NEScape! - Another new cart release on NES launches kickstarter
Oh you lucky NES fans. Just when we've had one amazing NES game deliver it's kickstarter physical carts, well now, just like busses, along comes another brilliant NES indie game looking to raise funds for a cart production run. NEScape! is a timed puzzle game in the style of an escape room and the puzzles are certainly taxing.
Micro Mages - New NES platformer hits the stores
Kickstarter has been the launch platform for many retro system games for a while now, and the latest to get the treatment is Morphcat Games' Micro Mages. A spectacular looking 4-player NES title (with a multi-tap) that manages to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the 8-bit platform to create one of the best looking games I've ever seen on the system.
Antstream - A retro game streaming subscription service is a Kickstarter success
Great news if you were supporting the Antstream Kickstarter; a crowd funding campaign for a retro gaming based streaming service. As we've recently been informed through our twitter feed, that not only is it a Kickstarter success but the pledges are still increasing and it's now beyond £50,000! For those of you didn't follow our previous article, Antstream is being developed as the brainchild of CEO Steve Cottam and inspired by his involvement in 3DO development, this service features a lovingly curated selection of games from a catalogue of thousands of fully licensed titles!
Ravva and the Cyclops Curse - Unleash your summoning powers in this new NES inspired game
Cathedral isn't the only retro inspired game we've come cross today with an update, as we've also come across a NES inspired title called ' Ravva and the Cyclops Curse ' which was developed by Galope for PC, MAC and Linux. Yes indeed welcome to another charming looking retro inspired game, as in Ravva and the Cyclops Curse you play as Ravva on a mighty quest to face an evil cyclops lord who has cast a curse on her own mother and stole her summoner powers!
Cathedral - Upcoming classy NES-inspired 8-bit adventure with new footage!
In 2016 Indie Retro News was one of the first sites to give you an updated look at Decemberborn's in development NES inspired 8bit adventure ' Cathedral ', which looks to have the charm of those retro classics while having cool platforming dungeons, unique aesthetics, new items, baddies to fight and puzzles in a world filled with secrets and side-quests. Well that same game has once again appeared in our inbox, but this time with two sneak peak game play teasers giving us an early glimpse at this upcoming game.
Panic! Dizzy - A 'new' old game by The Oliver Twins smashes Kickstarter goal
Well this didn't surprise us at all, as earlier today we found out Chris Wilkins, who was behind other successful Kickstarters such as the Crash Annual 2019, ZZap! 64 Annual 2019 and Mystery World Dizzy, has once again smashed through another Kickstarter goal! Yes indeed after raising an incredible £20,780 thanks to backers, the latest Kickstarter for Panic! Dizzy; A 'new' old NES game by The Oliver Twins that has been lost and found in The Oliver Twins attic, is now a massive success.
Mojonian Tales - An anthology of games created by the Mojon Twins for the NES
The Mojon Twins are certainly no strangers to this site, releasing cool homebrew games such as Cheril the Writer, Bootèe, MiedoW (Cheril's Nightmares), Mega Cheril Perils and even games such as Lala The Magical on the NES! But now there's a new game(s) in town, as we've just learnt from @nath_mojon the availability of ' Mojonian Tales '; an anthology of games created by the Mojon Twins inclusive of adventures, platformers, shooters and even puzzlers!

Throughout my childhood and into my adult life I've always had a fondness for that little adventuring egg called Dizzy, especially when he was first loaded up on to my Amstrad and then onwards to the Amiga and all the fan games that came thereafter. He brought into my life joy and wonder as thanks to the creators the Oliver Twins it was the only fairy tail that really mattered to me the most, ah the good ol' Yolkfolk! So if like me you were also a fan, you'll be pleased to know Chris Wilkins has launched a NES Kickstarter for Panic! Dizzy; A 'new' old NES game by The Oliver Twins that has been lost and found in The Oliver Twins attic!
Gruniożerca 2 & 3 - Double the fabulous fun for the NES!
Great news if you're looking for some entertainment on the NES as we've just been told not only is Gruniożerca 2 available through Itch.io, but there's a new game in the series worth trying via the NESDev competition and that is Gruniożerca 3! These two games although differing in gameplay design style, are both puzzle games and both revolve around Dark Archon's lovable pet guinea pig, Grunio!

