DOOM RETRO v1.5.0 - .1 - The latest Doom source release

Brad Harding has just released version 1.5.1 of DOOM RETRO, a classic, refined DOOM source port for Windows PC. This version although just a small point release has numerous bug fixes and a number of improvements, such as performance optimizations, a splash screen and more. In regards to 1.5.0 that was the bigger release as it had an almost countless number of tweaks and optimizations, and a set of bloody effects that hopefully didn't come across as too “brutal”.

Into the Gloom - Solving puzzles through a first person horror experience

Shut your windows, close the curtains and turn off the lights as you are about to play a first person puzzle solving horror game from earrgames. Unlike the usual horror experience, "Into the Gloom" features only the creepiest of colours such as black, white and red as you solve a multitude of puzzles throughout this dark and creepy atmospheric game. But it's not just the colours that give it that creep as during your game play you will see things that may just scare you, and that's not only the hanging corpses!

Brutal Doom - New jaw dropping v20 game play

Doom was already a great classic first person game, but that wasn't enough thanks to ‘SGtMarkIV’, he just had to go and turn it into Brutal Doom, the bloodiest mod I've come across. But that's not all, as just recently the creator has shown some brand new game play footage of the upcoming V20 and believe me it's mighty impressive. Also according to the developer Brutal Doom is extremely intense. Everything sounds louder, looks bigger, moves faster, and hits harder. I for one can't wait to see what V20 will contain and getting that all important release date!

Chex Quest Remastered - 64 bit compatible version of a classic FPS

Ah Chex Quest, there's a game that brings back memories of a time when everyone loved a good Doom style first person shooter and Chex Quest was the weirdest of the bunch. Originally created in 1996 by Digital Cafe, Chex Quest was released as a cereal promotion aimed at the much younger generation with hardly any of the adult variety featured in Doom, even though it was based on the Doom engine. Fast forward to today and we have Chex Quest Remastered to play, which is the 64-bit compatible remastered version of that very hit classic.

DOOM on the ZX Spectrum

Doom was never officially released on the ZX Spectrum , nor was it released on any other system of that time. Doom was just way beyond in computer development, but now you can play it in very retro style, thanks to Digital Reality. This looks as if it was officially released on the ZX in all it's first person goodness, it's a damn fine Remake. But don't get too excited, as although you can play the game, it's just a Demo and you'll most likely need an emulator. If you can't get it to work, sit back and listen to the awesome chiptune that comes with this release!

War Z - Updated Colorado map

Although I haven't played WarZ for sometime and especially as this Online Zombie Apocalypse game has been attacked by hackers left right and center. The developers are pushing out a new map update at some point during May 2013. This will be a graphical update to the cities of Colorado and as for any other updates to the map, we will have to wait and see. As for me, I'll probably be playing DayZ Epoch!

WarZ - Dev Diary, 3/1 : Skills

Even though I still play this game, not as much I might add, it's nice to see it's still being developed, especially as it's on Steam... Again! So let's see what's coming up this Tuesday from the Dev Diary, 3/1. This is an online zombie apocalypse game, if you didn't know that already.

Paranautical Activity - Roguelike FPS

In the style of Serious Sam with tons of enemies attacking you in a first person shooter style, comes Paranautical Activity. The graphics are voxel based so it feels like minecraft with guns, but if you want a late evening crazy fast paced game, this could well suit your gaming needs.

Indie Royale - The Chosen Bundle

Another decent bundle from Indie Royale, is The chosen Bundle which contains 5 great indie games chosen by you the gamer. The list features Hard Reset, an explosive FPS with a dark sci-fi, cyberpunk setting, Jolly Rover in a pirate style adventure style, Vertex Dispenser and the recently greenlit (soon on Steam game) DLC Quest. Also included is the bonus game Lair of the Evildoer.
