Ravva and the Cyclops Curse - Unleash your summoning powers in this new NES inspired game

Cathedral isn't the only retro inspired game we've come cross today with an update, as we've also come across a NES inspired title called ' Ravva and the Cyclops Curse ' which was developed by Galope for PC, MAC and Linux. Yes indeed welcome to another charming looking retro inspired game, as in Ravva and the Cyclops Curse you play as Ravva on a mighty quest to face an evil cyclops lord who has cast a curse on her own mother and stole her summoner powers!

I've always been an Adventure gamer on both my Amiga and PC, and have such fond memories of games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer, Fable, Kings Quest and even the Quest for Glory series. So to hear that a new Adventure game with a fantasy twist known as ' Guard Duty ' by Sick Chicken Studios was coming to Steam May 2nd, I was most excited indeed!

Viva Mortis - This Isometric ZX Spectrum inspired game looks super duper!

The last post for this evening and wow is it a good'n! As we've recently been informed through Facebook that AdamStrange has released his ZX Spectrum inspired game ' Viva Mortis ', for PC, MAC and Linux. What makes this game rather special isn't just the fact it is a ZX Spectrum graphical inspired game, but if you loved isometric games from Ultimate Play the Game, then you'll know what to expect from this fast paced isometric retro-fest feast for the eyes and ears.

Silk - A tribute to Mike Singletons groundbreaking 1984 game The Lords of Midnight!

Many years ago when the 8-bit ruled the era, there was a game called Lords of Midnight by Mike Singleton that took the world by storm. A game that featured a ground breaking technique called landscaping to depict the lands of Midnight from a first-person perspective. It was such a grand game that even today there's a huge fan base, and as such ihobo games has launched a Kickstarter for their Lords of Midnight inspired game ' Silk '.

Way back in 2013 we announced the Kickstarter success of Himalaya Studios most eagerly awaited Adventure game ' Mage's Initiation '; a game from a team who wanted to recreate the similar style and feel to previous adventure titles the company has worked on and was touted as being somewhat of a spiritual successor the 'Quest for Glory' series. Well there's brilliant news for every Adventure fan out there, as we have been told Mage's Initiation has been released on GOG and Steam!

From Beyond - Prologue - Horror adventure, inspired by games such as Shadowgate now on Steam

If you were a huge fans of games such as Deju Vu, Uninvited or even my personal favourite Shadowgate, then you'll be pleased to know the developer SuckerFree Games has released their MACVenture style game ' From Beyond-Prologue ', which as from the end of last month was made available to purchase through Steam. This adventure game announced through our Game Dev : RetroGaming Facebook group, puts you in control of professor Crawford Tillinghast on an expedition into the mountains of Europe on a search for a lost village shrouded in myths and rumours.

Dawnthorn - Stand-alone prequel to Zelda inspired Hazelnut Bastille is announced

While many of you are excited to learn that Aloft's Zelda inspired RPG of HAZELNUT BASTILLE is a huge Kickstarter success raising £116,390 of a £51,027 goal and still 20 hours to go. You may also be interested to know that the same team have recently announced Dawnthorn; a standalone prequel to Hazelnut Bastille, set in the same universe as Hazelnut, but instead is more inspired to classic NES RPG's whereas Hazelnut Bastille compares more to classic games found on the SNES and Sega Megadrive.

The Legend of Tobimaru - 2D action platformer with retro inspirations aiming for a Kickstarter success

Putting aside the Amiga games as now we look towards Mushin Games crowd funding campaign for their upcoming 2D action platformer ' The Legend of Tobimaru '. A game that according to the developers, is a upcoming game that takes its inspiration from retro classics such as Super Mario Brothers and Mega Man, as well as classic fighting games such as Street Fighter II.

Unsung Warriors Prologue - 2D action adventure playable in co-op! ( Demo )

Just a short write up before I return tomorrow, but if you've got nothing to play this evening then how about playing the latest demo of ' Unsung Warriors - The Prologue ', which is available for PC, MAC and Linux. This game is a 2D action adventure set in Iron Age inspired Europe, whereby you need to fight your way through enemies and nasty traps, while also exploring the secrets of an ancient crypt.

Timespinner - A lovely platformer with retro aesthetics is launched!

Moments ago thanks to a heads up on Facebook, we have just been told Lunar Ray Games with publishing rights by Chucklefish, has now launched their eagerly awaited action platformer game ' Timespinner '  for the PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 & PS Vita. This game which has been in our wishlist for sometime now, tells a story of murder and time travel, as playing as Lunais you control time and must take revenge on the evil Lachiem Empire who has murdered her family!

Jump 'n Bump Remastered - Cute bunnies and up to 8 player bloody gibblets!

From the same team who brought you the "de-make" of Alex Kidd in Miracle World for the Pico 8, Domarius Games is now looking towards an old MS-DOS game for bit of a 4 player antics. Titled as ' Jump 'n Bump ', this game was originally released for free by Brainchild Design in 1998 for MS-DOS.  It supported 4 players and was about bunnies crushing each other to death to get the highest score. So why are we mentioning this now? Well the developers Domarius Games have re-released the game but this time as a remastered version for modern systems!

Graveyard Keeper - Move over Stardew Valley, it's time to dig some graves!

Don't get me wrong Stardew Valley is a good game and can be addictive, but for me I need the darker more macabre tone to my games and not the cuteness of pulling out pretty vegetables out of a field. Thankfully Graveyard Keeper is just the type of game that fits my dark tastes perfectly, as not only must you build and manage a medieval graveyard but you'll be facing ethical dilemmas and making questionable decisions!

TANGLEWOOD - Eagerly awaited retro-tastic platformer is finally here on Steam!

Finally after all this time and raising a respectable £54,830 during a Kickstarter campaign, the developers Big Evil Corporation have recently announced their retro puzzle-platforming game originally released for the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis is now available via Steam for PC, MAC and Linux! Yes indeed ' TANGLEWOOD ' ; a game programmed in pure 68000 assembly language, using original development tools and processes from the 1990s is available for all to enjoy!

My love of adventure games is strong, from The Secret of Monkey Island, to The Legend of Kyrandia or even the Black Mirror, there's not an adventure game I would not put aside ( Unless it has too many riddles and puzzles ). So you can see why I was just that little bit excited when I saw Stuck In Attic's upcoming game of ' Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure ''; a game that looks so bloody good, it's at the top of my most wanted list.

Inspector Waffles - Anthropomorphic point and click adventure in Early Access

The love of Adventure games is strong this week, as after already mentioning the recent release of Unavowed, we now look towards Goloso Games early access anthropomorphic point and click adventure ' Inspector Waffles '. Now unlike the other paranormal orientated game, this one puts you in control Inspector Waffles on an investigation to find out what had happened to Fluffy, a rich industrial in Cat Town found dead at his house. As the story tells..  Is it a murder ? Did he kill himself ? Inspector Waffles is the one called to solve the mistery. But there is a problem : the cops can't find a way to get to the crime scene.

Super CLASH Bros - A mad retro smash up gets a new build

Can you believe this? A talented developer by the name of Clash Dev Ato, has only gone and made a Smash Bros inspired game freely available on Gamejolt and itch.io! Well the game is clearly a tribute to the much maligned Super Smash Bros , one of Nintendo's flag ship game franchises. Super CLASH Bros is a fan-made crossover game featuring a battle mode and adventure mode with many famous characters kept very accurate to their original games!
