Double Ball - A Public Domain game from 1992 has been preserved by the Polish Amiga Floppy Preservation Group

If you remember those great classics such as Arkanoid or even Breakout you might be in for a treat! As we've recently been contacted by Saberman, that the Polish Amiga Floppy Preservation Group has preserved and provided the Arkanoid clone of 'Double Ball': A Public Domain game that was originally developed by Blue Data, coded by Andrzej Radecki (Mr. Gary / Blue Data), and first appeared via the public domain archive in 1992. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also provided some gameplay footage! Although do be aware the music is far from enjoyable ;)

Basilisk of Roko 2 - An action platformer for your ZX Spectrum by retrosotano

Saberman has recently contacted us through Facebook, that retrosotano has released the sequel of 'Basilisk of Roko 2' for the ZX Spectrum. An action shooter in which playing as Nachete “El Intern” and his powerful laser, must put a stop to an evil space thing and his crazed robots. To coincide with this news, we've also got some gameplay footage showing some of the levels, enemies, and traps you'll come across in the game.

TX-1696 - A nod to Shoot 'em up classics for your ZX Spectrum Next!

Yet another Shoot 'em up to grace our home computers, is the awesome looking side scrolling Shoot 'em up of TX-1696 by Lucky Red Fish for the ZX Spectrum NEXT. A game that is a nod to classic retro games such as R-Type and Project-X, to modern inspirations such as the fabulous Super Hydorah. While the game is available to purchase at the link below, for those of you are unsure if it is that good, then check out the feedback such as "Don’t purchase this on a ‘skool night’. I purchased this on a Thursday night and could barely work on Friday" and "The game is excellent and a nice nod to the past, with hints of Xenon2: Megablast".

Mischief Castle - A very enjoyable NES platformer by kn56k, gets an update!

We've recently been informed through Facebook, that kn56k has released an update to the previously released NES game of ' Mischief Castle '; a game that was first released via the itch.io Selects Spring Bundle 2024. As for why this one might be worth playing on your NES. It features simultaneous two-player cooperative gameplay, hidden collectible items, five unique levels and Bosses, varied enemies, auto-Saving after each level, 8 music tracks, and as noted by the developer "is built to play like your classic NES game. Straightforward pick-up and play gameplay".

Coloco - A new Amstrad CPC game by Tuxedo Games featuring The Mojon Twins Mk1 Engine

It's a Friday and you know what that means? NEW GAMES for the weekend! Yes indeed thanks to a double heads up from both Saberman and Xenomorph, we've been told that the previously released ZX Spectrum game of 'Coloco' by Tuxedo Games, is now available for the Amstrad CPC! This new title developed using the Mojon Twins Mk1 Engine, is a game in which you are on a mission to rescue those that have been stranded, as their second hand rockets have crashed in the most unpleasant of places.

Knightmare - The 1980's hit TV show, is coming to the ZX Spectrum as a super new version by Sausageware Games

Great news if you remember watching the 1980s TV show Knightmare, as we've just been informed through Twitter, that the upcoming ZX Spectrum version by Sausageware Games, will be available to purchase at some point soon through BitmapSoft. A much deserved and more enjoyable Knightmare inspiration for the ZX Spectrum, which in itself is based around a TV show in which children had to not only guide a friend wearing a "Helmet of Justice" – a headpiece that blocks their field of vision. But this had to be done through a very creepy medieval environment, using their wits to overcome puzzles, obstacles and the unusual characters they meet along the journey. 

Chroma Grid - 1st place winner at the Sommarhack 2024 party for the Atari ST!

Another heads up and surprisingly it's an Atari ST news story, as thanks to a good friend contacting us earlier today, we have been told that T.O.Y.S has made available their latest puzzle game of Chroma Grid. An Atari STE game which was presented by T.O.Y.S. at the Sommarhack 2024 party, and coming 1st place in the wild demo competition! To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest footage of the game which as ever can be viewed below.

RandomPac - A great tribute to Pac-Man, an arcade game first released by Namco in 1980

More great news this week as looking through the itch io website, we've found out that LC-Games has released the latest game of RandomPac for the Commodore 64. A game that isn't just a tribute to Pac-Man, an arcade game released by Namco in 1980. But this version of the game has procedurally generated mazes and even bonus rounds to enjoy. To coincide with this news, there's some footage of the game that can be watched below.

PETSCII Wizard of Wor - A classic Arcade game in PETSCII for the Commodore Plus/4, C64 and CBM PET

Commodore owners are going to love this news story that we've just come across on Facebook.. As if you remember playing and hopefully enjoying the 1980's Arcade game of Wizard of Wor, which also appeared on the Atari 8-bit, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Bally Astrocade and C64. Then you'll be pleased to know that KornΓ©l Kolma together with Csabo, has released PETSCII Wizard of Wor for the Commodore Plus/4 as well as the Commodore 64 and CBM PET! 

ECLIPTIC - A new Commodore Amiga game tease update from bwldrbast!

Galaga(beta) by JOTD wasn't the only game to grace our Commodore Amiga screens today, as I've been informed via our good friend Saber, that bwldrbst has released an updated demo of the work in progress turn based tactical combat and role playing game of 'ECLIPTIC'. A game in which you play as a number of robots that must repair, clear out aliens, and deal with security systems on the space ship ECLIPTIC. To coincide with this news, we've also got some new footage of the game also provided by Saberman.

