Facebook Indie Retro News Account Hacked
You may have noticed the lack of updates to Facebook these last few days, that is because over the weekend our Facebook account was hacked. Thankfully there doesn't look to be any damage as such to the profile even with two step authorisation, but currently Facebook is playing hard ball and making it even more difficult to get this resolved as quick as possible. So expect a few more days down time via Facebook but no changes elsewhere. Thank you - Admin

Due to a number of emails and site comments relating to us taking down the RSS Feed as a security measure against article theft, I have re-enabled it. However unlike before which showed the full post, only the text up to the first line break will be shown to encourage people to still visit the site. If you don't remember our RSS Feed the link can be found ( Here ) :-)
Indie Retro News went to PLAY Expo Margate 2016!
During this weekend Indie Retro News had the pleasure of going to the awesome retrogaming convention of ' PLAY Expo Margate ', which lasted from the 23rd to the 24th of July 2016. It was an event that was to have a fair slice of gaming and merchandise stalls, cosplay, retro gaming hardware with games to play, modern gaming, competitions, arcade machines and much more. It was an event that we have been eagerly awaiting to go to all these months past, and finally after going we can show you if it was worth another trip down memory lane. ( Warning Pic Heavy )

RGDS Podcast interviews Indie Retro News!
Something completely different today and one I was trying to keep a secret until the time was right, but I've been interviewed by the excellent RGDS Podcast about Indie Retro News! Oh yes indeed after many months of discussion about it actually happening, the time is now for you to listen in, about how Indie Retro News came to be, how I became a retro gamer, the systems I've owned including an Amstrad and an Amiga, a bit about my family, some of the writers on Indie Retro News AND hopefully a personal thank you to all of YOU the readers. I was a little bit nervous, but overall it was a great experience and one, I'd happily do again on the RGDS Podcast!

Thank you everyone from Indie Retro News
After the recent ask for Donations as basically we needed help ( We don't do adverts! ), we had a lot of support from you the readers. In actual fact I was overwhelmed by how many people stepped forward and supported us, not only did it make me proud to be a big part of the retro community and all that it provides, but you have given me further incentive to push Indie Retro News into a much better future. Because of some of you wish to remain private, I'll just say a huge thank you, to all of you, to everyone of you that keeps coming back. From the bottom of my heart, I am extremely grateful and will continue to write about the Amstrad, Amiga, C64, ZX Spectrum and more!
Indie Retro News teams up with Xyphoe!
As if this year couldn't get any better, but after previously teaming up with Retro Asylum and then Novabug, we are now teaming up with Xyphoe! If you've never heard of Xyphoe before, his videos are very similar to Novabug's, in the fact that he does retro gaming longplays, reviews and more, all with clear to understand vocabulary and enjoyable enough to keep coming back for more. In fact as a first teaser before he gets the hang of our little editor, here's a video to keep you occupied ' [ARCADE / MAME] Hunchback - Longplay & Review '.
Indie Retro News teams up with - Retro Asylum!
Well I've had my time off, I've taken my caffeine pills for a boost in performance, and now it's back to writing. So to begin with as I hinted before after all your positive comments, Indie Retro News is teaming up with the number 1 Retro Podcast ' Retro Asylum '. Oh yes indeed, we will now have a special place in their news section, as well as being mentioned on the podcast and at certain gaming events. I mean heck, you may even hear my awful voice on the radio banging on about our site and you IRN awesome readers! -For more information see the classy Retro Asylum Website - Here
Indie Retro News RSS Feed - Taken down for the time being
Please note that during this week it has come to our attention that a number of sites have been stealing our write ups and claiming them as their own, while redirecting the links to less than safe products. It turned out however, it wasn't through the main site but through our RSS feed, pretty much word for word including pictures appeared elsewhere. This was most likely a BOT, but at the time we can't be too sure. Until such time this can be avoided or through an IP ban, the RSS feed will remain down. Can all readers please use www.indieretronews.com, and await more awesome articles after I'm back from seeing the family. Thank you :)
Indie Retro News & RGDS Podcast Amiga DOS Special!
I'm sure many of you will agree with me, but Aaron White is becoming a bit of a legend in the Amiga scene. He has done countless albums now going right back to 2014. From C64 remixes and 80's tracks, to Amiga PDs and even a more recent Sega Master System Hits Vol 1. But for me although these are mighty fine releases, I always like to challenge people to push their skills to the limit. So I said to him, " Can you convert PC MS-DOS tracks to the Amiga and if so, can you convert these? " Sure enough after some teasing over the weekend, here we have ' The Indie Retro News and RGDS Podcast Amiga DOS Special ' from Aaron White of RGDS Podcast. A small part 1 album, with remixed game soundtracks such as One Must Fall, Aladdin, Doom, Empire Civil War and The Lion King.
26,964,623 Views - A new milestone for Indie Retro News!
Every so often I like to check the total view count to see how we are doing, and today I was overjoyed to see that we have hit a massive 26,964,623 in total views since we began over three years ago. That's over Twenty-Six Million views, which for an Indie and Retro website is pretty impressive and it's all thanks to you the reader and other friendly retro sites that keeps coming back and also spreading our news far and wide. In fact our site is actually global as we get readers from the USA, UK, Canada, China, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, Australia, Greece and even Sweden, with a vast majority coming from the USA! So again all I can say is a massive thank you and also to spread the news, we are here and here to stay :)
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM INDIE RETRO NEWS.
Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible indie games, new homebrews, and lots of lost and found retro specials that have amazed even our own writers. From C64 games such as Caren and the Tangled Tentacles, Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade, Sams Journey and Commando Arcade SE, to the Amiga specials such as Blaze, Putty Squad and Smarty & The Nasty Gluttons. But that's not all we've had to enjoy, as we've had month after month of Amiga CD32 conversions thanks to Earok(+team), Amiga - PC releases from our good friends The Company.PL and new ZX Spectrum games such a Knightmare 2 ZX, Rabbit in Wonderland and the massive high quality Castlevania Spectral Interlude!
Indie Retro News and RGDS Podcast Amiga Album Special!
As you well know I am a huge fan of the C64 to Amiga conversion tracks done by Aaron White of RGDS Podcast. Month after month he has done his own flavoured remixes and full conversions from classics that are well known in the retro gaming scene such as Bruce Lee, Paper Boy, Flimbo's Quest, Shinobi, Pacland and New Zealand Story. He has even does his own sampled mixes of classic 90's dance tracks. But from this I sent him a challenge, I wanted him to do an Indie Retro News special, a special that is full of my personal choices that not only sound upbeat on the C64 but could almost be worthy of being played through a hi-fi system. But that's not all, I wanted to see if he could remix a PC cracktro tune and sure enough, he has gone beyond my expectations and fulfilled my every request.

