1980's Sega Master Game 'Transbot' remade in HD!

Way back in the mid 1980's Sega released the sci-fi themed Transformers inspired shoot 'em up ' Transbot ' for the Sega Master System, a game in which you play as the CA-214, a starfighter that could transform from a space ship into a large mech robot that could also destroy waves of enemies while also picking up power ups to enable you to use a variety of six weapons. If you've never heard of this game before and want to play it right now, it might be worth your time checking out the latest HD remake which has been released by Kristian Hawkinson!

Project ZX2 Jetboot Joe - A sequel to a very enjoyable ZX Spectrum inspired Shoot em up gets a release

During last year Langford Productions who was behind the Cookie, Pssst, Highway Encounter, The Hunch and even Frank N Stein remakes, released the brilliant ZX Spectrum shoot em up 'Project ZX' for home computers. It was a very unique game as it allowed you the player to blast through lots of ZX Spectrum themed levels as if you were in part playing the original ZX spectrum games themselves. Well fast forward to today and you'll be pleased to know the sequel has been released as Project ZX2 Jetboot Joe.

Sheep it Up - Baaaaah new Gameboy cartridge game goes online for FREE!

It's strange to think that not long ago I found my original Gameboy, which was lost for all those years with only memories to go by. Thankfully after finding it and looking out for more games, I was pleased to hear that games were still being developed for it such as this one ' Sheep it Up ' by LudoScience and Catskull Games. The idea behind this arcade game is rather unusual, climb as high as you can by hanging yourself from flying velctro straps while trying not to fall.

Mini DOOM 2 - First person shooter hit classic transformed into a 2D platformer!

The original hit Doom was developed by id Software way back in 1993 as a first person shooter playing as a space marine fighting hordes of demons and the undead in order to survive. But now Calavera Studio has released a tribute to that famous game, but this time as a 2D action platformer called ' Mini DOOM 2' developed using Game Maker Studio! In this game you must battle your way through multiple stages using classic Doom weapons and power ups against enemies just as you remember them from the original Doom.

Compilation Dizzy Anthology - A bonanza of Amiga Dizzy games playable on PC

Ever since I had an Amstrad CPC 464 and then on to an Amiga, I have always been a massive Dizzy fan, playing pretty much every Dizzy game ever released since 1987 by the famous Oliver Twins. One such Dizzy game I remember so well was Fantastic Dizzy, which appeared on the Amiga, Game Gear, NES, Sega Mega Drive and even via your browser thanks to our good friends the YolkFolk! So why are we mentioning this again? Well as of this week TheCompany.PL have released the Compilation Dizzy PC Anthology, which features all the Dizzy games ever released on the Amiga!

Cannon Fodder - The best War game on the Amiga, play it now PC/MAC Gamers!

No words can describe just how amazing this game is, there isn't that many people on this planet right now that haven't heard of Cannon Fodder. A military game with a sense of humor and a cool music soundtrack to boot!  If you love controlling armies of little men, that you care so much about, while shooting the bad guys in a splattering of blood, then this is the game for you. Furthermore apart from the PC versions which are available to buy on GOG, and the cool Amiga CD32 compilations, you can of course check out the easily launchable Amiga versions on a PC/MAC either via The Company or GamesNostalgia.

Arkanoid Mythology - An Indie game inspired by ball bouncing classic

If you remember Arkanoid; an arcade game first developed by Taito in 1986, with the bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, bouncing an orb back and forth and smashing blocks for a high score. Then you might be interested to know ilovegameswow has released Arkanoid Mythology; an Indie game which is inspired by that classic game but instead is themed on the legends of Ancient Greece.

DamienD's WinUAE Collection - A MASSIVE Amiga haul of playable games using WinUAE Amiga emulator!

DamienD is no stranger to the Amiga community, as through 2017 he had released many Amiga CD to Hard Drive conversions that enabled us to play those classic games without the need for the CD. Games such as Code name Hell Squad, Wasted Dreams, and T-zer0 to name but a few. But this time he has excelled himself, as instead of doing a conversion he has released the DamienD's WinUAE Collection; a massive pack of games through 12 years or more of work, which enables YOU the gamer, to play over 11GB of games already set up through the latest edition of the Amiga emulator WinUAE.

SyntaxBomb - Retro inspired platformer with lots of bombastic levels!

While the Finally Finish Something 2018 Jam is still progressing there is one game that stood out that we just had to mention. Titled as SyntaxBomb and developed by Adam Strange, this game was finally finished for 2018 and features a number of throwbacks to classic games while adding a new twist to the genre. Yes welcome to a game that doesn't just look like Bomb Jack, but there's a bit of Bubble Bobble and even Nebulus thrown in too!

Hunter - Action/Adventure classic that's well worth playing!

Let's go back in time, right back to 1991 when Activsion released 'Hunter' for the Amiga and Atari ST. An action-adventure game that by today's view point would be classed as a Battlefield 4, Grand Theft Auto and Far Cry mix. Expansive, open worlds, a military theme, and the focus on small squads of soldiers or lone heroes. A high grade 3D game with sandbox-type game play, developed by Paul Holmes and music by Martin Walker. If you remember the title, you'll be very pleased to know that Gamesnostalgia's latest edition to its download and play on PC list is Hunter!

