OpenTTD 1.4.2 - Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe gets a stable release

Over these last few months we've been featuring the latest updates to OpenTTD; an Open Source version of the hit Microprose classic Transport Tycoon Deluxe.  Today the developers have released the final version of OpenTTD 1.4.2 which contains many bug fixes and improvements over from 1.4.1. Available for PC, Mac and Linux, this is probably one of the best open source versions of an all time classic real time strategy and management game that is featured on our site.

OpenTTD 1.4.2-RC2 - The Latest bug fix release for Transport Tycoon Deluxe

In June of 2014 OpenTTD 1.4.1 was released to the public, which was an Open Source version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe. An incredibly fun and addictive real time strategy and management game with you running a transport company, based on the original Microprose title. For those of you keeping up to date with the latest versions, the team behind the open source development have released the latest 1.4.2 RC2, which contains a number of fixes such as wrong breakdown sound was played for ships. OpenTTD 1.4.1 - The latest Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe release goes final!

What great news today as OpenTTD has been updated to 1.4.1 and thus a final release, which contains many bug fixes and improvements from the previous version (especially the more important crash fixes). As such it's well worth updating from the previous final and using this version as soon as possible. OpenTTD 1.4.1-RC2 - The latest Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe gets another update!

A little bird has just tweeted us that OpenTTD has been updated to 1.4.1 RC2, which contains a number of bug fixes that have cropped up from RC1, namely an issue for multi-head train refits at stations, and an old bug where cargo was not ageing. Even though OpenTTD 1.4.0 was recently released as final, it looks as if some issues have cropped up namely bugs and crashing that needed to be fixed. After many days of beta testing, the developers of OpenTTD have finally released the latest final build of OpenTTD v1.4.0 to the gaming community. This is an open source version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe, which was one of the greatest transport simulation games ever to be released. It was also one of Microprose's all time best titles and has yet to be beaten by any other developer! In this fine game, you run your own transport company with the ability to transport goods, make your own railroad set ups, ferry rides and bus routes all the while watching growing cities and new factories. Thanks to this awesome open source version, you can play the original for free with some pretty damn fine additions. This is the OpenTTD 1.3.3 RC1 version which contains a massive list of fixes. OpenTTD - Transport Tycoon Deluxe Open Source Remake !

OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon the popular Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.

  The game begins in 1930 (1950 in TTD), and ends in 2050. The player starts out by borrowing money to finance construction of transport facilities, and is charged interest until the loan is repaid. As the user plays the game and earns revenues, they have the choice of expanding service along existing routes, or expanding their transportation network. The game features a progression of technology: in any particular year of the game generally only contemporary types of technology are available.

• Build stations, docks, airports and make money by connecting areas requiring transport services
• Construct complex road - rail - air - sea networks using a simple to use interface
• Experience cut-throat rivalry as you try to grab your piece of the action or choose to play in non-competitive mode
• Delve into a massive randomly generated world that is affected by your actions with cities, mines, power plants, oil rigs
• Deal with characteristic town councils that express individual and varying attitudes
• Cope with disasters such as mine collapses, bus, lorry and aircraft malfunctions
• Use new transport methods as they are introduced over time including futuristic monorails
• Compete with other player in an online mode!
