screen being a new area, but it's still a fun game!
Escape Shaft - Free online Arcade Puzzler with Aliens!
Created for Ludum Dare 26 is a game that contains a lot of blocks, creatures and a guy with a powerful heavy plasma cutter! This being Escape Shaft, is all about your fight for survival as hordes of aliens have taken over the collapsed mine shaft, of which you must escape from. But it wont be easy, because your ammo is limited. Power up your cutter and take out as many Aliens as possible in one shot before your ammo is depleated! This is a rather small yet fun title, that's playable of an evening right in your Browser.
Heroes Of The Sword - Browser based action hack and slash
Every so often I get the chance to play the games I write about, and for the short time I played Heroes Of The Sword, it was a very enjoyable experience. It's also a free browser based game, against other players online. This involves a lot of hacking and slashing while jumping on certain platforms, yes you can also use throwing weapons as well. You get a quick glimpse of the game through a tutorial and learn that sword attacking is done by mouse cursor slash movement. If you swipe the cursor up, your character slashes up and so on. Standard controls for movement, though space is the better option for jumping.
Shameless Clone - 2P Flash Shoot Em Up
Shameless Clone is a fun little free two player shoot em up developed by asitgames1 that you can play online, even with friends. The sort of game that you really don't mind putting in the time to play, while at work or on the train. Pick your heroes and destroy imaginative worlds. With old school retro graphics and plenty of enemies and bosses, you'll be blasting wave after wave with the extra added dropped bonus's. What's more, there's a small story and the chance to upgrade! Good fun to be had with Shameless!

Over 11k Views! So a special treat - Xevious ( Retro Shoot em up Remake )
When I checked the site today to do another article I was so pleased to see that my site had achieved a milestone of over 11k views. When I first created this website my goal was to give you the latest and best possible Indie / Retro news available on the internet. Although I have a lot of experience in games journalism I never expected my website to generate that many hits in such a short period of time, some of the bigger articles especially kickstarters generate nearly 200 views or more from just that one contribution. However it doesn't all just come down to just me, we have two big helpers on the site at the moment and we are aiming for more soon.
John P Martin ( great news contributor ) and James C ( awesome admin tech guy ) both have really helped push this site even further forward, so once those interviews and reviews start coming in, expect this site to hopefully become even more popular. If you would like to contribute in any way and help out on the website contact me at admin@indieretronews.com. We'd also love for someone to do short game play youtube Talk-Throughs of old retro games!
Now onto the game itself " Xevious "

Thankyou to everyone who views the site, bookmarks the site and gets involved with the discussions posted on IRN. Today we have hit a personal milestone of 5000 views, the site went live on the 6th Nov and that's only last week. To hit 5000 in such a short time is pretty damn awesome. For this reason I'm going to share with you another online flash website for you to relive those golden oldies, the days of the zx Spectrum all playable in your browser.
But before I do that I'd just like to say, I hope you continue to visit the site, get more involved, tell us what you'd like to see more of, basically continue to have fun. Although there are other Indie sites out there, I wanted to do something different to relive the past with Remakes and to look towards a great future of new Indie games. May the year end and begin on a positive one with plenty of new ideas and games to come throughout 2013.