Colin The Cleaner TURBO EDITION - A bug fixed and faster version of IJK Software Ltd's 1987 speccy game

The sun is shining and it's feeling rather warm, so how could it possibly get any better? Well how about this new(ish) game for the ZX Spectrum, called 'Colin The Cleaner TURBO EDITION' by retrotechtive. A 100% assembly version of the 1987 classic, completely rewritten using the BASIC original as a reference! A new version of the game which is faster and hopefully....With less bugs a more enjoyable experience to play! To coincide with this news, we've got some information about the game as well as some gameplay footage from Saberman.

Basilisk of Roko - A new platformer for your ZX Spectrum by retrosotano

Looking for a new game for your ZX Spectrum? Well Saberman gave me the heads up earlier today, that retrosotano had released the new ZX Spectrum game of Basilisk of Roko. A game in which you play as Nachete “El Intern”, and must put a stop to an evil artificial intelligence called “Rocco's Basilisk” who wants to make the human race its slaves. To coincide with this news, we've got a bit more info about the game as well as a gameplay video.

Flood - Rescue people trapped by the flood in this new ZX Spectrum 48k game by Jonathan Cauldwell

Thanks to another heads up by Saberman who posted a gameplay video earlier today, he has told us that Jonathan Cauldwell has released the ZX Spectrum 48k game of Flood! A game in which you have to pilot your helicopter, take out the Aliens, and rescue people that have been stranded due to an ever increasing flood. To coincide with this news, we've got some more information about the game, as well as the gameplay video provided below.

Galaga - Arcade classic is still coming to the Commodore Amiga as a conversion by JOTD

Remember when we posted about the 1981 Arcade classic of ' Galaga ' was coming to the Atari XL/XE and Atari 5200 as a high quality Arcade port by Gimmee99? Well you'll be happy to learn that if you have a Commodore Amiga however, this game originally developed and published by Namco Japan and by Midway in North America in 1981, is also coming to the Amiga thanks to the hard work of JOTD! As in his words for the latest video, "Galaga is almost playable, with gfx & game glitches: note: this is much smoother because of emulation. Final result needs optimizing and will probably run at 25Hz"

Tony Montezuma's Gold - A fabulous monochrome Platformer for the Amiga, AtariXL & Commodore 64

Thanks to Monochrome Productions letting us know, we have been told that if you were hoping to play their newest of creations for the Amiga, Atari XL and C64 called 'Tony Montezuma's Gold'. Then at some point from this article going live, you'll be able to play this top quality platformer that will also be premiered during Pixel Heaven 2024. A game that looks like it could be right at home on a classic Macintosh with monochrome graphics! As ever, Saberman has provided some videos which gives us a better look at the game by Vladimir Jankovic, Dudek, Maciej MaΕ‚ecki, Adam Gilmore, and Sami "Mutetus" Juntunen.

Transversion - Ocean Software's ZX Spectrum fast paced puzzler appears on the Amstrad CPC

While we wait for the big announcement of a new game that's hopefully going to be released on the Amiga, Atari XL and C64 this weekend. The first game that needs to be mentioned on Indie Retro News, is Typhon's new Amstrad CPC conversion of Transversion. A game in which the creator says, " is not only a port of the 1983 Solar-Fox/Gridrunner game originally for the Speccy, but it's using the CPCTelera library, and includes a few of the graphical tweaks from the awesome versions by Denis Grachev". To coincide with this news, Xenomorph has provided a video showing the game in action.

Aliens Neoplasma II - The sequel to an amazing game for the ZX Spectrum 128K and ZX Spectrum Next!

It wasn't long ago now that we had the pleasure of playing the awesome game 'Aliens NeoPlasma ' on the Spectrum which was developed by Sanchez crew (Russian Federation); a horror platformer as their own take on the Aliens movie theme complete with friendly face-huggers. Well fast forward to this month however and as a great heads up by β„π• π•¨π•π•’π•Ÿπ••π•€ β„π•–π•§π•šπ•–π•¨π•€@Tezmondo74. We've been told this great game has got a sequel for the ZX Spectrum 128k and ZX Spectrum Next called "Aliens Neoplasma II".

Knightmare - If you remember the 1980's hit TV show, you may just like this upcoming ZX Spectrum version!

As a Kid I used to love watching the 1980s TV show Knightmare, a show in which children had to not only guide a friend wearing a "Helmet of Justice" – a headpiece that blocks their field of vision. But this had to be done through a very creepy medieval environment, using their wits to overcome puzzles, obstacles and the unusual characters they meet along the journey. Well this TV show that spawned a number of computer games such as those released on the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum, will hopefully be getting a much deserved and more enjoyable Knightmare inspiration for the ZX Spectrum. A new version of the game by Sausageware Games with publishing by BitmapSoft.

Galastrad - GALAGA-Like SHMUP Game for the Amstrad CPC and GX4000!


Arcade Shooters we just love 'em! From Galaga to 1942, to Xenon and even Swiv. But there's one Shoot 'em up that caught our eye this month, and that's the latest release of ' Galastrad ' for the Amstrad CPC and GX4000. As in the words of the website "GAME RELEASE AVAILABLE. GALAGA-Like SHMUP Game for the Amstrad CPC 464 / 664 / 6128 and GX4000, old-school design for memories". To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided us with a video showing some of the waves of enemies found in the game.

Mikie - An Arcade classic appears on the Atari XL/XE by Krzysztof "Vega" GΓ³ra and team

The awesome news just keeps on coming! As we've recently been contacted by a good friend of ours through Facebook, that the brilliant Arcade game of 'Mikie' by Konami, with 8bit versions by Imagine. Has been ported over the Atari XL/XE by Krzysztof "Vega" GΓ³ra, MichaΕ‚ "Miker" Szpilowski, and Krzysztof "Kaz" Ziembik. A game in which playing as Mikie, you must complete a secret message in all levels of the game, to be delivered to your girlfriend who is in the playground.