I've always had a soft spot for that lovable character Dizzy; A character by the Oliver Twins that takes us back to the golden years of the Amstrad, C64 and even the ZX Spectrum. To be honest it's why everytime there's a new Dizzy fan game being developed or a lost Dizzy game found, I've always got to give it the mention. So why am I talking about another Dizzy game you might ask? Well if you can wait till Friday, Chris Wilkins will be launching the Panic! Dizzy Kickstarter ; another original Dizzy game that has been lost and found in the The Oliver Twins attic!

Melo-Jellos 2 - Match those Magic Jellies in this new NES game!
A new game has surfaced for the NES, as we have just found out in relation to the 2018 NESdev competition, that Adrian Makes Games has released the Jelly matching arcade puzzle game of ' Melo-Jellos 2 ' for the NES and related emulators. This game with music by SoundSync5000 and art by ptoing is about the curse of the Magic Jellies and the fact they are as hard as rock. Match 3 of them or more together to lift the curse, and do large combos to use their magic to lift the curse from several lines of jellies at once!
Espitene - Sonic inspired game teased on the NES
In the early 90's I had the pleasure of playing the mind blowing platformer Sonic the Hedgehog on both the Sega Megadrive and Sega Master System. A game by Sega which featured a ring collecting blue hedgehog that could spin, run, jump and roll about at the fastest of speeds in a battle against the main antagonist Doctor Eggman, plus a number of other menacing enemies throughout each level. Now I'm sure many of you remember playing this fantastic game and probably still playing it to this day, but what you probably didn't know that as of this year, na_th_an has released an early Sonic inspired game to the NES as Espitene!
TRONIC KIDS - A new Amiga game from Amiga Factory gets a release
If you're not content with all the Amstrad news then how about some Amiga news instead, as we've just been told by Zener that AmigaFactory has released their RedPill based game ' Tronic Kids ', which is for all Amigas with at least 2MB memory as a minimum. As noted by the developer this game was through the culmination of 8 months of intense work and is inspired by the classic game of Booby Kids which appeared on the Acades and the NES.
Super Homebrew War - Fight it out in this 4 player homebrew NES game
Not interested in bullet hell shooters or top down action games, then how about this cool little homebrew called ' Super Homebrew War ', which is a brand new entry for the NESDev 2018 competition. Unlike the other games we've mentioned this one features up to 4 player combative fun as characters from other homebrew games battle it out to see who's the top fighter!
Wolfling Preview V2 - Nesdev game previewed on the C64
In 2017 Lazycow released an early version of a high quality platforming game for the NES as an entry for the 2017 Nesdev competition. It gained favourable feedback during that time with one such member noting the game had nice level design, felt non linear and incredibly moody with rather nice animation. Well the news of this week is, this NES game is still being ported over to the C64 by the same developer, and there's a new preview version 2 tease also made available through CSDb by Onslaught and Laxity.
Micro Mages: A gorgeous nes game for the NES - Currently on Kickstarter!
Micro Mages is a new NES game that is currently up on Kickstarter. The game is already finished and the developers are running a Kickstarter campaign now to raise funds for producing the actual cartridges, boxes and manuals. At first glance Micro Mages is a gorgeous looking platform game with some really amazing pixel graphics but what's really exciting about this game is that it supports 4-players! Yes that's right, its time to dust of that old FourScore multiplayer adapter that so very few Nes games had support for.
Skatemasta Tcheco - Upcoming NES inspiration with a new trailer!
Tcheco is back, and this time he brought a skateboard! Skatemasta Tcheco is an upcoming game from the game developer Marcelo Barbosa that also created “Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio” that we previously mentioned here on Indie Retro News.
Nova the Squirrel - Charming homebrew platformer for the NES
Thanks to a heads up by our good friends RetroVideoGamer they've come across a lovely platformer for the NES called ' Nova the Squirrel ' developed by NovaSquirrel. Available as a free download with a possible commercial cartridge down the line, Nova the Squirrel puts you in control of a lovable character who must traverse many different levels and fight multiple enemies in an attempt to save the world of Latte from the evil 'Scheme Team'.
Romhacking Spotlight - Mario Hacks
Welcome back for another segment of the Romhackig Spotlight! This time we are going to take a look at some really nice Super Mario Bros hacks for the Nes. It seems that most hackers picks Super Mario Bros 3 when they want to hack a Mario game and that's understandable, but there are constantly appearing some amazing hack for the original Super Mario Bros game that we all know and love.
