Combat Cats - A multiplatform RPG puzzle adventure kickstarter!

Like Cats and want to kick some furry ass, then try Combat Cats by Ryan DeGange. This is a new RPG Puzzle Adventure Kickstarter that's similar to Bejeweled, where you have to connect bricks to break them. You do this by swapping out your current brick with any brick on the board. But unlike Bejeweled these bricks are weapons, and throughout the game you are fighting enemies with the use of combined brick weapons, such as combined missiles will fire missiles or the ultimate weapon, nuke! It really does work in Combat Cats and add in the Snes style graphics and gameplay and it could be a winner. It's also fun for all the family and on a multitude of platforms including the ANDROID, LINUX, MAC, iOS and the PC.

A Hat in Time - A Nintendo 64 style platformer (MAC/PC) Kickstarter

We get a lot of platformers on Indie Retro News, but it's not often we end up with platformers to that of the N64 era, with it's 3D arcade platforming graphical goodness. But here comes A Hat in Time, by Gears for Breakfast, which has already smashed it's Kickstarter goal by a huge margin. If you loved games like Super Mario 64 then this is the game for you. In this game you have the usual gameplay mechanics such as running, jumping and wall jumping, but the developers have even added an umbrella, which when upgraded gives you a range of cool abilities. As her story progresses, she unlocks additional moves like the hookshot, ground pound and pogo upgrades! This is looking to be a high class title with plenty of enemies to fight, platforms to jump and beautiful 3D high colour graphics, just what the game doctor ordered!

Dizzyland - Retro puzzle remake of binaryland

As a Dizzy fan I'm used to the adventure platform version of the originals, though I did play Bubble Dizzy, which was a rather excellent spin off game too. However this is Dizzyland by pj_crozza, that's not related to any of the Dizzy originals but a remake of Binaryland. In this game you have to guide two Dizzies, one male and one female, through top-down vertical levels.  These Dizzy eggs are in love with each other and must be re-united by reaching the exit. However the twist is, you are playing as both characters but moving in opposite directions. So if an enemy or object is in the way, you need to make sure you fire in the right direction, it sounds confusing but it's still fun.

Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet! - A Yarrrrrrrrr Pirate Adventure Kickstarter

Arrr me hearties, a new pirate adventure has just been announced with a kickstarter by Alasdair Beckett-King. Which as you guessed it, contains pirates and aristocrats in a pirate themed adventure! You play as the lovely Nelly Cootalo in an attempt to rescue birds hypnotised by the villainous Baron Widebeard.  With a charming hand-drawn cartoon world, lots of interactive unique characters and plenty of fun puzzles and mysteries, you'll really enjoy this well crafted adventure title.

Medal Wars : The First One - A Cannon Fodder style shooter with a sense of humor (kickstarter/demo)

Here comes Medal Wars, which is a new a project by Bluestargeneral, that's currently going through a kickstarter and on Steam Greenlight. This WW1 title aims to give you that little bit of a nostalgic taste of the old school retro game Cannon Fodder, but far more up to date with tons of cool features.  You take the role of a fresh recruit with your madman partner "buddy" in an isometric shooter game to save the inept Green Army from total destruction. Although it's a ton of fun, it's completely bonkers with a cartoonish design and plenty of humor. A game that should hopefully be a succesful kickstarter, but that's down to you!

Curse Of Enchantia - Core Design's classic adventure Amiga version, is now available for your PC (Remastered/Remade)

TheCompany.PL are at it again with another great Amiga-PC game release, and this time, it's none other than Curse Of Enchantia. This was a great classic adventure, that was not only fun to play, it was also rather challenging. The artwork and animation were also pretty good too! However, there was a down side, and that was that it didn't have a lot of conversation and contained simple action game sequences.  But to be fair, Curse of Enchantia was also Core Design's first attempt in the adventure genre, as they set up to compete with LucasArts and Sierra On-Line. A bold move as LucasArts/Sierra were one of the greatest adventure creators of our time. This game also appeared on the PC, though which version is better is down to personal choice.

Bundle Stars - The Outlaw Bundle, 4 great games for under 1$!

An incredible deal once again from the company of Bundle Stars, as they have just released the Outlaw bundle, which contains 4 great games all for under $1. This is much less than these games deserve, especially as Robin Hood is a top quality Stealth-Based RTS in similarity to Commandoes. But even so, PAM, Pacific-Storm and RIP Trilogy are pretty good too. From Vehicle based, to rts, and an arcade shooter, i'd recommend this bundle to anyone!

JETPACK: Escape from temple - Jetpack powered platformer

Developed by sheigeno is a neat little platformer that's all about a guy that is lost in a temple, of which he must escape from. Luckily at his disposal is a Jetpack that can help him reach places that most would never be able to reach. JETPACK: Escape from temple will give you just enough enjoyment to say "hey this is a pretty good game", but watch out for the enemies and obstacles as they will most likely kill you.  There's plenty more to this small title, but I'll let you play to find out ;)

Angry Farmer - Lets do some PVP RTS trolling! (Kickstarter)

Classed as the first "troll" social farm game with full pvp, comes a game where you compete against another player in a crazy farming experience. This is Angry Farmers, by developers MadSword. But as you can probably tell by the cover shot, this is no ordinary farming game. Farming collides with fast paced combat and dynamic battles, through the use of strategy and skill experimentation. What also makes this game unique, according to the developers, is unlike other "social" games which you play all by yourself and visit your friends only once per day, in Angry Farmer you can play with your buddies all day long. The colourful design really stands out and add that to the simplicity of the game, it could be a lot of fun!