Aaron White has just released possibly one of the best specials to date, and it's a special that isn't just based on retro gaming such as the Amiga or the C64, but Cartoons many of us remember when we were youngsters glued to the TV with a joyful glee. This is the 'Aaron White & Indie Retro News Hi-Tec Software Amiga Chiptune Special', featuring many of the greatest C64/Cartoon Warner Bro's tunes released by HiTEC, all mixed up for the Amiga user!
Aaron White & Indie Retro News - Dizzy Album Amiga Special!
As many of you know when it comes to Dizzy, that little white egg has a special place on this site. We have featured art work, collections and fan based games, but what we have for you today isn't just Dizzy, but a collaboration of Aaron White and ourselves Indie Retro News for the latest Dizzy C64 to Amiga chiptune album! That's right retro gamers after a nice little chat, Aaron White has converted some of the C64 Dizzy beats over to the Amiga including Bubble Dizzy, Dizzy Down the Rapids, Fast Food Dizzy, Magic Land Dizzy and Treasure Island Dizzy.
PLAY Margate - Retro returns to Margate and we've been! (+Photos!)
While the weather is hot and the sun is shining with nearly everyone down at the beach, we decided to put all that aside and go to a gaming convention by the name of 'PLAY Margate', which is at the Winter Gardens all this weekend. You probably read of our disappointment of GEEK earlier this year with all those yukky modern systems, but PLAY Margate is what GEEK used to be! Oodles of retro hardware and games going back in time as far as possible. From the Amstrad to the C64, from the Intellivision to the Dreamcast and Neo-Geo, this was a gaming convention we had to be a part of.
Donation from Marek Panczyk
More awesome games to come today and even a possible Amiga Kickstarter, but before that we'd like to say a huge thank you to Marek Panczyk who sent us a donation yesterday all the way from Poland! I'm so grateful to all of you, all around the world helping me with server hosting costs and to keep this site growing to be even better year in year out. So a BIG thanks once again and to all of our readers from Indie Retro News.
Donation from Dean Woodyatt
Good morning retro gamers, a very busy day coming up with lots of awesome games! But before we get to that, a huge thank you to a Mr Dean Woodyatt who sent us a donation this week. It's because of donations like that, it really helps us keep the site going with the server hosting upkeep. It also means a lot to us knowing that this site is loved by many. However an apology is needed as I did not update the site this weekend because after many years of writing I wanted to spend time with the family, but today it's time to write! Thanks once again and to all of our readers from Indie Retro News.
