Facebook Indie Retro News Account Hacked

You may have noticed the lack of updates to Facebook these last few days, that is because over the weekend our Facebook account was hacked. Thankfully there doesn't look to be any damage as such to the profile even with two step authorisation, but currently Facebook is playing hard ball and making it even more difficult to get this resolved as quick as possible. So expect a few more days down time via Facebook but no changes elsewhere. Thank you - Admin

Indie Retro News RSS Feed - Re-enabled!

Due to a number of emails and site comments relating to us taking down the RSS Feed as a security measure against article theft, I have re-enabled it. However unlike before which showed the full post, only the text up to the first line break will be shown to encourage people to still visit the site. If you don't remember our RSS Feed the link can be found ( Here ) :-)

Thank you everyone from Indie Retro News

After the recent ask for Donations as basically we needed help ( We don't do adverts! ), we had a lot of support from you the readers. In actual fact I was overwhelmed by how many people stepped forward and supported us, not only did it make me proud to be a big part of the retro community and all that it provides, but you have given me further incentive to push Indie Retro News into a much better future. Because of some of you wish to remain private, I'll just say a huge thank you, to all of you, to everyone of you that keeps coming back. From the bottom of my heart, I am extremely grateful and will continue to write about the Amstrad, Amiga, C64, ZX Spectrum and more!

The Story of Ocean Software: "The Biggest Games Company in the World" - By Kim Justice

I was just trawling the forums looking for the latest news and came across a new video that is sure to appeal to a vast majority of our readers. This is a brand new documentary by Kim Justice on the entire history of Ocean Software, from start to finish. Gary Bracey once said that Ocean were the biggest games company in the world. As such if you want to know nearly everything there is to know about " Ocean " who I'd class as one of the greats, you should seriously watch this video!

Dave Needle - Amiga Co-Founder & Atari Lynx Co-Inventor has passed away

After so many have passed away this year already, it is both with a heavy heart and sadness to say that Dave Needle, Co-Founder of the Amiga Computer, Co-Inventor of the Atari Lynx and vice-president of 3DO passed away yesterday 20/02/16.  Dave Needle was well known in the completion of the Lorraine project (Amiga 1000), and was also one of the main engineers of the custom chips of the Amiga computer. Later co-inventing the Atari Lynx which we knew as that cool little handheld that plays games such as California Games. Away from his Hardware engineering status, he was also a character, he had a great personality and was loved by many. As can be seen by the pictures provided by Marcel Franquinet and the video below.... RIP Dave Needle, you'll be missed!

Indie Retro News is going to PLAY Margate!

We are a huge fan of retro gaming conventions, especially ones that are full to the brim with retro games and hardware mixed up with a little bit of indie. Sure we've seen Eurogamer (although I wasn't impressed), I've always had a soft spot for GEEK in Margate, as I can relive days gone by and clicky joysticks.  Well after our recent feature of GEEK 2015 which was a big let down compared to their previous events, with it being a more modern oriented show (Lots of PS4's/Xbox ones!). The true retro spirit is coming home as from tomorrow! Yes indeed, 'PLAY Margate' the original organizers of GEEK will be at the Winter Gardens, Margate from the 21st to the 23rd of August.

As such Indie Retro News will be there and we personally can't wait to show you all the awesomeness this show has to provide when we come back.

Tickets are still available to buy from the main website

Amiga prototypes that Commodore hid from the world see light of day!

Pretty much everywhere you go now someone is talking about today's Amiga 30th birthday. So it came as no surprise to us to find the odd golden jem in a land of lost ideas, prototypes of Amiga systems that either didn't see the light of day or only one person ever had a working model stored in a dingy basement. However thanks to Techradar they've tracked down never-before-seen prototype versions of the multi-tasking powerhouse and a D-44 Amiga development system - only 100 of which were ever made - in addition to a prototype Amiga 2000 called 'The Ranger'. So go and check these rather special beasties out and wonder what type of Amiga we would've had, if these got a commercial release.

More awesome games to come today and even a possible Amiga Kickstarter, but before that we'd like to say a huge thank you to Marek Panczyk who sent us a donation yesterday all the way from Poland! I'm so grateful to all of you, all around the world helping me with server hosting costs and to keep this site growing to be even better year in year out. So a BIG thanks once again and to all of our readers from Indie Retro News.

Donation from Dean Woodyatt

Good morning retro gamers, a very busy day coming up with lots of awesome games! But before we get to that, a huge thank you to a Mr Dean Woodyatt who sent us a donation this week. It's because of donations like that, it really helps us keep the site going with the server hosting upkeep. It also means a lot to us knowing that this site is loved by many. However an apology is needed as I did not update the site this weekend because after many years of writing I wanted to spend time with the family, but today it's time to write! Thanks once again and to all of our readers from Indie Retro News.
