Great Giana Sisters - Enhanced for the Atari STE with extra features!
Another classic game which has been given a retro kick up the rear but this time for the Atari STE is the very well known Great Giana Sisters from 1987. Many of you already know of this game by now especially Amiga and C64 owners but this game has huge similarities to Super Mario and as such way back in the 80's also had an alleged lawsuit case against them from Nintendo (wiki). So don't be too surprised to come across an original selling for £100's on Ebay. But the news at this early hour, is this game has been enhanced for the Atari STE even further with smooth scrolling with added audio track play back.
Games That Weren't & Onslaught C64 Christmas update 2015!
Oh what a time to have a C64, especially so near Christmas, as Onslaught together with Games that weren't C64 have released probably the biggest load of C64 goodness we've seen this year. It is the ' Games That Weren't Christmas update 2015 ' which packs in some rather eye opening games that have either been lost and found or cracked, fixed and updated. Games such as Flimbo's Quest Preview , Nuker Preview V2 , Worron , Wildfire Preview, Sputnik Preview, Quantarallax Preview and Firefighter Mario, all ready to be played and enjoyed.

Mario Run Preview - A non stop C64 runner twist on a classic
Before you get too excited this isn't the original NES platformer of Super Mario converted to the C64, but a runner game by Christian and George Rottensteiner released as a game preview with a trainer by Laxity. Unlike the original 1985 hit classic, 'Mario Run' for the C64 involves non stop running to get to the end flag while collecting coins and avoiding being trapped behind objects or falling between the ledges.
Could Super Mario Brothers be coming to the C64?
Possibly the last post for today and one I really think is going to get those jaws dropping, is the development of Super Mario Brothers for the C64. Funnily enough when a user way back in 2013 asked if there was ever a port of the original to the C64 and a reply of no, just a sprite hack of Giania Sisters. It came to be that a developer by the name ZeroPaige set out to make his very own C64 port as close to the Nintendo hit as possible.
Before the Dark Crystal 2 - Movie based adventure now in English!
Just days ago 'The Dark Crystal' once again appeared on TV; a fantasy film from 1982 directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, revolving around Jen, a 'Gelfling' on a quest to restore balance to his alien world by returning a lost shard to a powerful but broken gem. It was a very dark movie with the evil Skesis taking the life essence of creatures while turning them into slaves. For it's time it was renowned for featuring incredible animatronics! But it wasn't until recently that Marion released 'Before the Dark Crystal 2'; an adventure based on that very movie yet set several years before the event with a tale of escape and slavery.

Leilani's Island - Mario, Wario Land, and Donkey Kong mash up
Described as a Mario, Wario Land, and Donkey Kong mix, Leilani's Island is the latest work in progress game by Ishi, built on the Pixie Engine framework. What looks to be an arcade platforming game with retro inspirations, plays out like a classic but adds that little bit extra with rolling, running, jumping, kicking and the ability to smash things to protect her island!

As for the quality of the game, this one is above many of that we have featured, with great graphics, level design and fully playable for PC
If Mario was a real life experience, it would hurt!
Bit of a chuckle video for those that enjoyed Mario growing up. As Pete Holmes has done his own painful reality video of what would happen if Mario and Luigi faced the reality of hitting bricks with their heads. It's funny and worth a quick watch - Thanks Bluesnews

What's more you can even drive vehicles straight from Metal Slug using one of Mario's characters, which is completely mental. With new worlds, which are wonderfully designed, and enemies from many different games, this is a recommended retro platformer.
Mushroom Kingdom Fusion - Crazy Mario Crossover Platformer
I never thought I'd see a fan based game(s) such as this, it's crazy but in a good way. Mushroom Kingdom Fusion by Fusion Team, is a fan game with modified Mario game play, crossed over with many different video game universes and elements. But what does that mean? Well how about the ability to play a Sonic level but with Mario, or a Mario level with sonic, yes it's the crazy I was talking about! This is a true genius of fan based game development and a Platformer game that has to be played.
