Another year is fast coming to a close and Christmas is just days away with kids and adults opening up their presents and perhaps loading up the odd retro game or two in a fit of nostalgia. For myself as a retro gamer it's been a very positive year that has been filled with some of the best games for some time with not just the Amiga, but also the Amstrad, BBC Micro, C64, Plus/4 and ZX Spectrum as the highlights on our website. But as ever without you all coming to the website this place would not be where it is today. It's the developers, the reviewers, the viewers and everyone who visits here day after day that makes this place so much more special. As such I'd like to say a huge thank to you all with a BIG Merry Christmas and have an AWESOME New Year!

Thank you to everyone who keeps coming back to Indie Retro News!
It's incredible to think that Indie Retro News was started way back in 2011/12, as an idea to bring as many decent retro games as possible to a wider audience, instead of just forums. I mean heck I was even banned a few times for spamming almost every new game. Thankfully time has progressed since then, and not only has Indie Retro News been a global influence in the retro scene, but we've spoken to so many people online and shared gaming memories with our amazing readers, it's been a pleasure to be a part of this community even with its downer moments.
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Indie Retro News
Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible indie games, new homebrews, and lots of retro specials that have amazed even our own writers! From amazing C64 games such as Oyup!, Granny's Teeth 2020, BoxyMoxy, MW Ultra, Alien 8, Fix It Felix Jr and Outrage, to mind blowing games on the Amiga such as Duckstroma, Raid Over Moscow, and Wiz! I mean seriously with the amount of writing done this year, it's been an exhausting yet enjoyable experience.
An Indie Retro News special event! - C64 Game Awards 2020
Thank you to all of our readers of Indie Retro News!
I have been writing on my website Indie Retro News going back as far as 2011 when we hit our first milestone of 5000 views, and nowhere near the mind blowing amount we've hit today, which doesn't include FB or Twitter. Not only do I come across some great games, but we feature so many that lots of you who visit our site, regard us as the go to place for the latest updates for pretty much every retro gaming system out there (Apart from the Oric, which is coming soon).
Indie Retro News went to PLAY Expo Margate 2020!
During last weekend Indie Retro News had the pleasure of going to the awesome retrogaming convention of ' PLAY Expo Margate ', which lasted from the 21st to the 23rd of Feb 2020. It was an event that was to have a fair slice of gaming and merchandise stalls, cosplay, retro gaming hardware with games to play, modern gaming, competitions, arcade machines and much more. It was an event that we have been eagerly awaiting to go to all these months past, and we can very much say it was AWESOME!
Thank you to all of our readers of Indie Retro News!
As many of you know in relation to the highs and lows of Indie Retro News, life has been very difficult this year, with my own personal health to deal with and the concern over a family member who is still waiting in fear of the results of the hospital visit. Although I don't know what's going to happen yet, I just wanted to say a heart felt thank you to everyone who has responded and I can tell that so many of you really care a lot. Your messages have been taken on board and although I will be doing write ups once again, I will be taking things slowly, putting aside the high demands and ignoring those who are just out to cause grief. Thank you everyone, you have no idea how grateful I am to you all.
.... And back to game writing!
The highs and lows of Indie Retro News
I've been thinking a lot about this and whether I should write an article about it or not, but today I decided enough is enough and something has to be said. Yes Indie Retro News has lots of views, yes I've spoken to some really nice people, yes we've got some great reviewers, and yes I've announced a lot of great games but this does all come at a cost to my own health. One person said to me some time ago that "writing is a thankless task". Well yes I kinda agree there, and it mainly comes down to certain people and how they talk down to you. Basically talking to you like an angry strict parent who just found out their kid spelt one word wrong in a 50 page essay that has taken days upon days of no sleep to get done.
Indie Retro News featured in Top 20 Retro Gaming Blogs 2019!
What a great start to Wednesday, as we were recently contacted by MrKortingscode in Admiration of Indie Retro News, that we have been voted in the Top 20 of Retro Gaming Blogs to follow in 2019. Yes indeed another award is under our belt, but as ever apart from all the retro games we feature from all over the world, the biggest part of that isn't just our writers but also you the reader who keeps coming back again and again! As the website owner kindly puts it " At indieretronews.com, you can find some of the most interesting discussions about retro stuff that will keep you hooked ".

Talk soon everyone, and I hope you have a great weekend full of retro games...