Rogue Legacy - A Rogue-lite Action Platformer with extra bits of kickass!

Rogue Legacy is a new Rogue-"lite" Action Platformer game for the PC,Mac and Linux from developers Cellardoorgames.  This looks to be a kick ass game, as there's so much to do in Rogue Legacy, that it could well be a gaming hit. With a procedurally generated castle, 8 unique classes to choose from, tons of loot, a massive skill tree and a great cartoonish art style, what more could you want? Ok then, here's more! You can even equip runes and customize your character with some very strange results.

Go to Hell Dave - An Adventure title that gives a nod to Monkey Island, but from Hell!

A game that can almost be described as Monkey Island, but based in Hell, is a hilarious adventure title from Falchion Games. This is Go to Hell Dave, a classic point & click adventure with a great list of voiced acted characters, that are full of wit and charm. You'll also have tons of weird and wonderful areas to explore and what's more, with plenty of interaction and classic puzzle solving, it will keep that Monkey Island retro feel flowing. But not to be left out, Go to Hell Dave also has great animation, artwork and real retroish music!

PIXEL RUSH - A rush of pixels in a frantic running game

If you love games where all you do is run and jump, while avoiding obstacles, then this could be the game for you. This is Pixel Rush, which is a new free game by Mark and Alex from Pixel Heart, a newly founded small indie game studio. This is a frantic running game, with very colorful pixelated artwork, plus 6 worlds to run through. All the while avoiding obstacles and collecting power ups. You'll also pleased to know that it's available on both iOS and Android! So what are you waiting for runners? The Pixel Rush is waiting for you to play!

System 3 celebrates with a Platformer reboot of Putty, it's Putty Squad!

More good news today as System 3 has confirmed that it is bringing Putty Squad to the Wii U and 3DS. What's more, they've even mentioned that it will come to the PC and other platforms as well! Putty was first released on the Amiga in 1992 and this aims to be a remake with  improved visuals, enhanced gameplay and the promise of free downloadable levels. They've got a lot to live up to, to beat the original, however looking at the video it looks damn good fun! Lets hope eh?

Mr. Rescue - Throw people out of a window of a burning building, all via this 2D Platformer

What if you could be a fireman, that had a high powered water blaster, and the best way to rescue people was by actually picking them up and throwing them out of any window? Well now you can, with Mr.Rescue. This is an arcade 2d action platform game, developed by Tangram Games, in which you must evacuate people from burning buildings. Your weapon is a powerful water blaster which can take down the enemies which are flame based, but if you reach the end a big bad fire boss awaits! But be warned, you must keep an eye on your blaster as if you empty it, it could well overheat and need extra cooling! A fun game for all the family and free as well, this platformer is certainly worth a try.

Life of Pixel - A game dedicated to the brilliance of classic gaming machines (kickstarter)

Imagine if you could play a character throughout the history of gaming, instead of loading up Emulator after Emulator, that character could be played through all the historic levels, as if it were those good old days. Well now you can, with a game called Life of Pixel. This title which is currently going through a kickstarter, and developed by Super Icon, is a game dedicated to the brilliance of classic gaming machines. Life of Pixel has a large amount of levels, 72 in fact, which are spread over 9 historic gaming machines, such as the Amstrad or Spectrum. As you traverse the levels collecting gems, the game takes on the graphical tone as if you were playing on that very machine, brilliant eh? But there's more!

Ray's The Dead - Control your own zombie army in this kick ass story driven game! (Kickstarter)

Certain games just scream fun, even by a graphical cover page, and I'm glad I looked at this neat looking title. Ray's The Dead is all about the control of a Zombie army through Ray, but unlike other Zombie titles this one has a damn fine cartoonish art style with a slight sense of humor. Thanks to Ragtag Studio, they are developing Ray's The Dead with a blend of action, tactics, puzzles, stealth, adventure all with a lovely story driven experience. You play as the character Ray, who is a newly risen zombie and it's through Ray you control all the other zombies, who can sneak, smash, laugh and groan through a 1980's backdrop, a game that I seriously can't wait to get my hands on!

CorsixTH - Version 0.21 (Open Source Theme Hospital)

Hot News, as the latest Open Source Theme Hospital - CorsixTH version 0.21 has been released. This is the best Open Source Theme Hospital you can play. It was also released for the Android with much success and great feedback. Although this is not an original release by Bullfrog or any main selling company. This is still a damn fine looking version of Theme Hospital. This project aims to re-implement the game engine of Theme Hospital for more modern systems, with the capability of loading assets including graphics and levels from the original game.  Theme Hospital is an all time classic with humor as if it was straight from a carry on film! Design a hospital with all it's room's and objects while saving patients from the many strange diseases such as Bloated Head *POP*!

City Quest - A classic point and click adventure game with a sharp wit (Kickstarter/Demo)

City Quest is a new Adventure title with very retro graphics, to the like of classic Sierra titles such as Police Quest. It also has the charm and death rate as if it were a game of Space Quest! In this Adventure title you can die in so many different ways, which has been lacking in most Adventure games thus far. Something simple such as walking in the road can get you run over, or doing the wrong action towards a puzzle could end up with your body parts torn apart, yet in this game, it will make you laugh every time. City Quest is being developed by StoneMonkeyStudios with an estimated release date of Sept 2013!