Merry Amiga XMas 2017 - A rather short Christmas themed Amiga game

Christmas is fast approaching with about three weeks to go till the big day and as expected the first of many Christmas themed games have made an appearance to celebrate this very festive season. Titled as 'Merry Amiga XMas 2017', this game was developed by Steril707 as a short Amiga OCS game, in which you play as Santa that needs to avoid being knocked off his sledge.

MSXdev'17 - The MSX Competition results are in and the winners are...

Once again it's time to give a shout out to the MSXdev’17 competition as we've recently found out, not only are there a lot of awesome games to play, but the competition is officially over with winners announced! Yes indeed after all this time featuring every game in the competition, we are pleased to say that XSpelunker won in the MSX Classic category, Î§Î™∧∃Χ (Zevimodoki) in the MSX Freestyle category, and XSpelunker and Draconic Throne share the MSX Community Prize!

Contradiction - A recommended retro-styled action indie-game!

Are you bored and looking for something to play that doesn't require an emulator or a download on to a work computer? ;) Then look no further than Games by Michi's latest addition of ' Contradiction ', which is not only free to play but you can play it right now in your browser. This game that takes its inspiration from Contra as an action shooter, puts you in control of Commando Billy Lancer of the Contradiction unit on a mission to take down Dr Hiorishita and his bionic horrors!

Apocryph - Brutal FPS which looks a bit like Painkiller goes early access!

Something for everyone this week as now we look towards a bloody and brutal first person shooter called ' Apocryph ', developed by Bigzur using Unity. If you remember games such as Hexen, Heretic or Painkiller, then you'll know what to expect with this game, as not only is it set in a dark fantasy world of violence, magic, dark rituals and dangers, but you'll be facing horrific monsters, nasty traps, secret passages and the will to survive with a mighty weapon at your disposal!

Juniper Keep Assassins - A retro inspired action platformer that's pretty cool!

Putting aside the homebrew retro games for the moment as we are now looking towards a new action platformer called ' Juniper Keep Assassins ' developed by Crowno for the A Game By Its Cover 2017. This game which I found today, came across as a mix between Switchblade on the Amiga, with a hint of Ninja Gaiden blended with some sort of cute anime look. It features colorful graphics, smooth animations, wall climbing abilities, a great retro inspired chiptune and plenty of enemies to defeat with a variety of moves.

Code name Hell Squad - Amiga CD to HD as a playable sci-fi action adventure!

No sooner had we mentioned DamienD's Amiga CD to Hard Drive conversion of the high quality isometric game 'Wasted Dreams', that another game was also converted over and that was the action adventure ' Code name Hell Squad ', which again was also developed by the same team Digital Dreams Entertainment and released in 2000. Shockingly enough some say this is one of the last ever games released commercially on the system and if it wasn't for these developers contacting the original dev's of this game, when it was known as Hellpigs by Classica Entertainment (link), it probably would've never seen the light of day!

DOS creation contest - DOS based games on IRN! Awesome :)

Call me an old timer but I love talking about the days of DOS, a time when the only thing in front of you other than a computer was a blinking command prompt waiting for you to run a game such as C:\, C:\Dune and Dune.exe. So to hear from high-voltage.cz that they were running a DOS creation contest in which you had to make an executable under MS-DOS 6.22 at a 486DX , made my eyes sparkle like a kid in a candy store.

The Sword of Ianna - A new game launches on MSX2 and ZX Spectrum that will blow you away!

This year has been all out awesome for retro goodness, what with Argus coming out on the C64, unreleased games finding their way to the Amiga, and of course Speccy games doing the rounds. But if you have an MSX2 or yes a ZX Spectrum, you really should prepare yourselves to be amazed, as RetroWorks, the same team behind Vade Retro, The Charm, and Teodoro can't fly, has finally announced the release of one of the most anticipated of games 'The Sword of Ianna'

Monster World RPG - A charming RPG inspired by the Monster World/Wonder Boy series

I seriously can't believe I missed out on this when it was launched in August of this year, as we have only just found out there has been a release of the 'Monster World RPG'; a large fan game developed using RpgMaker2003, and inspired by the 1980's Monster World/Wonder Boy series. Now if you've been following our site for sometime, you would've know that not only was there an enhanced Amiga alpha version of Wonderboy in Monster Land, but Wonderboy in Monster Land was released and Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom is still in development. This latest Wonder Boy goes a way from the platforming style however and goes all out RPG, which for some might be a good thing or a bad thing!

Rod-Land - If you've never played this game, you really should!

Of all the games given The.Company.PL treatment, which means you can easily play this game on a PC and sometimes with a trainer, has to be the fantastic 1990's Arcade Platformer 'Rod-Land'; a game you can pick up and play today and enjoy just as much as you did all those years ago. Now it wasn't always an Arcade game as any Amiga owner would tell you, as this lovely Anime based game also came out on the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, C64, NES, and even the Game Boy, with the Amiga version ranked rather highly indeed!
