When it comes to the MSXdev competition, you are guaranteed at least one very decent game, that I'd recommend to anyone who was looking into getting into the MSXdev scene. Case and point being Lilly's Saga, which was an MSXdev22 winner for Gameplay, Graphics and Sound. Well here we are with a new competition to look forward to, and the first banger for 2024 is Princess Paloma’s Rescue for the MSX2. A very solid action platform game by InfiniteMSX, that follows the timeless tale of a hero on a quest to rescue a princess.
Bar War - A Tapper clone for your Amstrad CPC by Fitosoft
We've featured the 1983 game of 'Tapper' a number of times now, as not only did it appear as a brilliant Arcade to Amiga conversion by Old_Bob, but it also appeared on the ZX Spectrum as a tapper clone by the name of 'Cobra Laser'. Well as a new Tapper update and not related to the Amiga or the ZX Spectrum. We've been told by both Saberman and XeNoMoRPH, that Fitosoft has released the Amstrad CPC Tapper clone of 'Bar War'. A game in which the creator has said "is another programming exercise using the 8BP library to handle sprites."
A Classic Edition of Magicland Dizzy for the ZX Spectrum by Dr. Titus!
Get ready for many hours worth of retro fun, especially if you are a ZX Spectrum owner or Dizzy fan, as we've recently been informed by Andrew of Yolkfolk.com, of a highly improved Dizzy game for the ZX Spectrum called 'Magicland Dizzy'. As in the words of YolkFolk "Dr. Titus has released a Classic Edition of Magicland Dizzy for the Spectrum. Includes various tweaks, major bug fixes, added music track and an "Added Easter egg, aswell as something else". Kazik in the Underworld of Tema - Kazik and the Ghosts enhanced comes to the C64
We have just found out through Saberman that there has been a new release of a game called 'Kazik in the Underworld of Tema'. Although details are sparse about the game, all we can tell is not only does it look like Roland on the Ropes, but it seems to be an enhanced version of a game known as KAZIK AND THE GHOSTS. A game which was released for the COMMODORE 16 and PLUS/4 in 1986. Although I was unsure what to write up about this one, thankfully the video provided by Saberman made the game worth writing up.
EL BIGOTUDO - This new game release looks stunning for the ZX Spectrum 128k!
We've just been told through our ZX Spectrum Facebook group, that authors Romancha, Jerri, MmcM, Shadow Maker and Oscar Martin Garcia have released the stunning looking ZX Spectrum 128k game of 'EL BIGOTUDO'. A game in which other sites such as planetsinclair, have said it mixes it up with a bit of Dan Dare and Alienation as a serious candidate for Game of the year 2024. Mighty Street Fighter - Upcoming 'Street Fighter' for the Amstrad 128k gets a final trailer

ACULA the direct sequel to FRANK N. STEIN by Colin Stewart is now available for the ZX Spectrum! A game that features nails, bats, horror cats, devil dogs, ice, slime, vertical walls, man eating pumpkins, spiders, mice, perilous platforms, lobsters, crocodile heads, snakes, piranhas and even evil ducks! Moon Patrol 500 - 1980's Arcade classic as an Amiga conversion by JOTD gets a new OCS , ECS, and enhanced AGA beta build!
We've recently found out through the EAB forums, that the previously announced Arcade to Amiga conversion of Irem's classic 1982 scrolling shooter of 'Moon Patrol' by both JOTD and no9(music), has now been updated with an AGA enhanced, ECS and OCS beta build for you to try! Basically for those of you who were complaining about just AGA, can now try lower end builds of the game all created as a transcode of Moon Patrol arcade using assembler. Gridlock - A recommended game by Megastyle for your Commodore 64
Night Mission Pinball Extended wasn't the only game to grace our Commodore 64 screens this weekend, as looking through my emails earlier today, I saw that Megastyle had released the C64 sliding puzzle styled game of Gridlock. A game in which the object of each emergency call is to get your ambulance to the exit road by moving all the vehicles vertically or horizontally around the play area. Sound like your sort of game? Good! Because not only is it getting good player feedback, but we've got some more info and footage of 'Gridlock' below.
Night Mission Pinball Extended - 1983 pinball game by Sublogic gets an overhaul on the C64 by Extend!
Bit of a late story this one, but well worth a mention! As we've just found out looking through the CSdb website, that Extend has released an overhauled Commodore 64 version of the 1982/3 game Night Mission Pinball. A game that was originally released for the Apple II, Atari 8-bit, IBM PC and yes even the Commodore 64. To coincide with this news, we've got some footage of the game showing the new loader, graphics and so much more!
Popeye VBXE - An arcade port, but this time for the Atari XL/XE with VBXE! (RC1)
Now here's a blast from the past, as we've just been informed by Liqmatrix, that the classic Arcade game of 'Popeye', has been released as an RC1 build for the Atari XL/XE with a VBXE as an Arcade conversion by woj. In a similar vein to Donkey Kong albeit not as good, you play as Popeye and must collect hearts, musical notes and the letters H-E-L-P that the lovable character Olive drops from the top of the screen. But be warned, just like the cartoon, Brutus will get in your way with the help of the bad Sea Hag!

When Knights of Bytes released Sam's Journey for the Commodore 64 back in 2017 it was a huge hit! Indie Retro News awarded Sam's Journey game of the year 2017 as this game really surpassed all our expectations, delivering us a huge epic adventure that really pushed the limitations of the C64. Well it's the NES's turn to be a part of this incredible gaming experience, as we have been informed by Knights of Bytes, that this amazing game originally for the C64, is now available for the NES!
