Two Full Game Steam Key Give Away's from Indie Retro News - Ravaged & Primal Carnage

Got a great treat for you guys today, we have not one but TWO keys to give away!. Indie Retro News has one key for the full version of Ravaged and another Key for Primal Carnage which both work on Steam.  Want to know what the games are about before jumping in for the keys, then check this out...

Carny Death Peddlers - Indie Beat em up

This is our first Beat em up on Indie Retro News and it really does look like a lot of fun and it's called Carny Death Peddlers, love that name!.

Basically the game has 2 stages with two bosses although that's not particularly big for an Indie game the developer only had a small time frame to do so, perhaps it was a competition running at the time?. The artwork looks stunning, it has some rather catchy tunes and just good ol beat em up style gameplay. The story goes that the undead and demonic forces have taken over his amusement park and are building a portal to hell, use all the weapons at your disposal and stop this from happening!

Earth 2160 - Another FREE GAME and it's an epic RTS/STRATEGY

Today on Green Man Gaming they are giving away Earth 2160 for FREE, the free game is so popular that it's overloading the website servers causing the odd lag issue ;). The offer is available till 1200 UTC/GMT November 14th so hurry and grab it!.

Alien Shooter 1 & 2 - Action/Shooter (FREE FULL GAMES)

Good morning world today we have not one but TWO FREE GAMES to show off and it's the excellent shooter series Alien Shooter 1 and 2 by Sigma Team. In both of these games the basic goal is to kill off hordes of alien enemies that head towards you while doing certain objectives to finish off the ultimate end bad guy.  For example in Alien Shooter 1 You are a marine tasked with clearing out an experimental laboratory where teleportation devices have allowed legions of aliens to pour into our world. Whereas in 2 you are an agent sent to the M.A.G.M.A facility where dangerous experiments were beyond their control.

Dizzy & The Snow Queen - Retro Platformer ! ( Fan Game )

Dizzy was the strangest looking character I ever played when I was a kid at the age of 7, a walking egg with red boots and red boxing gloves!. In the original Dizzy it was incredibly difficult to survive and with only 3 lives and no save points it added extra rage to the player. But there was something loveable about the game and it scared me, maybe it was the spiders bobbing up and down or the floor giving way to a dead skeleton at the bottom. It was a platformer/puzzler and you had to use items to solve problems.

It could be dizzy trapped in a Dungeon and on the floor was a leaf, bucket of water and a lighter. By solving this puzzle, Dizzy would have to pick up the leaf, put it at the door, set light to it to burn the door then throw the bucket over to clear the way. The entire game was like this and sometimes no item would be near to each other!. Each screen was a new area and there was nothing worse than hopping from a boulder into the next screen and ending up with Mr Dizzy rolling directly into a Dragon or rat, or even a lake.

Dizzy was created by the Oliver Twins and published by Codemasters in the golden age of the Amstrad, C64 and Spectrum. I remember so well going down to the local news agents and picking up to buy the little tape cases which was only about £2.50 or so. Can you imagine today's games from Codemasters being at that price?!.

Well over the months i'll be posting many different fan made dizzy games, from the people who loved Dizzy so much they made their own levels, music and even brand new characters or more!.

Today we have Dizzy & The Snow Queen created by Noggin the Nog, akka Simon, here's a snippet about the story/game

OpenMW - Morrowind engine replacement : 0.19.0 Released :

I'm sure there are many fans of the epic RPG : Morrowind. I myself played it for hours and hours until someone decided to complete it with a speed run, damn you speedy gamers!. But now we have an engine Replacer which in time will improve the game so much more in many different ways ( as if it needs improving some will say).

Here is a snippet about the Engine Replacer
OpenMW is a community effort to write a new, open source, engine that replaces The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind's original one. The engine uses several middle-ware, most notably, OGRE 3D for graphics rendering and Bullet Physics for collision. It compiles on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux and has native 32 and 64-bit packages.

It does not come with any “content” – namely the art, game data, and other copyrighted material that you need to play the game as designed by Bethesda Softworks. You have to provide this content yourself by installing Morrowind and then configuring OpenMW to use the existing installation.

Millennium 2.2 - Another great Amiga space strategy with two great remakes!

In the game, humanity has colonized the Moon and Mars. However a 20 trillion ton asteroid has collided with Earth, making it uninhabitable. All that is left of humanity is a small, self-sufficient colony on the surface of the Moon, and a race of mutant humans on Mars. As the commander of Moonbase, it is your job to ensure the survival of humankind by exploring the Solar System for other habitable planets and moons, and ultimately re-establish life on Earth. However, the Martian mutants consider themselves the superior race and want Earth for themselves. A war is inevitable. The core of the game is spent in resource management and researching new technologies for space ships and base improvements. A typical game involves manufacturing probes, managing each colony's solar power energy generation, and mining for resources on various planets and their moons.

Amiga Version

The player needs to balance manufacturing output with the available solar power, and many minerals are only available from certain planets or asteroids. Depending on planetary orbits, colony ships and probes can take longer to reach their destinations. As time progresses, colonists will adapt to different atmospheres, and after Earth is terraformed, secede from the player's control, stranding any ships that may be docked. Each game begins with the planets in the same orbital positions, and the types of resource were always the same for each planet. A certain hard to find mineral is always on the same planet, and that planet only. The only break from the resource management simulation comes when the player is under attack by Martians

Millennium 2.2 is the prequel to the also amazing Deuteros, both generally feel the same but of cause differ graphically. Whereas in Deuteros you have drones, in Millennium 2.2 when defending it turns into a Space Simulator which involves what look to be triangles shooting at you in space, think of it as an elite control scheme. In regards to the remake of Millennium 2.2 the Space Action Simulator is replaced by enemy dots i mean err space ships attacking from all sides, which is so much easier than the original.

We have two versions for you to enjoy, the original Amiga version which had been remade using an inbuilt emulator and extra graphical filters. Download, Run Game, Press F12 in game for extra settings.  The other version is a full remake it doesn't have any inbuilt emulators and most of the screens look completely different however not distracting from that Millennium 2.2 feel which made it so amazing.

Myself, I've played the original when it was first released in 1989 and spent many weeks trying to finish it... The Amiga playable pc version which again I completed and the remake again, completed.  I'll say this you will love both the original amiga-pc remake and the full remake.

Tower Toppler/Nebulus - Platformer Retro Remake

One of our readers requested a remake of Nebulus and through some searching we found exactly that, aren't we nice. This old skool platformer is a reimplementation of the old game known as Tower Toppler or Nebulus. It was available for PC, Atari, C64. The author was J.M.Phillips and was published by Hewson software. The player character, a small green creature called Pogo, is on a mission to destroy eight towers that have been built onto the sea, by planting bombs at the towers' peaks. Pogo's progress is hindered by enemies and obstacles, which he has to avoid in order to reach the top of the tower. As you walk and hop around the tower, the entire tower rotates as you move giving the impression of a 3d environment with a sense of depth. Not the easiest of games and has caused a certain amount of fustration. But still worth a look as it was still fun to play.
