Hibernaculum - This sci-fi horror dungeon crawler looks bloody awesome!

I've always been a fan of the dungeon crawler, there's something to be said about moving through a dark underground passage, looking for loot, avoiding traps and fighting the many beasts that lurk within. In actual fact I'm more inclined to play an old retro first person grid based crawler than any top down modern one that's released today. And on that note, here's a dungeon crawler you should be keeping an eye on, and it's Wormwood Studios in development sci-fi horror dungeon crawler of Hibernaculum.

Voodoo Detective - A new adventure inspired by the classics releases today (PC/Android/iOS)

I think it's about time we put those 8bit classics aside and look towards an Adventure game that may excite those who played that fantastic game 'Monkey Island' or even the classic 'Kings Quest'. As we've recently been informed through our email, that Short Sleeve humorous point and click adventure game of 'Voodoo Detective ' will be available today through Epic, Steam, Android and iOS. A game that draws its inspiration from the classics such as Monkey Island  and takes players on an adventure with many twists and turns.

Millie and Mollie - Catrap inspired C64 game now available for Android, iOS and Windows

Late last year we announced on Indie Retro News that Carleton Handley and Saul Cross was working on a rather lovely game for the C64 called ' Millie and Mollie '; a game which is not only inspired by the late 80's to early 90's game of Catrap, but also features moveable blocks, the swapping of characters to solve puzzles, and the use of time rewinding mechanics to undo your own mistakes. Well after finally appearing on the C64 not long ago, the team behind Millie and Mollie were pleased to announce this month the game had also been released for both Android, iOS and Windows based systems.

Starsceptre - High grade shoot em up hits the Apple Store

There are some seriously good shoot em ups out there, games such as Gradius, Super Aleste, R-Type, and Raiden to name but a few. But finding a decent shoot em up for an Android or iOS based device isn't as easy. Thankfully Richard Morgan was on hand to help, as he has released 'Starsceptre'; a pixelated shoot em up using touch controls to shoot your way through the game, testing your nerves and reactions to their limits.

The Beast Of Torrack Moor - 30th Anniversary Edition - Coming this November!

Throughout the last few years we've featured a number of text based adventures, games such as the upcoming unnamed Pirate themed C64 adventure, The Pawn Remastered, The Marlo Files Remastered Edition, and Goblin Towers to name but a few. But there's another game that's due to be released in November, and that is The Beast Of Torrack Moor - 30th Anniversary Edition; a remastered version of a game released in 1988, by Linda Doughty for the ZX Spectrum

Mushroom Heroes - Puzzle platformer inspired by classics like Lost Vikings!

Ask any Amiga or SNES owner if they've ever played the 90's game The Lost Vikings, and they'd probably tell you about the tale of three separate Vikings each with varying abilities, that had to work together to finish multiple puzzling levels to find their way back home. It was a rather fun game for its time that also appeared on other systems. And it is that game that is also an inspiration behind this game ' Mushroom Heroes ', which is not only available for the PC but Android and iOS too!

Skool Daze Re-Schooled - Reviewed by florinthedwarf!

Skool Daze is back! One of the Speccy greats has finally been given a new lease of life on Android and iOS. That's totally whack! Rad! Cool! Top! Do kids still talk like that? No? I'd better stop then. As you were. I don't know a single person who didn't like Skool Daze on the Spectrum so when I heard a remake was happening, I knew it had to be a damn fine version for die hard fans like myself to appreciate this new take on a Speccy classic. Let's see how it fairs, shall we?

Skool Daze - A retro childhood classic remade could be coming to Mobile and Tablets this week! [UPDATE]

A fantastic news story has just reached our inbox as Alternative Software's upcoming Skool Daze remake may be released this week on mobile and tablets. It's incredible to think that Skool Daze was first released way back in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and C64 created by David Reidy. It was the only game of its time, that gave you the experience of being at school, while also being an unruly child trying to steal a report card from the headmaster's safe before your parents end up seeing it.

After Touch Soccer - A Kick Off fan remake

There are a few games from the days of Amiga and ST that really stood out. What we'd now call Killer Apps. For many Shadow of the beast is what sold Amigas. Something to put on in a shop window or show your mates when they came round. A beautiful yet flawed game. but for social gaming, the one EVERYONE had be it legit or copied, was Kick off (and later, KO2.) Even if you had no love for real world footie, Kick Off had universal appeal. It was 16-bit's killer app. So it's no surprise that someone would make a fan remake of it today. Here is AfterTouch Soccer.

Atari has hinted that this is going to be as authentic as possible to the original games, with the depth of gameplay and unique graphical style of Chris Sawyer’s original best-selling RollerCoaster Tycoon® series.

Thrust 30 - Hayes Maker Games celebrates the 30th anniversary of Jeremy Smith's "Thrust"

I'm sure many retro gamers will remember Thrust, which was first published by Firebird Software Ltd and released in 1986. It also originally came on a multitude of systems including the Atari 2600, Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit, Atari ST, BBC Micro, Commodore 16, Plus/4, Commodore 64, Electron, Vectrex, and ZX Spectrum. In fact it was such a popular game, over the years we've had many remakes and ports and this time in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Jeremy Smith's Thrust, Hayes Maker Games with music by legendary C64 composer Matt Gray has made available his version that is playable on PC / Mac or any other HTML5 enabled device!

Gravity Star Rescue Racer - Early work in progress Arcade game inspired by Thrust

Denis Evans from the wicked retro gaming store The Retro Cavern,  has contacted me about his new game that's in development for Mac, iOS, Android, and possibly PC via HTML5, 'Gravity Star Rescue Racer'. Taking inspirations from that classic game Thrust but with a unique twist, Gravity Star Race is more of a shoot em up affair as you have to blast everything under ground while keeping an eye on your shield level.

Thimbleweed Park - This upcoming retro inspired Adventure looks better than ever

Today has been non stop with the gaming news and personally I think it's oh so awesome, but wait it's just about to get so much better. As Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick via Terrible Toybox have released the latest Thimbleweed Park Delores Trailer for their upcoming retro inspired adventure ' Thimbleweed Park ' which was a big Kickstarter success. From the creators of the incredible LucasArts classic Maniac Mansion, comes an epic indie adventure with all the charm, look and feel of the golden age of the classics.

Skool Daze - A retro childhood classic is coming back on Mobile and Tablets!

A fantastic news story has just reached our inbox today and also thanks to a hearty mention by Chris Wilkins (Fusion Retro Books), is Alternative Software's upcoming Skool Daze remake which is coming to mobile and tablets very soon. So you can see why I'm just that little bit excited to play this remake as the game is a very nostalgic experience for me, even if I was a good boy at school.
